Capital Grille - Costa MesaExcellent service, fabulous steaksMy wife and I we're engaged at the Capital Grille in Orlando Florida. the wait staff there put in more than extra effort to make the day a very special one. Every anniversary we go to the Capital Grille in Costa Mesa to celebrate. They succeed in making those great memories come back every year. The steaks are usually the best I've found at any steakhouse, especially my favorite which is the Kona crusted steak. My family took Capital Grille for Mother's Day brunch. Wasn't sure how my 7-year old and 3-year old would fare in such a nice establishment. To my surprise, the restaurant was very well equipped to handle kids (probably in honor of Mother's Day) and the service was beyond. My kids did very well and my older one has now requested that she join her dad and I on our date nights because she can appreciate fine-dining. haha Kids..... The lobster Mac and cheese was dynamite, as was the fillet mignon! The wine list wad extensive and very impressive. And the dessert!!! Oh the dessert!!! This saturday my wife,my son and I had an early MOTHERS DAY DINNER, the main entrees as usual we perfect! However, you have to make a change in regards to the OYSTERS,not good! Was there the same day a bit earlier under the reservation under my client's name and that server was very good at her craft. I was not eating for I had a lunch meeting under my name through Open Table right after my meeting with Miss Russell. We ordered so filets, good not exceptional. Halibut was good also but served with polenta? Hid the taste of the halibut. Onion soup was excellent. The wedge salad was good if you like a buttermilk sweeter blue cheese dressing. The service was exceptional as was the atmosphere but there are too many other steak places that will blow you away. We may have mentioned our reunion in passing or perhaps the staff observed our level of joy upon reuniting.. That they noticed demonstrates their level of wonderful yet discrete attentiveness. In any case, we were truly pampered by the highly professional staff to include our outstanding and exceptional waiter Derrick. He is truly an asset to the organization! Experienced highly pleasant, non-intrusive yet attentive service throughout the evening. Many special touches such as complimentary champagne, picture taking, etc without request by us. And of course, the food was, as always, great! She walked us to the far side of the restaurant to sit us at a table, at which time I asked her if we could sit at the booth that was right next to the table. She said "I'll have to go check." Really?? She left us standing there and then when she returned she asked us to follow her. She than sat us at a booth next to a table of four guys who were very loud. Why didn't she just sit us at the booth I requested? There were plenty open. Anyhow, that was annoying and a poor first impression.
Other than that, the rest of our experience was delightful. Our server, Jill, was wonderful and the food was amazing! I brought my boyfriend here to celebrate his birthday. We shared the wedge with bleu cheese and applewood smoked bacon. It was a generous portion to split. I had the bone in kona crusted dry aged sirloin and my boyfriend had the porcini rubbed delmonico. The Delominco is like a ribeye. The steaks were prepared perfectly. Medium rare in the middle. It smelled good and tasted even better. Jill was our server and we look forward to seeing her again. She truly made our dinner experience a special evening. The staff was attentive. They brought us the Cheesecake for dessert. It was heavenly. Light not heavy.
