  • "Was out with my niece for a day of fun and decided to drop in for lunch at the Capital Grill. The staff makes you feel most welcome from the moment you walk in until you leave. The food was outstanding - I enjoyed a Maine Lobster Roll (just like the ones on the east coast). My niece is a little picky and wanted a meal she remembered but was not on the menu. She was so excited when they were able to accommodate her request. We highly recommend this hidden gem at south coast plaza"

  • "My friend said to book a steak place & having been to the notable ones in the area, decided to try Capital Grille. The complimentary valet is a plus. Ordered porcini rubbed delmonico & the filet oscar w/ dungeness crab. Hands-down the delmonico was the best steak we've ever had! Asked for rare they sear it in a balsamic sauce. Delicious! Side of mushrooms & pineapple martini's were great too! Noted it was my birthday on the OpenTable reservation so we arrived to bday confetti & a nice note on the table along w/ complimentary champagne. After dinner, mini creme brûlée cheesecake & flourless chocolate cake were served. I can't tell you the countless times I've noted bday's on reservations and it's overlooked. Will be back soon!"

  • "First time here ad i really was crazy a great steak. I tried the ribeye with 15 yr. Balsamic rub. I like my steaks charred rare and was amazed on how charred and rare these guys prepared it. It was to perfection and apprixiated every bite. I was very inpressed with overall menu. I will be back."

  • "Made my reservation on Open Table to celebrate our 2 yr anniversary. Our table was waiting with a nice Anniversary card :). Service was, as usual, excellent. From the hostess, to the bartender, to our server--they were are all friendly and made our experience enjoyable. The food was basically perfect! I had the Kona crusted sirloin (I can never stray away from this cut, its awesome), asparagus, lobster mac n cheese (omg so tasty), Oysters, salmon appetizer which is slow smoked (best I've had). My husband had the porterhouse and loved it. We love food, and this dinner was exceptional. After some martinis and the flourless chocolate cake, we were contently full and happy we chose Capital Grill to celebrate a special day. Worth every penny."

  • "Really nice Birthday Lunch Celebration. The table was decorated with little birthday cake confetti and a very special dessert was prepared. We dined on the Maine Lobster Roll Sandwich, the Caesar Salad with Sliced Beef Tenderloin and a striped seabass prepared in a beurre blanc sauce. Everything was absolutely delicious! The service was impeccable! Thanks!"

  • "This was my first visit to The Capital Grille. The reservation process was effective. We were seated in a comfortable booth in the rear, though near a party of 10 {4 children}. This was disppointing and the noise was distracting and conversation was difficult to hear. The server was very attentive and helpful without being overbearing. I ordered the Ahi Tuna, which at $44, was pricey. The fish was perfectly cooked and the 3 accompanying sauces allowed for specific seaoning. Truly one of the best pieces of ahi I've ever eaten. We also shared an order of parmesan crusted french fries which were amazing, yet a bit pricey at $11. I'd return for a special occassion, though I'd also suggest they add vegettarina options to the menu."

  • "We have been to one other Capital Grille in Las Vegas, where the dining room had large windows facing the strip. This location is the opposite. Dark, intimate and fairly quiet. Both had superior service. In fact, the wait staff is sometimes a bit overindulgent, but in a friendly way. We noted that we needed a gluten free menu when we made the reservation, and it was presented upon seating. Our server Shawn made sure to ask about which ingredients we could eat, and created a notable substitute for soy sauce for the Ahi-grade Tuna. The lamb chops were very nicely seasoned, although not all medium rare as ordered. This restaurant is on the expensive side, but the service and quality of food are worth it."

  • "OC has some great restaurants, even some great steakhouses. This is not one of them. It seems like a place your grandparents thinks is fancy. I've been to this location twice, about a year apart, in case I just caught it on a bad night. Nope, it just isn't good. In all fairness, the service was great. I brought a bottle of wine, which they promptly decanted -- nice touch. We ordered the Cesar salad (decent), asparagus (ok), baked potato (good), lobster tail (tasty, but overdone), and a filet (cooked perfectly, but completely tasteless- also disappointed a petite filet wasn't an option). At the end of the day, charging $42 for a steak doesn't make you a good restaurant. There was a reason we were able to get a last minute reservation."

There will always be great food, service and attention to detail. So it was a no brainer when we were choosing a place for my mothers birthday. Everything just perfect. PERFECT.   • "We went with another couple to enjoy good conversation and a nice lunch. I got the pre-fix lunch with the clam chowder and the main course was scallops. The other three people got the rib eye steak sandwich with the truffle fries. Everyone enjoyed their meal, and the steak was a tender thick cut and cooked a perfect medium rare. My scallops were cooked perfectly. The truffle fries are always a big hit and everyone loved them. For dessert we got the chocolate espresso cake and the hazelnut cake for all of us to enjoy. This was too much chocolate! I wish we had gotten the cheesecake instead of the espresso cake. The big piece of hazelnut cake was moist and flavorful. The service was excellent as always."

  • "Pricey but consistent quality. Good for pre-concert dinner. However, we feel the the service is pretentious. Maybe some people expect this in servers in some places, but we would prefer the servers to be honestly cordial. It can otherwise border on rudeness or pomposity, which adds up to bad service in our book. This is exactly what has happened on two occasions, once with a small group. Three times and they are 'out'. We don't like to spend this kind of money and be annoyed enough to comment on a server during dinner."

  • "We went here for OC Restaurant Week. The food and setting were both very nice. Our waitress was attentive. We both had the filet mignon. The filets were incredibly tender and juicy. I thought the mashed potatoes were just ok; my husband thought they were wonderful. The desserts were small but delicious. We got the cheesecake and the flour less chocolate cake. We will definitely be back."

  • "I've been to the other Capital Grille and I like them so I decided to go here this past weekend (first time at this location). The waiter took care of us and I think his name is Steve. I appreciate how he took care of us. The old lady in the front who got us to our table is a different story. First, even though there are a lot of tables good for two people, she didn't sit us right away. I let that go but what I didn't appreciate is when she told us that she need the table by 4:30 and we need to be done by then - really. If it wasn't raining this past weekend, I was just going to another restaurant. The lady seems grouchy and I felt like she didn't want us to be there. Oh well, there are other restaurants in OC where I can go so it's ok."

  • "My group and I were here for lunch as part of OC Restaurant Week. We all had 3-course meal and shared a bottle of wine among us. The clam chowder, our first course, was excellent: not too heavy, good potato texture, and flavorful. The aged sirloin steak, our second course, was simply divine: tender, grilled perfectly, and filling. I never knew a sirloin could be this wonderful! The cheesecake, our final course, was light and complimented perfectly by the fresh berries. The waitstaff was outstanding and deserved the extra tip at the end. Capital Grille can be recommended for a fine dining experience Dress: classy Price: high-end"

We had a late lunch and the room was quiet. Our waiter could not have been more considerate of our wishes. Most of all the food was delicious and presented in an appetizing manner. We are looking forward to and have already started planning our next meal at the Capital Grill."

I described this to my friends and co-workers as a must dine restaurant as everything was good from bread to dessert. The main room was a bit loud but the private room experience was awesome! Did not check on us for drink refills...had to get up to request the bill. 4 star food..1 star service. Restaurant is not well designed...choppy claustrophobic seating. The noise level is way too high at peak times...need to soften the noise with better floor design and noise softening wall/ceiling materials."

However, the cheesecake I had for dessert wasn't that great. It tasted a little dried out and not creamy enough. Overall, I would go back to eat there."

  • "Wanted to try this place and now I don't know why I've waited! Two of us ordered off the regular lunch menu - which is large, varied, & reasonable. Two of us had the OC Rest. Wk menu & the grilled salmon was excellent with a huge side of fresh green beans. Their popular lobster/crab burger was TDF. Very busy for lunch so the noise level is a bit high. We had one of their premier waiters - Ibere from Brazil - who usually works dinner, but was helping out for OC Rest. Wk. OMG, he is superb! We were so favorably impressed with EVERYTHING. Can't wait to return..."
