  • "My wife and I recently enjoyed a nice evening here. We usually come here for their great steaks but we were in the mood for seafood and were not disappointed. We ate oyster and shrimp for appetizers, good salads, and had the parmesan encrusted sole. The sole was extremely fresh and it was cooked perfectly. We were surprised by the very large portions, which is something we rarely see when ordering fish in DC. Our waiter was Akim and he is a true professional who knows how to provide great service and just the right amount of attention together with inside tips and flexibility on the menu. The restaurant was crowded (but they don't crowd the tables together here) but Akim handled it well and delivered great service."

  • "I normally have steak, but they had a Chilean Sea Bass on the menu and I decided to try it. It was bland, so I was diappointed. I was also disappointed with the Coconut Cream Pie. It had big chunks of coconut in it and dripping with syrup and I did not remember that it was made that way in my previous outings at the Penn Street location. The Coconut Cream Pie was much too sweet. The meal was a disappointment."

  • "The ivory salmon special was a little overcooked, but was served well with spinach and sauce. The dry-aged sirloin was cooked just right, though the taste was rather strong. Service was excellent, as always. The side dish or green beans and tomatoes was tasty, but the beans were just barely cooked. Overall, food is done well, but it's an expensive meal, not something we will do very often!"

Food and ambiance were great and our waitperson Julie was helpful as well as charming.   • "I had a reservation for my boyfriend's birthday 2/9/2017, and it was the best ever. They had every detail ready to celebrate his special day with a birthday card, decorative confetti on the table, and a very nice area that we were seated. The food was SUPERB!!! We had the lamb chops, lobster mac n cheese, spinach, and the lobster and crab cakes. Everything was delicious!! The service was OUTSTANDING!!! I loved every minute of it!! I will be back, again, and again, and again if they keep this up."

  • "We celebrated a birthday there, they did a nice job decorating the table and they presented a nice card.The wine was good and the appetizers were excellent. However, our main entrees were mediocre. The Kansas steak was average, the chicken dish dry and the other steaks just average.The fish dish was excellent! When you drop $700 for a dinner, you expect an explosion of taste and textures however twice now we have been disappointed! There will not be a third time. I would suggest other venues when considering a high end restaurant."

  • "I love the consistency of this restaurant. I always know I will get a perfectly cooked, delicious steak. The lobster bisque was out of this world. The calamari was perfectly cooked and the peppers gave it just the right amount of spice. I ordered the filet and our table shared the asparagus and potatoes au gratin- everything was fabulous. Even though we were stuffed we could not pass up the chocolate espresso flourless cake- I would come back just to indulge in that dessert again!"

  • "we dined at Capital grille Friday, Jan 31st. Food was really good and portions are big. They gave us a nice table, server did a great job and wine selection was excellent. At the end of our dinner, I order my favorite glass of Hennessy - cognac. And here comes the surprise. First - the waiter brought me a glass of cognac full of ice. I just started laughing - who serves cognac over ice? He immediately took it back and brought me the same glass, without ice. The worst possible solution since the cognac was already very cold and as every restaurant staff know, cognac is served room temperature. Anyway, I did not enjoy it. Don't you have to teach your barman and waiters how to serve different kind of drinks?"

  • "We took our almost 2-year old granddaughter to dinner; it was a busy Saturday night. We sat downstairs by the bar at the "children's table". This was a wonderful large curved booth! My granddaughter sat between my husband and me. The staff immediately brought a coloring book and crayons. (Our granddaughter loves to color). Then our server asked if we would like a "kids" water, which she promptly brought - it was perfec--a small plastic cup with lid and straw! The staff was most accommodating, our food was great, as usual, and we had a terrific time! Thank you!!!"

  • "Capital Grille is among the more expensive restaurants, and given that fact, we were hardly impressed by the food. We ordered two steaks, and both were undercooked; one was sent back, while the other was tolerated. Neither was particularly flavorful, and we have found there to be numerous better places to enjoy steaks. One of the steaks came with crab, and it was dry and apparently had been prepared well in advance as part of the evening's "special" offering. On a positive note, the service was highly attentive and was the best part of the evening; regrettably, that did not make up for the meal. All in all, our experience was a huge disappointment and not an experience we intend to repeat."

The table was very specially decorated by our waitress who was just awesome. I don't want to give away any surprises, but a specially occasion at Cap Grille is well worth it.   • "Let me start with good part. The decoration and the grand look of restaurant is one of the best I ever seen in DMV area. I loved the look of the whole place. The furniture, the carpets and the wall decorations. However... with all that look, the tableware were outdated and very boring. took away the whole side of food presentation. The food was so disappointing. 1)The food availability/variability of food on the mean was just so limited that it is surprising. 2) I don't expect them to have a large overwhelming large menu but it was just not enough for people who know about food 3) usually if u have a small menu like that restaurants specialize in their few dishes but that not the case. the food they only had was not even all that..."

I ordered salmon, which was a little undone in the middle but perfectly spiced and juicy. My husband ordered steak and it melted in his mouth. The staff was extremely attentive but not overbearing. It was clear just by the way we were treated and the presentation that they were giving us subpar service since we were there for restaurant week.   • "We were seated an hr after the reservation,but they made up for it w/ a complementary bottle of champaign.I ordered the mignon medium and it was cooked perfectly, it was AMAZING!! Two of the people in our group had issues w/ the way theirs was cooked & had to send it back. The manager came to our table apologized for the errors & took both meals off the check.The experience over all could've been better,but considering it was restaurant week it was understandable, the restaurant definitely made up for it & treated us well, the food was amazing.I'd go back."
