  • "We stayed with the basics -- great steaks, but also went with the special of the day prep for te filet mignon which was jus terricif -- a cranberry chutney and squash that really worked. Combined with spicy calamari and lobster mac and cheese great mix of flavors. Not for those sensitive to calories or budget ($200 for 2 people, w/ 3 glesses of wine) but save up and plan to jog next day. Sunday evening was rearkably lively."

  • "My husband and I were out for his birthday - a rare date night, as we have a 2 and a 3 year old. So it was wonderful just to be out and really nothing could have or did take away from that, but I wasn't super impressed. Our server was nice for sure and knowledgeable, but we were not a priority for him. He was busy so wasn't ignoring us purposefully, but it took a v long time for him to take our wine order and then again to deliver the bottle. Apps fine. Ordered Chilean Sea Bass and the porterhouse and neither of us loved our meal. Meat was ordered MR and came R. Could be my fault for not ordering steak at a steakhouse, but the bass presentation wasn't great and had far too much broth. Overall not terrible but I won't be rushing back."

  • "Went with friends for dinner. For what they charge the ambiance and service was not worth it. Coffee and tea had gone cold by the time dessert came by. Our waiter did not regularly check in and the waiter changed during our meal. The appetizers and steaks were good. fish dishes OK. Fine for a business lunch or dinner."

  • "I had heard about the Capital Grille for years, just never made it there. I decided to try it for Restaurant Week and I was not disappointed. I had the kona-crusted sirloin steak ... an extra $10 but well worth it. It came cooked just right. My companion had the salmon and he said it was very good. A friend said I *HAD* to try the scalloped potatoes ... and YUP ... she was right. They were not included in the Restaurant Week menu, but they were so worth the extra $11. I would definitely go back to the Capital Grille in Chestnut Hill again - even outside of Restaurant Week."

  • "My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at the Capital Grille in Chestnut Hill the other evening. From the moment we walked in everything was perfect. Our hostess who greeted us and brought our to our table promptly was gracious and happy that we chose to dine at their establishment that evening. . Our waiter Joe, was spectacular in his service and demeanor. The manager Dorothy was attentive to our dining pleasure as well and made sure everything was perfect. This restaurant is truly a gem. Keep what you're doing and don't change anything. It''s hard to find a classic like this these days! - for those critics who view this outstanding restaurant as stuffy, stayed or needs a face lift - you don't know what you have until its gone!"

  • "Recently, I dined at Capital Grille during restaurant week. It was absolutely amazing! The food was sublime and on top of it all the meal was affordable. My caesar salad, 14oz steak and cheesecake all came to about 40 dollars a person which is great, and especially affordable for college students going out for a special occasion. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very old-world which is super unique. The paintings that decorate the restaurant are incredible, be sure to notice the,. Overall, I had an amazing dining experience at Capital Grille and I highly recommend you go for a special occasion, whether that'd be a date or just a fun night out!"

The dining experience was wonderful and we were visited at the table by Mr. Dixon and Caroline, who for a new girl brings a lot to the table... With the # 1 server in New England ( Jill) off this night, , Kristina B. filled in and made the evening a wonderful experience with impeccable service and she paid a lot of attention to the table which was appreciated. She was warm, attentive and professional. She even volunteered to take a picture of all us knowing that it was a special birthday celebration. The food was incredible. My husband was a chef for many years at top restaurants. It was the best meal he has had in a restaurant in a long time. I had the beef tenderloin and shrimp. It was grilled to perfection. We are looking forward to eating there again soon."

  • "We have done this restaurant for the past 6 years for our anniversary during Restaurant Week. The food is always superb, service is usually excellent, since we've have the same waitress for most of those years, and the ambiance, while very romantic, has always been VERY dark, with the exception of THIS visit, which was quite light and nice. The BIG thing that was different about the food this year was the change of the dessert. They had the same 2 desserts, cheesecake & espresso cake, but they were made and served in very small round, almost bite-sized piece which tasted much different than normal and was not as enjoyable."

  • "Capital Grille did a great job at organizing a private dining area to celebrate a 40th B-Day dinner. The service and the ambiance were great. However, I was disappointed that when we ordered the "Bone-In Kona Crusted Sirloin” the "Bone-in Dry-Aged Sirloin" came out. When we brought this up to the waiter, he was apologetic and took our steaks back but immediately brought the same steak back with the Kona and shallot butter added. I wished the waiter/manager would have explained to us that maybe it would take "longer" to re-since our party already had their dinner and we would have understood vs. giving us back the same steak with the additional toppings cooked twice. I was disappointed that this happened at such a reputable restaurant."

  • "My boyfriend and I came here with another couple a few days ago and did not have the best experience. First we were sat a half hour after our reservations, but at least the staff was apologetic and kind. Once we were sat it took forever for our waiter to take our drink order. After that, our table was cluttered with extra glasses and plates that he never cleared. He only cleared them once we asked to have them moved. We sat and waited again for him to even take our order. By then We had been sitting for 30 minuets. Once our food finally arrived it was luke warm. For this being an upscale place, they did not deliver the experience. I was disappointed in my first visit here and probably wot be back anytime soon."

  • "Food was great from start to finish excellent bread salad and chowder steaks (highly recommend kona crusted-although I got the filet which was also good) yummy green beans and mashed potatoes Cheesecake was the best ive ever had flourless chocolate cake was very rich (like fudge) but delicious! If your looking for a special please for dinner I would go here without hesitation! Judy our server was excellent and even packed up extra mashed potatoes and green beans for my left over steak at no additional cost : )"

The noise was so loud that we could not hear one another at our table. Very unfortunate, as we were there to celebrate a 90th birthday and we could not carry on a conversation."

  • "Second time visiting...the food was excellent as the first time. The servers were nice. Only problem we had was the noise level - which can happen anywhere anytime. There was a big group of loud men next to us. So loud that we couldn't hear each other - that is a party of four. We asked and tried to get us moved, but it was so crowded, it was not possible. I won't fault them for that, but since this place is popular and can get really noisy, if you are planning something special, you may want to request quitter seating ahead of time."

  • "i had the toughest steak i'd ever eaten at the capital grille, the 14 oz. bone-in sirloin. i like sirloin and didn't expect it to be like a filet mignon, but it was a wrestling match to cut it with a steak knife and then have to chew it for minutes to get it down. after that, i can hardly recall the flavor. the salad and green beans were non-descript. the flourless chocolate cake was the only dish worth eating. the service was very attentive and the wine list extensive."
