A word from Capital City Chophouse
For the past 11 years, customers have been streaming into the Capital City Chop House citing the delicious food, the great service and the good value. Why is it that many guests return to the Chop House so often that the staff are able to greet them by name? It’s because the restaurant maintains a level of quality and consistency- thanks to the credentialed chefs and experienced wait staff- that diners have come to depend on. Perhaps the most important constant at the Chop House is the Certified Angus Beef Brand; considered the “royalty of beef.” Less than 8% of all beef makes the CAB grade, yet the Chop House serves only CAB across the board, from center-cut steaks to burgers. The Chop House philosophy is to let its delicious steaks speak for themselves, seasoning them with a simple grating of tricolored peppercorns. The Chop House serves only the highest quality of products available; join us for lunch or dinner. Private banquet rooms are available.Continued

  • "Our waiter was excellent and in-tune with our dining experience. It was our 16th wedding anniversary and the red carpet was rolled out. The Manager and the hostess came over to greet us and that made us feel real special."

  • "Went there for our Anniversary. They gave us a special table and setup. Service was outstanding. My wife had the ribeye and it was as wonderful as my fillet the last time we dined here. I had the prime rib, it was very good, but a little dry. all other food was excellent. The manager checked on us several times and our server, Hilton, really made our meal special. It was a great experience and so glad we choose Capital City Chop House to celebrate our special day!"

  • "Brought a friend from out of town and he said its the best food he has had the entire 2 months he has been in the Triangle Area, bar none. He has been to the more "affluant" steak houses a number of times. We all had Beef Tips (the sauce is to die for!) the Fillet and my friend added a Loster Tail, I had soup instead of salad, and we shared a giant piece of chocolate cake for dessert. Everything was absolutely spectacular!!"

  • "We often go to Chophouse when our plane arrives around dinnertime. During rush hour, it is a great place to relax, have a drink and skip the traffic. Our experience this week included excellent, prompt, courteous, friendly and knowledgeable service. My husband had the New York cut and I had the 8 oz. filet cooked to the correct doneness. Preceded by ample and fresh salads, caesar and wedge, a choice of side was included. Both the asparagus and mashed potatoes were perfect. Our waiter was so pleasant. We will continue to be frequent customers."

  • "Enjoyed my steak very much, well prepared and very tasty. I had the rib-eye and it was cooked to my specifications as expected. The chef knows how to cook a good steak. I prefer a thicker cut of meat though and the rib-eye was a little more plate filling and therefore not as thick; next time I might give the NY strip a try or the larger cut of the rib-eye. Wait staff very knowledgeable and helpful; the manager took the time to inquire about my meal and addressed me by name - very professional."

  • "Quiet and excellent food. We went alittle later and it was fun to sit in the bar area and watch the TVs with the older children. Felt like we were at home."

  • "Something has changed at the Chop House in recent years. The quality of the food has declined and the feeling that you are a valued customer is just about gone. The restaurant is near my office and years ago it was the place to go for great service and great food. Over the past few years each time I go, the entire experience has gone from bad to worse. It is almost as if the hosts at the front door, could care less if you are there (I've been on multiple occasions and the women who work there almost seem bothered that you are there). Darker colored napkins used to be provided when dark slacks were worn, now it is white, no notice from the wait staff that darker napkins should be provided. Makes my decision to not go back much easier."

  • "It seems restaurant has lost some of sheen, a little above mediocre. The service was extremely slow. The food was good but steaks that were order medium well, both the same came out opposite. 1 very rare & the other extreme med well We chose this for a special occasion and we were over all disappointed. The restaurant grade is a very low A and I can see why. I hope this changes."

  • "I am from upstate New York and get to the Raleigh area about 4 times a year. With all the good restaurants that are in the Raleigh area I HAVE to make Capital City Chop House a stop. Their food never disappoints and the extended wine list is wonderful. Alan, the manager always stops by to chat. Hilton, our waiter, very attentive but let us relax and enjoy the meal. Can't wait to go back on my next visit !"

  • "Capital City is my go to for that business lunch that needs to be a cut above the usual fare. Love the homemade bacon dressing."

  • "I've been here regularly on business trips for the past few years. The quality of the food and service have both gone down quite a bit during the last two visits. The meat was over-cooked. The server's service was sub-par. For the prices that they charge, I expect high standards, which the Chophouse is not meeting."

  • "My wife & I had each dined at CCCH prior/separately (for business functions) and enjoyed it, so we decided to have a dinner date there on Saturday evening, 3/8/14. I had requested a quiet booth and was pleased to get seated at a very inviting & comfortable booth in the quiet back corner of the main dining room. Atmosphere was perfect for a romantic outing. Our server was very prompt and truly outstanding - she was very helpful and seemed to know exactly when to be there - almost seemed she could read our minds. Timing for arrival of our drinks and food (soup, salads, entrees) was perfect, and everything tasted delicious. Couldn't ask for better. Thanks, CCCH!"

  • "The Chop House is always great for business lunches and dinners. Great for that special occasion as well. Great staff and great food are the norm."

  • "Good place for business lunches if you have the time. The service can be a bit slow so may not get in and out in an hour. However, tables are large, possible to have private conversation. Food generally good and selection is good."

  • "I love eating at the bar. The staff is wonderful and the food is always great. I usually get the steak or tuna appetizer."

  • "This has been a favorite place for after work meetings as well as one of our favorite places to take our clients. However, I was extremely disappointed to see a 90 rating. If we didn't have clients with us, we would have left. What's going on?"

  • "I've always heard high remarks regarding Chop House from two members of our party as they are frequent lunch customers. Everything lived up to what I was told. The brie and bruschetta were great appetizers, and the spicy tuna roll was amazing."

  • "We made several changes the day of our dinner to the number of people attending and the staff was very easy to work with and helpful in making the changes."
    Dined on 2/20/2014
  • "The food was wonderful and the service was very nice. The spotlights aimed at the tables detract from the overall ambiance - more indirect lighting would serve much better. Our waitress was attentive, if not in a hurry. I would recommend this place for a special occasion, or a business type lunch. The steaks are great and the crabcakes....!!!"

  • "We had the tilapia fettuccine and ribeye. Both were cooked correctly and had a great taste. The service consistent checked on our table and kept our beverage filled."

  • "Our experience was not a bad one, it just didn't meet our expectations for a higher end restaurant."

  • "When my wife and I arrived at the restaurant the hostess said that she didn't have a reservation for me, I showed her my email confirmation from the reservation that I made weeks in advance but yet still got the same response. she never even offered to try and fit us in. It wasn't until the manager came over and read it that he told her to go ahead and seat us. The sad thing is that the restaurant was never full (yes, even on Valentines day), there was always 2-3 empty tables but they were ok with turning away a patron ready to give them business. At some point people just need to make the call that is most practical and not rely solely on technology, especially if it is wrong. Once we were seated the server was nice and the food was great"

  • "Had the crab cocktail and shrimp cocktail for appetizers, both were excellent. Filet Mignon was cooked perfectly, and the NY Strip was also done to perfection. Both steak dinners included a side dish along with either a soup or salad, we really liked that feature. The salads were fresh and crisp, and the side dishes were tasty. No complaints at all about the food. The timing of the food arriving to the table was great, no dishes were rushed, our waitress did an awesome job at making sure we had everything we needed without making us feel like she was crowding our dining experience."

  • "Went for Valentines Day/birthday dinner and had an amazing night. We had a quiet corner booth and started with the tuna appetizer. Wonderful. I had salmon, spouse had steak. Food was prepared prefectly. Service was spectacular. Was treated to a complimentary birthday pound cake with raspberries which was awesome. Just a perfect dinner all around."

  • "The Chop House is close to the Airport and RTP businesses making it an excellent choice to make connections with business associates and customers. The food is always predictably very good and service is excellent. Semi-private room is available for larger groups. The noise levels are moderate making for easy discussion around a large table. Plenty of parking and convenient to local hotels. Reservations are easy to make with Open table or by calling directly."

  • "My husband and my best friend recently dined here and we had a wonderful evening. Our server, Val, was extremely good. She was attentive without hovering and allowed us our privacy without ignoring us. The wine was fabulous, the appetizers great and the entrees equally good. The atmosphere was warm, comfortable, and allowed us to have private conversations. You can't ask for a better evening. We will definitely be back and will recommend this restaurant to friends and colleagues. Thanks for a great time."

  • "I've tried several different entrees and liked everyone with the exception of the fish tacos. Too much salad dressing and garnish to wrap up. The steaks are cooked to perfection! Service is great. Try it, you'll like it!"

  • "We had reservations at 5:30 pm on a cold Wednesday night in January, Despite the fact that I have obvious difficulty walking (and I was using a cane!), they seated us ALL THE WAY IN THE BACK, thus making us walk as far as possible. When I asked if there was any possibility of being seated closer I was told that this was the only section that was open, and if it was unacceptable, we could go somewhere else. While the food was good, I know that there are plenty of other restaurants in the Triangle who serve a nice steak who are less dismissive and rude, and I will take the lady's advice and go there instead. The server didn't even ask if we wanted separate checks; she just plunked down the bill and walked away."

  • "Glad I was here on business dinner. $40 for a 14oz strip, baked potato and salad. Whew! Steak was excellent and prepared to perfection. Salad was skimpy and salad dressing was a disappointment (Kraft?). Too noisy in the dinning room we were in. We had good to excellent service/waiter. Prices are ridiculous for what you get. Would rather have gone to Angus Barn but I did not get to pick the restaurant this trip."

  • "Other than taking our order the waiter was MIA. We were a group of 6 and had to pour our own wine. He never checked back on us and it wasn't due to high traffic, we were one of only a few tables. The food was good but I felt the price was too high for a restaurant that had no atmosphere, music or character. There were only a few occupied tables on a Saturday night. Lower prices may drive business up."

The service was prompt, attentive and very responsive throughout our meal experience. without being intrusive. Our starters , drinks and meals were absolutely first rate all around! I will be back soon and will being /refer friends!"

  • "Had fantastic dinner Salmon and Grouper. We were very happy with the staff and our reservation was on time. Unfortunately we sat next to a large group who were way too loud and one woman thought this was her personal public display to roar out her laugh. I wish someone in the management team would tell her to behave in this type restaurant with the correct level for adults, but no one did anything. I know we were not alone."

  • "This restaurant knows how to cook a good steak! We went so often and lunch and always asked for the filet, that they added it to their lunch menu, I love to order mine with a cajun crust and the Grand Marnier sauce. The crab dip and calamari are always a table favorite for us. If you decide to order dessert, the cookie is best served for 2 or more people. We love to bring friends and family here, just make sure you save up for the visit. :D"
