This is a beautiful spot in a
beautiful hotel on a beautiful island. Even in Wailea, where 4 and 5-star restaurants abound, Capische stands tall. The view from the balcony at sunset is breathtaking and the food doesn't hide behind the view. The menu is delicious - prepared with care and served with warmth and attention. Try Happy Hour at the bar for a drink and a taste at reasonable prices. Then stay for dinner. Yes, it is expensive, but an outstanding value compared to other restaurants nearby. Not to be missed."

Great food service and about all
the sunset view perched on a hill over the pacific island sunset A must do experience. organic unique menu Lovely staff thank you"

We were seated in a corner with no
view of the water (despite there being multiple open tables with a view, that were never filled). The appetizers were good, but nothing extraordinary. Similar feeling with the second course and the mains, despite asking for minimal oil and butter, the vegetables were soaked in grease, and the meals were heavy. A big disappointment. Portions were small (which we like). The Ahi tuna was beautifully cooked, steak was ordered medium rare, and was delivered medium well. Any other day, it would have been sent back, but my husband didn't want to wait for a new meal. We did not have dessert, The night was saved by excellent wait staff, which was much appreciated."

On a chilly night, there is no
wind protection from the elements. At first, they tried to position our party on the end, two feet from a stairway. The waiter was non-existent, while busboys, etc. were plentiful. The portions are extremely small for a $40.-- to $50.00 entree. Nothing good worth mentioning, and I find good everywhere."

Had the wage steak and it was
terrible-lots of gristle"

Easily one of the best resturants
on the island. We were seated in the garden area and it was very private and secluded. Food was top notch, wine list great, and service good. A pricey place to eat but worth it. Try the pumpkin gnocchi with lavender cream sauce."

A friend reccomended Capisch - at
Hotel Wailea. We went the first night of our week long visit to Maui. Great decision, nice open air bar, great drinks. Had dinner in private garden area. Lovey all the way around. Good food."

We have been to Capishe several
times. We had another excellent dinner (braised lamb shank for me, carbonara and gnocchi for my wife. The main dishes were great - but my side dish (lemon risotto) had way too much lemon in it - normally this combo is great, but in this case the lemon was overdone. This did not ruin our great meal in any way - just was a bit off. We did have an excellent chocolate dessert and our service was tremendous. We will go back."

Very nice restaurant all
outside.Very good servers .The quality of the chef is 5 star, excellent..The only cons is the quantity is like for Weight Watchers .They offer 2 sizes full and 1/2 (quantity and price) .Is needed the 3rd over (and will be normal). The vine list is excellent (and the sizes of the bottles is normal..lol) In short the quality of the food is excellent !"

We've never been up to this
location before and tried Capische twice during our recent trip to Maui. One night for dinner and the second night at the bar for entertainment (Friday/Saturday nights). Great piano entertainment, by the way.... Outside dining with sunset view was great...tables didnt feel crowded outside at all...and really nice small menu. Tried their Risotto which is a signature dish and it was just excellent. Probably one of the best I've ever had."

Great fish wonderful service and
setting and amazing desserts. It was our last night on Maui and heard about the restaurant from a local friend. What a treat we will go again next year."
Dined on 1/26/2014
The food was great at Capische! It
was our favorite meal of the trip. On the downside, a party of about 30 persons was seated before we came. As groups can be, they were very loud. The hostess seated us right next to this group, even though there were open tables in other areas. So the noise level was uncomfortable. But we would go back again and give it another try because the food was terrific."

What a treasure! We thoroughly
enjoyed our dinner-we had a private garden area . The service and food were wonderful. They tell s we should go there fir the sunset. Next time!"

A perfect place for a romantic
dinner or special occasion. We were given a beautiful secluded table in the garden, with a view. The service was prompt, courteous and friendly, but the food was the star here. The lobster salad and caprise salad were both fresh and delicious. The truffle risotto was fragrant and rich tasting. The steak was melt-in-your mouth with a delicious blue cheese crust and demi glace, and wonderful homemade gnocci. Our absolute favorite was the Cioppino. There was an abundance of seafood, and the broth was so flavorful, we couldn't help but take a spoon and slurp up every drop. Although this meal was quite pricey, it was a real treat and well worth it."
Dined on 1/20/2014
We were seated outside at night.
Lighting was minimal. We were given a very small flashlight to read the menu. The salad & entrée portions were extremely small and very pricey. Service was slow. Self-parking was terrible because the spaces are way too small which makes it difficult to get out of the car after parking. We were celebrating a birthday so this was NOT the place to go. We won't go back."

Stunning view!! Our favorite place
on Maui! Service is outstanding and food is amazing! We will definitely be back."
Dined on 1/20/2014
This restaurant was, by far, the
best meal we had on Maui. It is a short distance from the Four Seasons and the Grand Wailea and well worth going off property. Highly recommend. We took our children (under 10) and their kids menu was terrific. The view is incredible so book a table to enjoy sunset."

This was our fourth trip to
Capische. Every time we visit Maui, the trip isn't complete without dinner. This trip, we chose different menu items and enjoyed every tasty bite. Grab your best friend or significant other and treat your self to a fresh, terrific meal."

This was a return visit to
Capiche? after a couple of years. The food and service were outstanding, and lived up to our memories. The weather was cool and breezy, and our table was outside (we weren't given an option when booking, and the main floor inside tables were full, although I don't know if the 2nd floor was also booked to capacity). To be fair, they called us that afternoon to say bring a sweater with us, but the wind was COLD and definitely impacted our dining experience. The food, while delicious, chilled quickly, as did the cappucino served after dinner. We ate and were gone in an hour, at a location we would otherwise have stayed at for 2. If it's a breezy day, be sure to request an inside table when reserving!"

service level is a 10."

My family and I went to Capische
for Christmas dinner. We had a table in the upper lounge area, but it was actually quite nice and the only noise was from the hotel lobby. The paints was great and added something special to the night. Food was delicious but the timing was somewhat off. My mother and I both ordered appetizers in addition to our entrees. My husband received his entree with our appetizers so he was done when we got our entrees which was a little strange. The food quality was exceptional, the pairings sophisticated and delicious, and the ambience was elegant and comfortable. I would definitely go back!"
Dined on 12/25/2013
When you dine at Capische, do it
right, order the Chef's 7 course food flight. You will experience the best of what the menu offers. It is truly amazing especially the sweet potato gnocchi and the truffle risotto."

We were surprised when we pulled
up to the Wailea Hotel since we've been to Waile several times and didn't know it was there! The hotel looked beautiful. We were then greeted warmly and escorted through the dining room to outside to a small, quiet table outside. It was beautiful and private. The waiter was very knowledgeable, the service was great and the food was wonderful, Living in Napa Valley,we were impressed with the wine list too. We went on our last night, wish we found it sooner as we would have returned for another lovely and romantic dinner. The next day I even received a voice mail from the restaurant thanking us for coming. That was a first."

When we come to Maui we always do
a dinner at Capische, it's a great dining experience."
Dined on 11/30/2013
We started with a Grilled Caesar &
pasta first course. A woman came by with bread and gave us each one tiny piece and then disappeared ( we eventually had to ask the waiter for more). Then came grilled Caesar which was soggy, swimming in olive oil. Then 25 minutes later we got a fistful of awful tasting pasta for I think $19. I left it. At that point we wanted to leave rather than order more or try to explain what was wrong. All in all for 2 glasses of wine, 2 salads and 2 pastas the bill came to over $100. The next day the restaurant did call and ask how we liked it. We provided the same info as here and they thanked us for our input. That in and of itself is encouraging. We eat all over the world and this was in the bottom 5 %"

Good Tuscan food with a flair.
Some questionable combinations like lemon risotto with a lamb shank but otherwise excellent. The truffle risotto is worth the visit."
Dined on 11/12/2013
I have dined here several times
over the years and the food and service were always good. However, our dinner Tuesday, November 12th was terrible! The Caesar salad looked like a chop salad with dressing that had an unpleasant sweet taste. The Waygu tenderloin filet was cooked to order, medium-well, and tender but had an extremely strong, wild game taste."
Dined on 11/12/2013
Without naming names, my friend
and I had just commented on how so many of the Wailea restaurants could use a serious lesson in good service. We had encountered a lot of attitude at mediocre restaurants and it was wearing thin. Then Capische. Not only is their food right up their with some of the most noted chefs, whomever is training their staff should be commended. Stand apart. Friendly, knowledgeable and attentive from the hostess to the bus person. Even got a follow up call the next day to make sure we enjoyed our visit. Highly recommend this lovely place."
Dined on 11/10/2013
Being from the north east I have
great Italian every 58 feet.... With that being said, this was a good restaurant. The bartender was on point with every drink he made, great speciality cocktails. As for the food... They are know for pumpkin gnocchi, which I had the opportunity to try, but did not order, they were awesome. Once again, this place is known for a few of their dishes which I neglected to order due to the fact I thought that would be the easy way out. The lamb was ok and the lobster fish dish was also ok. The service was mediocre from the main waiter, but the other servers were awesome and the "bread guy" was on point. I don't think I would come back here, though I plan on frequenting Maui after this last trip."
Dined on 11/8/2013
The restaurant is part of Hotel
Wailea at the top of hill - awesome views. I think the main courses are a little over-priced, but the three-course meal during Wailea Restaurant Week was outstanding - and they serve Peroni beer :) The appetizer menu is great and there's a better bar set-up now with a few tables. Looks great for drinks and pupu's."

We had our 22nd anniversary here
in and the food, service and ambiance was amazing. The atmosphere was happy, light hearted and just overall friendly. When we go back to the Island I will definately be having dinner here again. Thanks to all the staff at Capische for making our anniversary wonderful!"
Dined on 10/27/2013
For our anniversary my wife and I
went to Maui. I booked a table at Capisce based on reviews. It is beautiful! We were sat on their balcony overlooking the sun setting into the ocean with Lanai in the background. I had smoked-bacon wrapped quail to start and lamb shank for the entrée. Out dessert was crem brûlée three ways. I advise anyone to try it out. The wine is priced very high which is the only real draw back, and out total meal was $250 for the both of us. (That was with a $20 discount) so obviously pricey; but amazing. It was my wife's favorite part of our anniversary."
Dined on 10/20/2013
It's expensive but the food is
outstanding...get a table downstairs in the garden for a quiet, romantic dining experience. Service is very attentive. I was especially impressed when our waiter brought my wife a shawl since it got a bit chilly, and he did it without being asked. That just illustrates this restaurant's attention to detail. Don't miss it!"
Dined on 10/17/2013
The ambiance and the food was
outstanding. Unfortunately, when we were served our dinner, the server dropped the juice from a veal chop down my wife's sleeve. The waiter did not think it was a big deal and offered club soda to try and remove the stain."
Dined on 10/15/2013
We've eaten here several times.
Sunset views are spectacular from the lanai. Service is attentive and friendly, helpful suggestions, a few minor lapses. Prices are high but no more so than other resort fine dining, and at least Capische consistently has delivered, even though more Italian than true Hawaii Regional. I'm a risotto fan, and theirs is probably the best risotto I've had anywhere (with the possible exception of a few out of the way places in the Italian countryside). The gnocchi is perfectly prepared with just the right amount of crisp on the outside. Secondis were all perfectly prepared. The lilikoi tart was somewhat tiny, but we were all so full by that point it worked out fine. One of our top 'musts' anytime were in Maui."
Dined on 10/16/2013
Hotel Wailea is very nice hotel
however this restaurant is not what I expected. Scenery was spectacular, food not so much. I had the Monchong and my wife had the veal. Monchong was a small portion and over powered by the salty sauce. Veal was fatty and a bit chewy. Bolognese was good appetizer, quail was tasty but salty. Next time in Maui I will skip this place. Definitely better choices around and for the price, def not worth it."
Dined on 10/7/2013
Our meal was very good, although
we were mildly surprised at the total bill for four. Two had appetizers and salads, plus desserts, and the bill was still over $450. Everyone had individual drinks, no bottles of wine. The fish special was fresh and delicious . Overall, it was a nice dining experience, despite the wedding reception going on below the dining area. We were treated to Hawaiian music, introduction of the bridal couple, etc.."
Dined on 10/4/2013
Such good reviews... but. We
ordered a cocktail.. and then order the first course. 30 min later the first course came. I asked them to take it away until we got the drink (after asking a couple of time s to check on it)... The drink came with cold appetizers following. The music was blasting 60s pop.. the atmosphere sensational, ruined by the music choice. We left after the appetizer. They did comp it, but a perfect dinner on a limited time in Maui would have been priceless."
Dined on 9/30/2013
Superb service, great food,
equisitely prepared and served. I requested a "garden table" and was pleasantly surprised with the quiet, garden setting. Also, my wife and I shared almost every dish appetizer, entree, salad, dessert and the staff had no problems or issues with doing that, and in fact accomodated us completely in our style of dining."
