Cap City Fine Diner & Bar - GahannaonlineI made an online reservation however when I arrived they had no record of it. I showed them the confirmation from my smartphone but I don't think it was necessary because they never doubted my word. The hostesses were apologetic and told me they were honoring my reservation. They seated me almost immediately. My wife and I have been to this location several times so we know what to expect as the quality and consistency is always high. We had a great sever, Bennett. She was friendly, prompt and professional. My only suggestion would be to have some specials not on the menu as I find the selection to be limited.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA Real Diner!Every time we visit Columbus, we like trying different restaurants. Now, having grown up on the East Coast, dining out was all bout Real Diners. My wife and I loved this updated version of one. Everyone was real friendly and our waiter, Alex, was very knowledgeable on the food and drink. My wife had shrimp linguini in a lemon sauce. It was done really well and the sauce was not too citrusy. I had their signature Meatloaf dish, It was wonderful. One suggestion, order it without the bread as it zoups up too much of the tasty gravy.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinnerWent there for my wife's birthday. The food was great and the service was even better.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMgood comfort foodMeatloaf is very good, blue cheese salad is also very good (a bit too much dressing). '50's diner decor updated with a modern flair, although with bare walls, bare floors, and no tablecloths, and piped-in music playing, it can get rather loud, especially during the dinner and lunch rush.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFriends reconnect after 49 years! We went to Cap City Diner in Gahanna on Saturday, June 1. My wife and I arranged to meet a friend from my early HS days whom I had not seen in 49 years! She was traveling through CMH on her way back to California and I wanted her to eat at a uniquely Columbus restaurant. The food was excellent and we had a great time talking about our lives since then and reminiscing about days gone by.
Bill Pearsol6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently ExcellentThe service is always stellar when we dine here. From the friendly greeting when we arrived about 15 minutes early for our reservation through our meal as we requested condiments and finally when the check arrived promptly, the staff was attentive but not hovering. The rubin sandwich was tasty but needed just a bit more dressing, the chicken was crisp and tasty, the meatloaf was moist and perfectly matched with the zippy barbecue sauce. And of course the mashed potatoes served with the chicken and meatloaf were fluffy and delicious.
This diner was the perfect setting for our casual dinner with our college age daughter and her friend from out of town. It's great to have a "go -to" restaurant so close to home.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMMain reason I like this placeMain reason I like this place is their Gluten Free Menu and Dessert.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMBig group with kids service awesomeBig group with kids service awesome! Came after brunch but they still saved us cinnamon rolls! Above & beyond!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA Gem in GahannaThe silver diner-style doors are your first clue that the dining experience at Cap City is going to be unique and casual. Vibrant colors, neon lights, and decor reminiscent of bygone days greet you as you make your way to your dining table. A friendly wait staff is at the ready to make your dining experience pleasurable. Our party ordered a variety of meals and we enjoyed each dish. The steak was cooked to perfection, the blue plate special was an ample dish of tender beef stroganoff, and the shrimp linguine was a tasty treat. I am glad that we found this gem and would, without question, recommend it to friends.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMOur visitFrom the moment we walked in until we paid our check , the service was excellent . Our table was wobbly and our waiter noticed it before we said anything and had it fixed immediately . The food was amazing, as always. Have been to Cap City many times and most certainly will return .5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat mealOpen table worked out great and very convenient!! No wait when we got there, service was great and food unbelievable. Definite to return5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been to both locationsWe have been to both locations of Cap City. Both my husband and I were disappointed with our food. I ordered the fried chicken dinner. One piece of chicken was just ok the other one was excellent. The mashed potatoes were less than ok and the beans I didn't like them at all. I have ordered this dinner several times in the past. My husband ordered the Reuben sandwich which he said was ok. He stated that he had better at Max and Ermas. This was the first time he had ordered the Rueben. After this experience it will be a while before we return. I would hate to pay that kind of money for the quality of food we received.
Thank You5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a great meal at CapAlways a great meal at Cap City. Chef took excellent care of us, and especially made an impression on the kids. Can't wait to go back.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat PlaceThis place is really great for groups, date nights, birthdays, and if one wants truly excellent service.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great restaurantAlways a wonderful experience. Consistently very good.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGood place for a dinner with clientWent for dinner with my office client manager and my colleagues. Perfect place for such dinner as it was quite luxurious and the food was great. Service was superb.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways reliable, always goodVaried menu, old favorites, always something you will like. Outstanding service, food is served hot, your glass is never empty.
Have been a long time fan of Cameron Mitchell's, all the way back to the orifginal Cameron's on Rt 161 and their outstanding Sunday buffet.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Place to ConsiderThe atmosphere and decor is quite different from their Grandview Heights location. The Gahanna location is smaller and more casual. Regardless of the style of the restaurant, the food was enjoyed by all. I ordered the Two Apple Spinach Salad with shrimp and blue cheese. All of the ingredients were fresh. The shrimp were especially seasoned well and cooked perfectly. The spinach was clean and fresh. The pecans added perfect texture to the dish. I'll be back - no doubt in my mind!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLate Mothers Day & Child BirthdayHad a family group of 8 adults & 3 kids. I made reservations was was able to get in right on time. Good selection of food. My husband had the muscles and noted everyone was open and he loved the broth. I had the meatloaf, very tasty large portion and took some home. I really loved the rolls they served. The birthday person got to choose whatever he wanted off the dessert menu that was a nice suprise. Very modern decor reminded me of someplace that could have been in Epcot at Disney5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat business lunch spotHeld a small business meeting at Cap City and it fits perfectly for that. Food is great, offerings expansive, not overpriced.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Mother's Day brunch.Wonderful Mother's Day brunch. The food and service were both outstanding.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't loseTook all the Moms out for Mother's Day. Everyone had a great time and the food was awesome!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFredEverything was good, nice atmosphere, good food, etc, BUT for one thing: we asked both a manager and our server if the music, which was too loud, could be turned down. They both said yes, but didn't happen. So if you like loud music drowning out your conversation, great place to go. I would rather have had the employees just tell me that they could not reduce the volume.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's DayIt was very, very loud in the restaurant with diners and music. Not easy to converse with 70 and 80 year old mothers. Food was good and everyone was happy but we would not go back for such an occasion because of the noise.
We dine there at other times and enjoy the specialty drinks (grapefruit bellini, pineapple vodka) and the sweet rolls on brunch days.
I specially requested salmon instead of the meat on eggs benedict and it was delicious! Moms were happy with steaks, husband happy with fish.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day '13'Great time overall. Reservation was about 20 minutes late but it was Mother's day and a party of 14 was just seated. Food, service, drinks, and seating location were excellent.
Tony5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day BrunchWe had a reservation for two adults, two kids, and one sling for baby. There were a half dozen booths open and they said that those booths were being held for folks who had specifically requested booths. I noticed on the way out that most of the booths were occupied by two folks of varying ages telling me that they really were not interested in taking care of us and just wanted to get people sat in a hurry as they got crushed with folks coming in as they opened for Mother's Day. All of that last part is understandable, however lying to the customer and saying that all of those tables of two had requested booths - come on!
I would recommend Cap City - but advise you to spell out EXACTLY what table you want when making a reservation.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFavorite SpotI lived in Columbus for a few years, and love to return anytime I am in the area. The food is always top notch, one of my personal favorites being the meatloaf. I had that again on this occasion, and it was just as spectacular as I remember. My fiancee tried the Saturday Blue Plate which was Short Ribs, and they were so tender! I even tried a bite of my son's chicken fingers, and thought they were some of the best I've ever had! I love both locations, and plan on going back the next time we are in town.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSuper Mom's Day Celebration!Took the family here for mom's day and once again impressed by service and food. Love Cap City-our waiter was great. She made all our group at home and welcomed. Can't say enough about staff here-from kids to granny's she was super. Casual and high noise so we fit in we'll! Food was great as always-drinks replenished without hassle. She even brought my 4 year old nephew a small bowl of cherries to munch on after he saw his older sister with a Shirley Temple! Meals are priced right and nobody left hungry. Portions are large-prices aren't.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for Groups!A great choice for my graduation brunch! My server heard my order wrong, but was incredibly kinds and apologetic and fixed it immediately. The plate was even unnecessarily comped at the end. My family and friends enjoyed celebrating there!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently GoodWe always enjoy our Cap City dining experience as the food, service, and atmosphere is consistently good.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat special occasion andGreat special occasion and every day casual dining restaurant. Excellent for both casual dress and business attire. Food and drink choices were both upscale and down to earth. Chefs specials were great and the beef stroganoff, from the Sunday brunch special, I had was outstanding. The service was quick and very energetic. Server was very knowledgeable and very attentive and friendly even though extremely busy due to Mothers Day. I am very much looking forward to return visits.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMTook a large group from differentTook a large group from different cities. Everyone wanted a different type of food, Cap City filled all desired types. everyone was well pleased with their choice. Service was great...friendly and fast.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGood timeI always enjoy coming to Cap City. The food is always good and the atmosphere is wonderful. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the wonderful staff! Keep up the good work!!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe tried the blue cheese chips,We tried the blue cheese chips, fish sandwich with blue cheese cole slaw, pecan crusted pork chops, and chocolate covered peanut butter pie. The chips were addictive, They're a must-have. The blue cheese cole slaw didn't really have the pungency I was expecting. Pork chops were so moist...probably the best I've ever had, and they paired incredibly with the chipotle cheddar mashed potatoes and spinach. The pie was extremely rich...a bite or two were plenty for me. The portions were huge though! I'd definitely come back, but I think I'd need to bring at least 2 more people with me.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a group of seven and itHad a group of seven and it was well serviced and the food was incredible. The Asian Pear Infused Cooler was a HIT.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFun place for dinner. ItsFun place for dinner. Its a little loud but the food makes up for it.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMService at Cap City - GahannaService at Cap City - Gahanna is always outstanding no matter who we have as waitstaff. That alone would keep me coming back!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMDon't miss this for the world.Don't miss this for the world. Their crab cakes are to die for.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love this place. The foodWe love this place. I would definitely recommend this place to others and will go back myself.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Service and Gluten Free!We love Cap City Diner because of their gluten free menu. I love their customer service especially when I make a reservation...I have NEVER had to wait! The servers are amazing and careful about the gluten free diners. I always recommend to out of town friends.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe staff was amazingly helpfulThe staff was amazingly helpful and the food was awesome as usual.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place is just good. TheThis place is just good. The menu has a wide varity of dishes to choose from, the food is excellent, and it comes out looking like a picture in a food magazine. (Did I mention it is really good?) Make sure you leave room for dessert. Most of them are the perfect size to share, but trust me, you will not want to... I recomend the chocolate cake. But be warned, it is HUGE!
The servers are fun and funny and know all about the items on the menu. Their suggestions will not steer you wrong.
The only down side is that the wait for a table can take some time. Make a reservation, there may still be some delay to get a table.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMNice Easter lunch with family.Nice Easter lunch with family. Food was excellent and service was very good as well.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had an appetizer and IWe had an appetizer and I had the Reuben and I had a hard time eating it all, a lot of food for the money. Very good3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always food and serviceAs always food and service were excellent. However, we got stuck at a small table up against the wall where we felt isolated and also had a large party right on top of us. We felt like we were dining with strangers. It was the worst table I have ever had there and if they try to seat me there again I would say no and wait for a different table. It really took away from an otherwise enjoyable meal.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was seriously incredible! The food was seriously incredible! Among our group, we tried the burger, meatloaf, and Southern fried chicken, as well as the blue cheese salad. Everything was AMAZING! Perfect blend of flavors, excellent presentation, generous portions. It's a little bit pricey, but the food is worth it. Just watch out for the onions if you're not a fan - on the salad and burger, they were chopped up finely rather than easy to pick off.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was great! MadeThe service was great! Made a reservation online so there was no wait. The food was exceptional!!!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBest yet!Better than ever. Brought guests that required glutin free food, and they were pleasantly surprised at the variety and taste. One guest didn't arrive, so we did at take-out at the last minute, and it was done so quickly, it was amazing. Loved it!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful EveningMy wife and I had never been to Cap City before and a friend had given us a gift certificate at Christmas. Our server was great and recommended a few different dishes and we ended up ordering what he had pointed out which was his favorites. We split the Calamari to start and our entree's were the talapia and chicken (next time I will try the meatloaf as it came highly recommended). We topped our evening off with the peanut butter pie and some drinks. We were always attended to but never felt rushed or overpowered by the service. Having a date night away from our 2 small kids was wonderful and it was refreshing to try a new restaurant and not feel like we made any bad decisions about the evenings choices or location.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
