Diner Reviews
  • "We were a party of seven. Servers were not very friendly. Food was so so . Hamburgers, came without condiments we had to wait for the servers' attention and then another 5 minutes to get the condiments. (Mayo, mustard, ect.) By then the hamburgers were cold. Right after our lunch they started to set up for a large wedding, they never explained that they needed the space to set up and ended walking to the balcony so we could visit for a little while. I called a couple of times to confirm the reservation , no one answered the phone , left a message and no one called black. Nice building and set up. The view weas great."

  • "The atmosphere was lovely. I was greeted cordially and walked to my table where my friend was awaiting! I ordered the Caesar salad with salmon and wish I was hungrier because it was a generous portion. We ate lunch for about an hour and throughout the lunch the service was good!"

  • "A decent meal (but be sure to check the menu when you order a Caesar salad, as it is made here with strawberries!). The chef even accommodated me by changing the broth for the mussels to one without spicy sausage. Service was excellent with Joyce. Food was pleasant and the view is wonderful."

  • "This restaurant is great for 2 - 4 - 8 - or more guests. I have been there twice within the last 2 weeks with a party of 5 and we have been placed at one of the large round tables which was very difficult to converse with each other. Both times we all moved the chairs close together. The small tables could not accommodate us - and the large round tables were too large for our group of 5."

  • "I've eaten at this restaurant before and the food is usually very good as is the views. The service is usually okay but on more than one occasion, it has suffered. For instance, at the recent brunch, we had to go find our waiter to get refills of drinks."

  • "Canyons at the Crossings is above a beautiful golf course and has a marvelous view of the Pacific Coast at Carlsbad. The outdoor seating creates a placid environment for a business lunch."

  • "Fun lunch spot. Nice views and outdoor deck. Passion fruit ice tea very refreshing. If its your birthday you get a special mini chocolate cake!.. Great homemade potatoe chips a real treat."

  • "Very disappointed by the Sunday Brunch. Food offerings were limited and not replenished as they were picked over. Seemed messy and borderline unsanitary. Service was just ok. The restaurant itself is nice and the views are pretty."

  • "I had a reservation at the Canyons restaurant and they closed early because attendance was low, so I never got the chance to eat there. Perhaps their food is good, maybe even great, but they have such early closing hours (I think 6:30pm on fridays?), so it is not geared towards dinner. I called to confirm my reservation and they said I was good to go, but 10 minutes later they called and said "we are closing early, so we have to cancel your reservation". No offer to reschedule my reservation, or apology for the inconvenience. I guess my reservation was not important enough for them to stay open."

  • "We had a very enjoyable experience. We are from San Clemente and were meeting our San Diego relatives half way for Sunday brunch. The atmosphere is very relaxing and great for conversation. We appreciated the friendly service. The buffet is fabulous. We loved the omelet station and their prime rib is excellent. We plan to do this again."

  • "We live close by and every time I want to go someplace unique with good food, I go to Canyons at The Crossing. I bring out of town guests here always with positive results. The views are stunning, service excellent, and food delicious."

  • "A pleasant venue for the view and good service. We were well attended and enjoyed the view as we chatted. Great salmon for lunch and excellent service by all the staff; waitress, kitchen, and bus boys."

  • "Even thought here was only 3 tables occupied, ours included, the service was pathetic and after we asked for service, we were served with a hissy fit attitude of a 4 year old,. That kind of attitude is definitely not suitable for an establishment like this. We are quite disappointed as we have frequented this establishment before - for lunch, but sad to say the service has become less acceptable."

  • "We had a group of nine people and could talk and hear what was said by each person. . You could hear people around talking but we could not hear their conversations ! Most of us ordered something different, and each dish was enjoyed very much. Was a very relaxing time for all of us."

  • "We had the buffet brunch here last Sunday. The food was great, and the $24.95 included unlimited mimosas. We started out outside to enjoy the view, but ended up coming inside because it was too hot. Evidently, the table we moved to inside was in no man's land so our service was very sketchy but the food, the price and the view were great."

  • "Took my friend for a birthday lunch.....and so glad I did. Sitting outside is a must.....overlooking the golf course and the ocean....wow! We both loved our salads....the basil dressing was fabulous!"

  • "This restaurant has the best view on a beautiful, clear, sunny day. With the floor-to-ceiling windows, we could see the golf course as well as the ocean. The food was good and the service was good. The restaurant reminds me of a good country club, after-golf dining restaurant with a great view."

  • "Not very many items on the menu that you would normally find. We both had the "hamburger" which was named something else and they were very good. It comes with a fried egg in it and neither of us wanted that. I ordered it without the egg and husband had it on the side. Also had a layer of a crispy melted Parmesan type cheese. Whole thing was a bit greasy but very good. Large portion. Wine list did not have our normal choices but what the waiter suggested was very good. Only complaint would be that we didn't feel the waiter was very attentive. And we both thought he needed to wash us a bit."

  • "The Canyons never disappoints. Food is interesting, delicious and perfectly prepared. Pricing is reasonable, service is great and the view is hard to beat. Fantastic place for a business lunch."

  • "My wife and I made a reservation and enjoyed your Thanksgiving brunch. I thought that I was going to pay $30 per person for the brunch and was frankly surprised when I got the bill for $42.50 per person. No problem, I could have misread the on-line reservation data, but frankly I didn't think that the Thanksgiving brunch was worth the premium. I say this having, somewhat hypocritically, since we gave flattering feedback to the chef who warmly greeted us at our table (nice touch)."

  • "I have gone to the Crossings many times for brunch during the week, but never on Sunday. Now, I know to stay away. The service was not good. The cooks were very friendly, but our server came to the table once and we never saw her again. I had to repeatedly kept getting up to serve my own coffee and ask other people for refills. I was also expecting to be able to order out of the regular menu, since that was what came up during the menu search on their website and instead they only served the buffet."

  • "The food was great, the service was priceless - Group of 7, pre-order - food came out exactly on time and Joyce was kind, helpful and professional. This will be my go-to place for customer lunches from now on. Vicke Marz FedEx"

  • "Food and selection were exceptional. The staff was great and loads of fun. We lingered for quite some time and were still there as brunch was ending. The staff notified us of the end and although we wanted some selections after the brunch shut down, they eagerly accommodated our requests. We would definitely recommend to others."

  • "This is a lovely, understated city-owned faciility. It has a nice feel to it. I very much like to meet colleagues and family because you can spend as much time as you want. I have been there at various hours and the food is good enough. The Sunday brunch seems consistent."

  • "The view is spectacular and we will go back for that. However, the food is ok, the service is ok and there's really no ambiance. No music, the place was a ghost town when we walked in. However, it's hard to mess up a glass of wine so we will be back for apps, drinks and sunset."
