The atmosphere was classy yet very comfortable. We were all impressed at the quality of the staff. The food we were served-all courses-was excellent!   • "My wife and I have dined here a number of times over the last couple of years and have always enjoyed the food but found the service to be inconsistent. On this night the food was great as usual but what really stood out was the service. Megan and her assistant (young man with longish blonde hair) were fantastic. Plenty of offers for additional bread, water refills and our wine glasses were kept topped-off throughout the meal.The manager seemed to be on top of things as well, for example we noticed him checking little details like how tables were being reset etc (impressive). If you're looking for fine dining and you're tired of paying ala carte prices then give the CCH a try ... And be sure to ask for Megan!"

The pacing was right on, the presentation, wonderful and thankfully no one asked if we were still "working our food"! For a special night out that is not fussy but memorable, I highly recommend it."

  • "Table wasn't quite ready when we arrived, but was ready soon after. It was in an interesting location, right against a large wall so my date and I were wondering if our server even knew when we were sat. Service was a little slow, but food was amazing. We had the reservation for a little later in the night (8:15) so everything seemed to calm down right around when we were sat but we could tell it had been a hectic night for our server and she seemed a little frazzled. Delicious food over all. We will be back, but most likely earlier in the evening."

The food is always very good, but I guess if Im going to go to a place that looks and feels and charges like its upper class, Id like to see the wait staff dresssed a little better. I mean come on, everyone (staff) was wearing Levis! Most notable was the seating hostess with her baggy worn out jeans, baggy shirt reavling several tatoos, etc. I felt they would have been better placed at Avos or one of the other junk bars in town. I know Ft Collins is a fairly casual/liberal place with a weird mix of conservative ideas, but again, if youre pretending to be a nice upper class restaurant, act like it!!"

  • "We recently visited Fort Collins and opted to go to Chop House to celebrate our anniversary. First, let me say the food was excellent. They could, however, use a little help in the ambience department. The staff were all in jeans, which made us feel overdressed for what we thought was going to be an upscale restaurant. Also surprising was the brown craft type paper covering the nice tablecloths. That said, we enjoyed a leisurely dinner without ever feeling rushed and the food was delicious."

  • "Brought a friend for her birthday and luckily she was too happy to note horrible service. Were ignored >5 minutes after we were sat. Server hard to hear (note:we're 30 somethings). Server assistant looked unshowered, unshaven and didn't have long hair pulled back and was kinda rude. Server described the special, but walked without giving prices. Visited table rarely at best and missed multiple opportunities to refill waters/cocktails. Despite asking for separate checks, to ensure the bday girl didn't have to pay, server dropped a single bill, and we had to talk about money in front of her. Still food was delicious! But with steep prices, poor service left a lot to be desired. Kitchen deserves credit but we won't likely return anytime soon."

  • "We visit this restauant several times a year, usually for special occasions. On this wekdaynight, the service was non-attnentive, and the meal was not thier best. Several times i have gotten the short ribs, but the taste was off and the meat was not as good as usual. Our waiter was distracrted and was not around much."

  • "We went to the Canyon Chophouse for our 10th wedding anniversary, and they treated us fantastically. I had noted the occasion in our Open Table reservation, and when we got there, the hostess wished us happy anniversary, and then the server brought us glasses of champagne from the staff. The food was fantastic, worth the price, and the atmosphere was great - suitable for anything from a casual dinner to a romantic night out. Definitely a great find - we highly recommend!"

  • "We had a great table at which we a group of 5 could easily spread out. Though many tables were taken, there was no feeling of it being crowded, but rather spacious and we felt quite private. The noise level was remarkably low, so that conversation was easy and no strain in understanding each other. We loved the food. The venison was wonderfully tender. The mixed grill was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The wait staff was exceptionally knowledgeable concerning the menu and wine list and did not hesitate to ask questions back to the kitchen as we had some dietary concerns. I will recommend this restaurant any time."

  • "Although this is the classiest steakhouse in town, nothing special goes on with the service or food. No olive oil or balsamic vinegar on the table for the bread. No bread basket, just a server with a tongs placing a slice or two on a tiny bread dish. Ordinary butter, no speciality butters. I was impressed that the patron could choose from a choice of green vegetables and salads, but these were small, unremarkable portions. Why the two dollar extra charge for the caesar salad? Margaritas were too sweet and way to expensive at $10 a glass. We may dine here once a year, but never again for a birthday celebration, as they had no candle on the desert, or even a free dessert. Next occasion I will try Jay's Bistro as their menu, is more creative."

  • "This was my first time at the Chophouse....went with my husband for the Great Plates. I had the trout with potato and spinach hash which was outstanding....still talking about it days later. Would love to have that recipe. Also very good was the crusty bread. It was so good, we inquired as to where they got it, which turned out to be from Texas. We will definitely be back. Still need to explore the bar and also if they have outdoor seating for when the weather warms up."

  • "We had eight people in our group, so the Canyon Chop House put us in "the vault." Having our own space was great; we weren't competing with neighboring tables to be heard. Our reservation was during "Great Plates" week, so we chose meals from the special menu. The food was good, the price was right. Our only complaint, if one could call it that, was that the waiter didn't ask if we'd like coffee or an after-dinner drink. This was our third visit to this restaurant, and we always enjoy it."

  • "If Canyon Chop House would give up the square of butcher paper that comes between the white table cloth and the diner then I would have unqualified enthusiasm for the place. This butcher paper allows them to reuse the same white tablecloth for multiple diners, but it is annoying, catches on the wrist, and detracts from the dining experience. The coat check is a rare service in Fort Collins and was appreciated on this cold night when I had a long bulky coat to stow. I ate there for Great Plates and had an excellent wedge salad, a generous portion of a perfectly rare hangar steak, and a creme brulee to take home to my husband."

  • "Four of us came to dinner at 5 pm on Wednesday, March 5th. We had excellent service, unfortunately I don't recall our waiters name, but he was very attentive. We did have an issue with the bar, we ordered an Arnold Palmer and it tasted like ice tea only, sent it back for lemonade but didn't improve. We also ordered a Mint Juliep, the mint was not muddled, not enough simple syrup and the bourbon was way to strong. Other than those minors issues we will definatlly be back."

  • "we have been here several times previously and enjoyed the food, atmosphere and excellent service. this time, the food was just okay (i got the boneless braised short ribs and i thought there was too much sauce and that it overpowered the dish) and it was a special occasion and we were seated near the restroom hallway. i understand placing a reservation 5-7 days in advance may not get us our ideal table, but i was hoping for better than that."

  • "As usual, the food was outstanding. While our wait staff was very kind and courteous, they were a bit understaffed for the evening. It took a extremely long time to get our entrees (salads came out very promptly, as did dessert). I will say, the waiter bent over backwards to apologize and the manager gave a significant disount on our bottle of wine, which we appreciated. This is the first time I've ever had this happen. Despite the delay, I would still recommend this restaurant."

  • "We decided to try CC during the great plates special. My wife and I always try a bunch the the specials in FOCO. If we like the place we add it to our regularly rotation. We were dining at a "discount" at a place that is normally on the expensive side. When we walked in there was no one to greet us. Not a big deal but at nicer places you go expect to have a hostess to greet you. Great setting, nice decor. We weren't given water for a bit. No spirits list, just scotch. They had a great wine list had I been with some with some drinkers I would have drank wine but I didn't really want a whole bottle. The wedge salad was great. They have a wonderful, vinaigrette blue cheese dressing. The steak I had was cooked perfect. Tasted amazing."

  • "The food was excellent in taste and proportions. We were pushed to a side table by the cold door and kitchen, which was disappointing since we scheduled a reservation. Additionally, we had to wait for "our table" since there was a couple still in it even though there were visible other tables that were available. When we arrived, there wasn't a hostess. A couple was waiting there before us and left because they were never seated. We had to wait at the bar for about 15 minutes after our reservation time. The food definitely made up for it. Not sure if I would go here without a Groupon because of the price. This was the first time we visited this restaurant."

  • "The CCH is very attractive and has an upscale feel. There is an open kitchen, but the majority of the tables can't see it. We arrived early and enjoyed a comfortable bar area with a helpful bartender, but very limited wines by the glass. We were seated promptly for dinner. The appetizer of 3 large scallops were very nicely prepared and presented. The unremarkable salad course arrived 20 minutes later. Two dinners of fish/shrimp (tepid) and duck (overcooked) entrees were delivered an hour and 20 minutes after we were seated. The fish/shrimp, a generous portion, was sent back to be reheated. Nearby tables didn't seem to suffer the slow service the we experienced. Overall, it was too slow, expensive, and inconsistent to recommend."

  • "The environment was pleasant, I noticed all the wait staff wearing blue jeans. My thought was this was a fancy expensive restaurant. The food was expensive, and good. The value for our meal was too expensive for the atmosphere. To be at an expensive restaurant, I would expect a classier environment starting with the wait staff uniforms. We ordered a salad with chicken, and they forgot the chicken. Oops I know this happens, but no credit or extra giving to make up for their mistake. This made us feel disrespected as a customer. They could have offer something extra or comp us for the chicken. It was an expensive meal, with good food, but we left feeling like we forgot or lost something. No wow at this restaurant."
