We were in town from St. Louis and wanted to find a place within walking distance of our hotel (the Marriott Magnificent Mile). We were pleasantly surprised with our experience. The atmosphere is very modern compared to many Mexican restaurants, and the food was very fresh and tasted great. Though it's a little pricey, the table side guacamole was delicious. The brunch menu is reasonably priced. House margarita is pre-made daily, but is still very good!! Try one of the specialty margaritas they are excellent (I had several). I had the carnitas dinner... it was very good except needed much more sauce to put in a tortilla. We had the Quesadillas for a starter, and they were well prepared. I had the Asada Y Enchillada for my entree, and my steak was cooked just the way I like it. Our drinks were very good, as well. The only problem that I have with this restaurant is that they do not have valet parking, which is not good if you want to enjoy a Friday or Saturday night dinner there. Their mixed drinks are refreshing and fun. Great twists on Mexican classics like margaritas, mojitos, sangria, etc. You MUST start with the fresh guacamole. We got tacos and fajitas. The seasonings were fabulous and the sauce on the tacos was AWESOME! Very filling, good portion sizes.
And not to mention we had a great server. Very attentive, friendly, and always making sure our table had enough chips and salsa (the salsa was AMAZING). Definitely coming back with friends! Our server was very friendly and efficient. We had the guacomole prepared medium spicy - it was delicious. We gave the guacomole "chef" license to make it the way he thinks tastes best and he enthusiastically produced a delicious bowl for us! Among the three of us we had the carnitas tacos, enchiladas mole, and enchiladas verdes. All were pronounced excellent by their respective diners! For dessert, we shared the Mexican apple pie which is served on a piping hot iron skillet with a delicious brandy butter sauce, accompanied with a cinnamon ice cream that has a very strong cinnamon flavor -- which complemented the pie perfectly.
