The only issue we had was the noise level--it was a bit loud. Both times, I found the food to be very salty and woke up at around 2 AM, parched. The atmosphere was so loud that you could barely talk to your dining partners. That said, it's good for kids and even has a kids' menu. Getting the negative out of the way, I really liked the food! The shrimp ceviche was delicious, the sopa azteca wonderful, and the elotes loco was just the best. My husband had the blood orange ceviche and that portion was tiny. The domingo sundae was amazing. I do love the food here and would come back, I just wouldn't expect to be able to hold a conversation with my dining partner(s). Great cocktails, too. The waitstaff was just perfect and attentive.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing entress, average salsaI was excited about the Best of Philly voted restaurant, and Cantina lived up to the expectations in almost every way. Of my group of 3, our entress were fabulous (shout out to the mushroom tacos and quinoa enchiladas, incredible!) as was their special appetizer (some sort of carmelized onion flatbread). We also enjoyed 2 delicious desserts: the sundae and the flourless chocolate cake. If you're only choosing one the sundae wins hands down, and it is one of my all time favorite desserts. They also have a unique and tasty selection of cocktails. The reason Cantina only got 4 stars on food is because their salsa was bland and their guacamole was average... these are two key dishes for a Mexican restaurant in my book. We ordered a bunch of different items off the menu. We wanted to be adventurous and try some new foods. Everything was delicious. We especially enjoyed the pork carnitas and the corn (so much that we ordered more). My only criticism was that the portions on everything seemed pretty small for the price. The tacos were tiny! Even the chips brought to the table are special - thin, crisp and warm, and servied with a wonderfully complex sauce rather than the ubiquitous salsa. Service is friendly and efficient without being invasive. The vibrant Mexican decor enhances a most pleasant dining experience.

I am a huge fan of Mexican food, and have been to many Mexican restaurants (both local and downtown) and this is one of the best. We've had the below and all are so good and highly recommended.

- Nachos (out of this world!)
- Fish tacos
- Quinoa enchiladas (I love that this type of enchilada is on the menu - very unique!)
