This casual and exciting Mexican dining experience features an authentic, rustic menu of "Mexico-City Soul Food" with delectable tacos, ceviches and mouth watering barbacoa made with savory fire-roasted meats, grilled vegetables and the freshest seafood. Hand-made tortillas, refreshing salsas and fresh-juice Star Margaritas provide guests

The bustling open-air kitchen adds to the home-style warmth and energy of Canonita as do the patio festoon lighting and umbrellas with lively Salsa and Tejano music. Behind the bar many imported cervezas are featured alongside old-world Sangria and many premium Mexican tequilas, perfect for relaxed sipping.

Diner Reviews
  • "We come here everytime we come to Vegas for lunch or dinner. Great margarita's."

  • "Perhaps it's just we are from Australia and Mexican food has been altered to suit our tastebuds? But I ordered a beef enchilada and my wife ordered a seafood burrito. The burrito had way too much onion and I felt my enchilada was bland. When I asked for salsa I got offered a bottle of the stuff, which I refused. They then made me a salsa with no tomato, and was more fire than a taste enhancement. All that said, the food was fresh, the servings large and the waitress helpful. The starter of guacamole was excellent but the chips were same as we buy at home in a packet. Not what we expected in a restaurant pushing original Mexican food. Maybe it's just what we ordered?"

  • "Food was average, service was poor and prices were high. Will not return."

  • "My wife and I visit Vegas about 4 times a year and what we have noticed is the lack of "Mexican food" restaurants. We have passes Cononita several times since we always stay in the Palazzo but we have never stopped to try it. This time around we needed a quick bite before a Concert/show and we left being pleasantly surprised. The food is fantastic. We had wonderful service and the ambiance was very lively but not chaotic. We will definitely re-visit this place."

  • "My wife and I ate at Canonita on our recent business trip to Las Vegas. I did like the set up of the restaurant and the fact that we could people watch and the food was good, but he wait staff just didn't seem to have their acts together."

  • "Our seat over looked the canal, it was fun to watch. Prices were reasonable . The food was very good, the waitress was fabulous . We enjoyed our meal."

  • "Great Mexican soul food. Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone visiting the Venetian."

  • "We have eaten at Canonita several times and it has never disappointed. The food is very good and a bit different from many typical Mexican restaurants. The atmosphere is outstanding, right on a canal in the heart of the shops of the Venetian. It's a wonderful dining experience and we look forward to returning next time we're in Vegas."

  • "Perfect late night stop after a show. The food was very good but our server was testy and a bit rude."

  • "A great Mexican restaurant located in the Venetian Hotel/Casino Resort. You can dine while listening to gondoliers sing as they float by you. Delicious food, wonderful service and one of our favorite places to dine while on our annual visit to Las Vegas."

  • "Food was cold and bland. Menus are hard to read as words and prices on the sides are rubbed off. Waitress advised all were like that. Service was poor. Not many dinning customers, so no excuse for that. Great place to sit and listen to the gondala singers. Too bad that you have to eat their food to do that."

  • "The service and food was outstanding, went there during prime time did not feel rushed, you can dress up, or go casual, indoors with an out door feel."
    Dined on 5/10/2014
  • "We were seated right next to the canal with a great view of the boats going by. "
    Dined on 5/8/2014
  • "The service is what stood out most. The food was pretty good. FYI they don't have a kids menu and they didn't have our table ready when we arrived but we only had to wait for them to get it prepared. The server was amazing and offered up the 10% locals discount without us even having to ask. "

  • "The food was amazing (the beef rib and pork shoulder). They also have a great happy hour. Located right on the canals at the Venetian so you have a wonderful view. "

  • "We had one of the best salsas ever, and then the chef was kind enough to print out the recipe for us. Cilantro rice was blah. Enchiladas were good, but could have been shared by two. Chips were not warm. Don't know if this is the norm, but it shouldn't be. Overall we had a lovely lunch."

  • "Food was delicious and authentic. We had a table near the water to see the passing gondolas cruise the "river"."

  • "With reservations we were prompty seated by the requested table overlooking the canal. Ordered pork tacos and margaritas. Yummy. Guacomole had a slight kick and was a wow. Would order again! :)"

  • "We made a very last minute reservation for 11 people and they were able to get us in at the time we requested. The hostess was very helpful when we arrived and we were seated quickly. It was clear from then on that they were short on wait staff for the night. Our server was as responsive as she could be with on other large table and others as well, but bar service was very slow. Guacamole was surprisingly good and had a nice spice to it, but my choice for entree was not available so instead had the carne asada, which was fine, but a little tough, even for carne asada. Overall, it worked, and was better than a Chevey's or something like that, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go back."

  • "This is our second trip to Canonita. We came early and enjoyed our margaritas at happy hour. You do have to order chips and salsa. My husband had the pork barbacoa and it was the most tender meat I had ever tried. I had the salmon, which was blackened but not spicy. The location of this restaurant is so charming with the gondoliers singing as they go by. A nice place for Mexican food."

  • "I ate here yesterday and we waited 20 mins for our table to become free and over an hour for our food and due to other business commitments we had to leave our food half eaten."

  • "The Canonita is a fun restaurant located alongside the Grand Canal Shops of the Venetian and Palazzo Resorts. Literally located alongside the canals, it is a bit strange to be enjoying excellent Mexican meals while a gondola passes by with the godola operator singing in Italian. The atmosphere is lively, but quiet enough for a nice dinner conversation. It is located indoors, but the sky mural painted on the Grand Canal ceilings make you feel like your are outdoors. The food is very good and good value. I would definitely go back again and would recommend others to go for a nice, not overly priced meal."

  • "It's in the Venetian along the river, beautiful! Pineapple margarita was very good as was the Sangria - fruity and refreshing. Dark and spicy salsa- liked. For dinner we had ?Pork Barbacoa? Smoky slow cooked and delicious. Plenty of food. We also had grilled MahiMahi. The fish was thick cut, grilled perfectly , and sever over a bed of southern greens with a light cilantro based sauce and a roasted corn salsa... Yummmm . Get reservations using open table as it can fill up."

  • "More than just tacos and buritos. Their signature poke dish is worth going back for. We were a group of guys, but somewhat romantic being next to the canal."
    Dined on 3/20/2014
  • "We have been back twice. Both the food and the service are excellent"

  • "Was on the indoor canal so gondolas going by which was nice. Good food and ambiance. Reasonable price. Centrally located by Venetian so perfect for meal before a show as well. Would definitely go back!"

  • "Tasty and reasonably priced, located right in the Venetian. Good drinks and ambiance."

  • "There are so many great restaurants in Vegas so it was disappointing to just get average. Our service was excellent but the food was just O.K"

  • "I went with a group of friends, and it was a really great place to eat a group meal. The chips and salsa are classic (but skip the guac). Most of us got margaritas or mojitos; the jalapeno margarita had a really nice flavor and extra kick. A friend and I split the taco sampler (5 tacos) and the flautas (on the appetizer menu) . The flautas (especially the avocado/tomatillo sauce that came with it) were amazing! This is a great find in Las Vegas as well: it's super affordable for the location and it's on the "river" inside the Venetian!"

  • "The location on the inside canal in the Venetian was very pleasant and relaxed. It was great for a casual business dinner, quiet enough to talk and the food was very good and reasonable (for Vegas)."

  • "Enjoyed the guacamole! The Shrimp burrito was awesome!"

  • "I brought my wife to Las Vegas for her 40th birthday. We passed by your restaurant several time whilst shopping in the Canal shops. We decided to try. The wait staff was very, friendly and pulchritudinous. The food was excellent and the drinks were just just as palatable. The fact that the restaurant is close to the Gondola rides is a plus and adds to the romantic flair. To add it up... Delicious dinner, awesome drinks and romance= an unforgettable experience. We will be back."

  • "we had good service from Mario, very attentive, his recommendations were excellent and we didn't feel rushed at all and most of all, with how expensive food is in Las Vegas, it was a nice find and moderately priced."

  • "The restaurant is nice, with a great location on the canal. Fun to sit outside and watch the gondolas go by. Service was great but the food was just OKAY."
