Diner Reviews
  • "We arrived for dinner reservations around 9pm and the waitress rushed us through the menu and dinner because she was leaving once we were done. Not very professional."

  • "Won't be back again, Justin was our server he was great! But the spanish busboy he removed my Dinner plate when I was only half way done with it and i paid 29 dollars for that rabbit, and im Korean my girlfriend is Spanish also. After removing my plate without asking if i was complete he decides to speak in spanish to my Fiance's parents and they were laughing. I dont know what the hell he said but if anything was to be said it should of been in ENGLISH. I did not want to say nothing to management since my Fiance's parents were dining with me."

  • "My husband and I don't get to go out often so I search long and hard before picking a place to make sure we are going to have an enjoyable night. Canoe was great for our anniversary date. The service was very good. The food was excellent. We had a great view of the gardens and river while we dined."

  • "I am a frequent visitor of the Atlanta area (at least twice a month, for days at a time). My goal is to visit a different restaurant each time I come. Well, this past weekend I chose the Optimist Restaurant for dinner on Saturday and for brunch on Sunday, I chose the Canoe. Well, let me tell you; I should have gone to the Canoe on both days! Not to say that I did not enjoy the food or the surroundings at the Optimist, but I felt like I had died and gone to heaven when I step foot on the grounds at the Canoe. Everything was absolutely beautiful! From the flowers and plants in the garden to the chickens in the pen near the vegetable garden across the bridge. And, the quiet sound of the river as a mild wind blew. Simply captivating!!!"

  • "We was seated to dinner with a large party right next to us. they had 4 adults and 4 small children, all under the age of 3 it appeared. the small children was screaming very loudly. We then asked to be moved to another table which our waiter Neil and the Manager handled without hesititation. We completed our meal inside and it was wonderful. For appitizers we shared the mussells and corn soup both great. For dinner my wife had the grilled red snapper and I had the seared scallops which were both excellent. the manager went way above for deserts. They brought us 3 different deserts to enjoy at no charge I may mention, due to our mis-fortune with our original table location. I will absolutely be returning to Canoe"

  • "Once again, our experience at Canoe exceeded our expectations. The appetizer, main dishes and desserts were all excellent. After dinner, we had drinks by the river, and were glad that we did."

  • "If you are looking for a romantic, out of ordinary restaurant, then Canoe is definitely your place. There is a heavy emphasize on seafood though... The service is impeccable, the food is great. The prices are reasonable too. If you have time, come out a little early and have a drink by the river (they have an outside bar)."

  • "We had a belated anniversary dinner. Excellent all the way around. Victoria was a great server. Loved the food."

  • "This was our first visit to Canoe, and we would definitely come back. We were originally seated in one of the mid-tier sections with a great view. However, it was a little noisy so we asked to be moved to the outdoor patio which was quiet and pleasant and also had a terrific view of the Chattahoochee River. The food is locally sourced and very fresh. We tried an appetizer of heirloom tomatoes and feta cheese topped with a spicy sorbet which was excellent. For entrees, we tried the rabbit, salmon and chicken, and all loved each one. Dessert was a peach crisp and a carmel corn sundae, all delicious. All food was beautifully presented and perfectly prepared. A real winner!"

  • "Our server perfectly serviced us, checked on us just enough and had great suggestions on drinks and food. We sat outside and although it had rained and was a bit muggy it was comfortable. The property was unique and beautiful. only downside the frogs or crickets?!? Were quite loud...no fault of canoe."

  • "This was my third time to visit Canoe and I introduced several colleagues who were traveling with me. It has been a great experience every time and we will return again as soon as we can. The menu is excellent and quality and presentation is without equal. Service is attentive, helpful and knowledgable. The staff is well trained and truly care about your experience."

  • "Canoe is the go to restaurant in the Vinings area for business lunch. Great service, great food in a quiet setting."

  • "The ambiance was superb. My salmon app and Panna Cota were great, however sent trout and lobster ravioli back and it was still a lil undercooked the second time. Bright spot my server Chrissy was wonderful, knowledgeable, accommodating and professional."

  • "I was nervous when making a reservation to celebrate a dear friend's birthday. I didn't want a stuffy place with pretentious food. To my surprise and gratitude Canoe offered exactly what I (we) wanted. The view is amazing. The food is on point and provides an eclectic menu with much to choose from. I would like compliment the chief and the bartender. The wait or was very helpful and knowledgeable. This experience was amazing and the birthday boy was very pleased. Thank you Canoe!!"

  • "The look and feel of the place warrant a visit. Our server displayed an extensive knowledge of the menu and made recommendations accordingly. Perfect special occasion destination."

  • "We had a party of five and made a last minute reservation, which they accommodated with no problem. The food was very good. No surprises and cooked to perfection. Limited menu but that's OK. Good selection of non traditional cuisine. We had the rabbit, quail, trout and a steak among the our group. Appetizers were good. Good wine list. The only disappointment (and thus the 4 stars overall vs. 5) was the server persistently and frequently interrupted our conversations. She simply talked too much and failed to pick up on the fact that we all found it annoying. Some people love to interact with a chatty waiter but I do not. My guests felt the same way."

  • "I could have ordered every item on the menu. Fortunately our group of four came close. Delicious appetizers! The corn soup, the salmon bites. Fresh, delicious oysters with a clever and refreshing mignonette. We shared a beautiful bottle of wine the sommelier helped us pick out. This has to be my favorite restaurant in Atlanta. I cannot say enough good things about this romantic restaurant tucked alongside the river."

  • "Took the wife there for her birthday. Neither of us had ever been before. To my surprise she order the rabbit and loved it. I had the stuffed quail and thought it was terrific. They dressed up her desert plate with a candle and birthday wishes. Fairly expensive but I felt the meal was worth the price. Definitely suggest you give it a try."

  • "I chose to dine at Canoe for my birthday celebration expecting it to be a lovely experience. Unfortunately, what I got was far from this. The waitress had a bad attitude and it was apparent she didn't to be there, nor serve us. After terrible service, I was charged an extra meal ($25.44) on my bill, that I didn't have!! I have called the restaurant several times to get this rectified with no avail. Needless to say, that I am very disappointed with Canoe. I will not be back and neither will I be recommending it to friends and loved ones."

  • "I proposed to my future bride at brunch and the setting was wonderful when sitting outside by the river. The staff was extremely attentive and brought us out a special dessert with "congratulations" written on the plate. The food was wonderful and the view was spectacular."

  • "This was our 2nd time at Canoe. After the 1st we knew we had to invite my wife's aunt and uncle. They are veteran world travelers and are not shy about expressing their opinions. The results; My wife's aunt raved about the trout. " It' the best trout I've ever had!" and "This chef knows how to cook trout!" were her quotes. My wife's uncle had the duck and expressed the same. He is also finicky about his martinis, think James Bond. He orders them very dry and with a lemon twist. He stated that his were perfect. Good Job Canoe. We will be back."

  • "Husband and I have been wanting to go to Canoe for years now and finally went with my visiting parents for dinner. We sat outside which was beautiful - best part of the whole dinner. We were expecting the food to be phenomenal, but overall it was just OK. The highly recommended rabbit came to the table cold which was sent back and reheated, but nothing was done to compensate for that issue. Everyone else was almost done with their meals by the time the rabbit came back, and it was very mediocre. Nothing crave-worthy. I had the burger which was OK, but the fries were the best in ATL! The other dishes were good, but not amazing, so the best thing was the fries. Probably would only go back for drinks outside and the fries."

  • "Quite simply excellent Menu, Food, service, wine list, ambience and location are perfect, the crab cakes entres are to die for and the rabbit special was a delight, Be sure to get there early and enjoy a drink at the outside bar which overlooks the river or sit at one of the outside areas. Canoe is definitely our new favorite place and is deserving of one of the best restraunts in Atlanta, a must visit"

  • "This is my first time dining at Canoe since the renovations, and love it even more now. I brought my boyfriend for his birthday and sat on the patio. It was a magical evening, as we ate and watched a wedding party take photos... After dinner we sat along the river with a glass of wine and just took in the view. The weather, food, service and ambiance was a perfect date and would recommend this place to any one!"

  • "The setting is beautiful; the food great but each time of our last 3 visits, there were such glaring service problems that I will not chance another return. A pleasant and competent server took our appetizer order at a table of four. After 90 minutes, I had to get up to find the server to ask where the appetizers were....on a Wednesday night! The manager came over a few minutes later, apologized, and 'comped' the appetizers. A gracious move but suggested the restaurant recognized this was pretty bad. I wish I could say this was a unique problem but I could write about a similar faux pas at each of our visits. Maybe we are just unlucky but I won't chance going here again. There are other restaurants of similar quality in town."

  • "Canoe went out of their way and provided us with a dessert plate that rocked. It was complementary and said Happy Anniversary. We were blown away. The food was outstanding with a nice size portion. Prices were reasonable for the ambiance and the service. The Waiter was probably the best Ive ever had anywhere. Really knew the menu, almost like he was the chef. The only negative was by the end of our meal the restaurant was packed and the noise level was so bad we could no longer hear each other across the table. Luckily the View was to die for."

  • "Loved the food. Very attentive staff. But. The noise was so loud. When I spend $140, I don't want to shout to my date."

  • "Definitely the best restaurant in the area. Located right on the river with eloquent grounds, I found the place relaxing despite the the high energy interior setting. The food was fresh and tasty but lacked the uniqueness that would have warranted a 5 from me, but I am a tough food rater. Our waiter Todd was attentive and did not miss a single beat. I ordered a glass of cab and it too was really good. The next time I am in town, I will certainly make another visit. Be prepared for valet parking as the only option."

  • "We celebrated our wedding anniversary here. We had excellent service by an attentive wait staff with great food. The only negative was that we found each dish to be luke warm, never piping hot."

  • "The ambiance and view are great. Service was better than average, but the food was a bit disappointing. Choices for brunch sound good, bu the final product was not."

  • "A lovely little restaurant tucked away against the Chattahoochee. Delicious sticky buns made of Filo dough and an outstanding Smoked Salmon dish. I recommend the sparkling hibiscus cocktail."
    Dined on 7/13/2014
  • "Very beautiful ambiance on the "Hootch", with gardens in bloom. My wife had the Sausage Scrambler and I the Corn Cakes. The presentation was great, but the food was good, but luke warm. This has happened before, and needs to be corrected. Wait staff great."

  • "Best experience, and must go to place. yes it is pricey but really it is worth it, what you pay for is what you get. And for those people that complain about price, then they need to stick to their local places. I will defo go back."
