We sat outside and even at night you can see how beautiful the landscape is. You get that rustic European feel in Atlanta even though the restaurant is in a small shopping center but as soon as you walk through the door you feel like you're in the country. Our waitress was polite and very knowledgable of the courses. I would ask for her by name (Leah). The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. Everything is always spot on. Reservations folks are great. Our server Jenny was knowledgeable and personable. The food was served promptly and everything was great. There were 7 of us for my daughter's birthday and not a single person had one complaint. They asked about buying a bottle of wine but were not pushy. 4 of the 7 had never been to Canoe but commented that they would definitely come back and would bring people with them. Last night was a great night there. Our server, Leslie, was outstanding. She paced the meal perfectly, kept track of our needs throughout dinner and joined in the celebration in a personal way. The place was packed and very busy, but Leslie made us feel like we were her special table. Food was classic Canoe, consistently excellent: Grilled salmon A+, Signature rabbit a winner. And the two fish specials, monkfish and Snapper were presented with Chef Carval's inventive and colorful touch. Lots of subtle flavors and taste surprises in her dishes.

It was the perfect spot to show off Atlanta's best. We were seated at the corner table in the area that is all windows, which gave us a fabulous view of the gorgeous grounds and the river. Staff was impeccable. Food was perfectly prepared and delicious. The only downside is that it was a bit noisy for the type of conversation we were having. I don't consider that a criticism; it's simply a point of information. If the dinner had been with friends, the atmosphere would have been perfect. If you're looking for sedate, this might not fit the bill. With that said, our out-of-town associate declared he "liked the vibe." I'm sure that the price fits the quality, but I cannot get overly enthused. The Salmon was very good to excellent, but the portions were not all that exciting. Same for the trout, which practically seemed to melt in you mouth like butter. This was our first time here, so we were not able to sample some of the other very popular dishes. We recommend the Creme Brulee. I had ordered the famous popcorn ice cream sundae, and was disappointed immediately because the Ice Cream was practically liquified when I was served. The food is consistently delicious; the ambiance is always wonderful; and we've developed a great relationship with a particular member of the excellent wait staff, which makes every occasion a bit more special. Adding to this particular visit was the impromptu engagement which occurred at the table right behind us. I always recommend the soups; and the fish is flavorful and fresh...but having said that, I've never been disappointed in any meal there. After a fabulous dinner and a variety of desserts, we headed out to walk around the beautiful grounds.
