  • "We celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary with my brother and sister in-law. We chose Canoe as they were highly rated on Dine.TO. Canoe did not disappoint. The view was spectacular. There is something to be said about sitting high a top the city watching planes land and take off. The view was only outdone by the food and service we received. Rick, our waiter, was excellent and attended to our every need, and then some. Thanks Rick. The fresh food choices were well prepared and the presentation was exquisite. We all enjoyed our choices from lamb, chicken and fish. You could taste that each item was prepared to perfection."

  • "The place is great, albeit a bit too pricey to go regularly. The food was fantastic. Had a couple appetisers to start: steak tartare, fois gras and some surprisingly delicious mushrooms to share between the 3 of us, which was accompanied by a really tasty bread and spread. Then a little rhubarb to "cleanse the palate", followed by some equally tasty main courses- chicken poutine for myself (not the poutine you're used to- this is some next level stuff), duck for my mum, venison for my dad. And dessert was really yummy- butter tart, sticky tofu pudding and red velvet cake respectively. The service was great- I mentioned it was my dad's 50th, and they took great care of us, gave us a good table and decorated my dad's dessert plate. Awesome."

There was something not quite right with every dish that we ordered which we both felt wasn't really good enough to warrant the price tag.   • "Had a fantastic dining experience at Canoe. Hadn't been here for years but going back soon. My husband had the fluke ceviche which he thoroughly enjoyed, followed by the wagyu beef which was cooked perfectly. My green salad was simple, lightly dressed and lovely, followed by the poached halibut which was beautifully prepared, the cocoa beans adding a nice crunch to the lentils. We usually forgo dessert but we knew they would be special. My husband's ice cream trio of brownie, cookies & cream and lemon thyme flavours was, in his words, "the best ice cream I've ever had!" My cheesecake trio was equally tasty and a perfectly portioned finish. Patrick, our server, was knowledgeable, helpful and good-humoured! Can't beat the view!"

I called in advance to request an adjustment to the Quebec menu, which I arranged prior to the dinner as I was dining with a vegetarian who consumes fish. The staff was unaware. Our table with a view was jammed by the bar which was unromantic. The wait staff kindly reseat us to a booth beside the cutlery station across from the original table then served duck pate and bacon for one of the courses. The vegetarian politely overlooked the situation but I doubt I will revisit Canoe for a while and should I do so again, I'll insist on a better table when spending that much money. Mistura next time."

  • "Though the chef took care to deliver a vegetarian meal, it was very small... consisted of a few tiny pieces of tofu, and some small pieces of vegetables on a hot skillet. The vegetables were still raw and the "sauce" was a tasteless green paste. It was the worst lunch I have had from a restaurant that offered to do something "special" for my vegetarian request. My guests all had fish though the portions were the size of appetizers. They claimed the food was good but I think the charm of this restaurant is the atmosphere and the view, certainly I can't see anyone going for the food... it is far too expensive for what you end up with."

  • "With a restaurant like this, the location is more important than the food. Seated 54 floors above ground you look down on the night life of toronto, mississauga, and even hamilton. The scenery set the mood for a romantic evening. The food was magnificent, it's obvious that those in the kitchen have a great appreciate for the craft and a love of food. The service is equally as impressive, as the server was friendly professional and very knowledgeable about that which was on and off the menu. He was more than will to explain the contents of each mail with a professional and warm smile. The overall experience was amazing and look forward to dining there again."

  • "T'was very nice. The view was spectacular and multiple different staff stopped at the table to ask how things were. Some parts of the meal were complimentary which were fun to receive. Prior to this experience I did not think food had the potential to taste so good. I used to think people who talked about how good certain food was were just exaggerating but I have been proven wrong. Food portions were not large like a Denny's restaurant, but definitely not small like one would expect an expensive restaurant to be; I was not hungry after eating. Overall it was a great experience that I have been talking about."

  • "The service from the hostess to the multiple servers was friendly and efficient. I started with the lobster bisque and it was delicious although I would have liked more pieces of lobster meat. For the main course, I chose the tourtiere as recommended by the waiter. It was tasty but the crust was doughy instead of crispy as I would have preferred. The butter tart wedge was lovely and it was accompanied by some dulce de leche and whipped cream but I was craving ice cream instead. All in all a very enjoyable meal, excellent service and unforgettable views."

  • "Food was decent, service was definitely not very good in comparison to Auberge or other high end restaurants in this price bracket. In our two hours there, the server stopped by maybe only once or twice after taking our initial order. Maybe it was because we were not business professionals in our fifties, but the service left much to be desired for a place that's almost $100 per head. Food wasn't bad. Took nearly an hour to come out though, we told the server we were in a rush, but he didn't make the order with the kitchen until 25 minutes had passed after giving us our appetizers."

  • "There was no bottled mineral water (and that seems to be the bad trend in some restaurants). One has to drink tap water carbonated by the restaurant that has no taste and goes flat just being poured. The menu and service was still very good. Nice plate presentation. My guest's dinner was delicious and without any problems, mine had slip-ups. Although the toasted brioche went well with my foie gras, it certainly was not a good match for steak tartar. The duck breast was well cooked, but that tasteless mushroom and oats "haggis" on the plate was so dry it tasted like saw dust. The bed of risotto and the sauce was very salty even for me who uses salt generously. I am satisfied they took my main off the bill. This place is very noisy when busy."

Server Stefan (I think that was his name) was engaging, pleasant and knew when to step in and when to leave us alone. We had a wonderful time (it was her first time, it was my millionth) and she can't wait to visit again. Thanks for a great evening."
