  • "We were fortunate to sit at Peter Canlis' table for our anniversary dinner, with a great view over the entire restaurant and outside. New to Seattle (and Canlis), we chose the Chef's tasting menu and classic wine pairings. Our taste buds were in heaven with every course and pairing and the service was spectacular. Even on a cloudy/rainy evening, the views were gorgeous and then all of a sudden, everyone started pointing out the window and pulling out their phones/cameras. We turned to behold the most vibrant rainbow we'd ever seen. It was the perfect evening and we won't be waiting for a special occasion to visit again!"

  • "My girlfriend and I went for her birthday. We both got the Chef's tasting menu, she doesn't like seafood so she opted for the vegetarian menu. The food was exceptional as was the service. The wait staff do an outstanding job. Yes it's expensive, but it's fine dining with the upscale, but not pretentious atmosphere. We went on a Monday and it was very quite, just some great piano in the background, including a rendition of the classic "highway to the danger zone" by Kenny Loggins from the movie Top Gun! This was one of the highlights of our visit!"

  • "I chose this place for our 10th anniversary because it was reputed one of the best restaurants in Seattle. I was not wrong. The food was out of this world good, interesting, flavorful, creative. The staff was attentive and explained all the food to us. They wished us a happy anniversary. We loved it. It's expensive, so I don't know when we can come back, but it's definitely on the short list for fine dining for us."

  • "This is a fabulous restaurant. It nevers disappoints for great service, views, food, wine, ambience and will make any reason to dress up and go out even more special. Top tip - book early to avoid disappointment. Book an Uber there and back. Have the tasting menu for your table with the pairing wines. The food and wine harmonize like Lennon and McCartney. Course after delectible course greets you with great taste and refinement and a couple of the courses this time were absolutely out of this world."

  • "Reservation at 9:30.Waited 45 minutes, then sat in bar. Another half hour we ordered appetizers. Oysters, steak tartare, truffle fries. Oysters- favorite. Service- attentive and knowledgeable about wine. She created a tasting menu with wine pairing. A window table was available and no hesitation, our server agreed to let us move. Two of our group had ethical issues with foie gras, might ask before a blind tasting. I was thrilled, balanced flavors-salty, sweet, smooth and crunchy paired with sauternes.Pea soup was delicious with a chenin blanc. Highlight-lamb. Perfectly cooked, beautiful local cab.Halibut- least favorite. Beautiful food, great staff."

  • "Loved the personable, relaxed atmosphere with real music in the background. Incredible view as well. Timely , gracious service but not hovering. My husband, who reads about wine nightly, loves the wide range on the wine list. Both of us had the Peter Canlis prawns and thought them the best we've ever had. I loved my steak tartar and he loved the fois gras taurine. We also enjoyed my fish and his lamb. The beautiful as well as tasty introductory tidbits were a great welcoming touch. On the whole, an outstanding evening."

  • "My wife's birthday dinner, we sat in the bar and asked ourselves when the last time we waited over an hour for a reservation, never. Staff is professional, although a bit harried. Tasting menu was not available, also a first. The real issue for us was the food, which won't quite do it for the average food obsessed diner. It reminds me of a fairly solid steak house, they have a couple hits, but chef isn't taking any chances. If you want food that will engage, go someplace else."

  • "This was our first time to Canlis, and we went there for my girlfriend's birthday. The valet is fantastic and memorizes your car - no ticket. The bar area is smaller, but very adequate to have a cocktail prior to being seated. The bartender is excellent and can make any cocktail. The table service and sommelier are excellent with a very astute attention to detail that I have only found in New York upscale restaurants. The food was exquisite with the best duck that we have ever had. This was followed by a special desert presentation for my girlfriend's birthday that was exquisite. To really experience this properly, you will need at least 2 hours and enjoy the ambience along with a few cocktails. We look forward to returning soon."

  • "I took my girlfriend here for a special date night and we had a remarkable dining experience. I had expected the atmosphere to be stuffy and pretentious but it wasn't at all. The servers were friendly and welcoming, and the wine steward had exceptional knowledge of their list. The timing of our courses was spot on and the food was delicious (we tried a four-course menu). We also loved the view of Lake Union at night from the large windows. This is certainly a splurge restaurant but worth it for a special occasion."

  • "Our kids gave us a gift certificate for Canlis because they wanted us to have a special evening together. It was more than special. We've had memorable dinners out before, but this was the first time the memories will all be from the restaurant itself. We don't normally eat at restaurants like Canlis, but we were treated graciously, attentively and considerately. Beyond our own world class food and service, we witnessed a professional staff really caring for the people they were serving. They knew some of the diners individually, greeting some with hugs and words of welcome that showed a real acquaintance. The food, ambience and service were all that we expected, but the genuine caring for customers set this experience apart for us."

  • "First of all, I've wanted to go to Canlis for pretty much my entire life. My boyfriend and I are major foodies, so when he planned a trip to visit me for new year's it was #1 on our list. A NYE rez wasn't available only a month ahead of time, but luckily I was able to book dinner later that week. My expectations were very high, and the experience still totally blew my mind. It was so special, and I can't wait to go again! Canlis is definitely the best restaurant in Seattle, and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone:)"

  • "This is probably the classiest restaurant in Seattle. There is a great view of Gas Works park and Lake Union if you're here before sunset. Service was wonderful and not rushed. Most importantly food was perfectly seasoned and cooked. My husband ordered the prawns for his first course which were perfectly poached with a delicious sauce. We both had wagyu steaks for our second course which I highly recommend if you are celebrating a special occasion. This is a very intimate restaurant and Canlis lived up to its reputation. If you are in search of an extra special night and dinner, I would definitely choose Canlis over The Met or El Gaucho!"

  • "The staff were very courteous and used our name periodically which was a nice touch. Service was very good with the exception of the time it took to order our wine and then find out the one we wanted was out of stock. The halibut was a bit dry and somewhat bland in taste. It was a bit noisy when the piano was somewhat loud. The food was basically good, but not really worth the price so our value received was not what we hoped it would be."
