This restaurant should be far more famous than it is. The food is out-of-this-world. The Indian element is wonderfully integrated with California contemporary creativity. The service is attentive but never intrusive. The only problem is the noise from the adjacent bar which is quite intrusive early on but eases off about 8 PM. A screen between the two rooms would be a great improvement.

We spent a weekend in SF and Campton Place provided highlights 2x. The lamb wrap we had for afternoon snack in the bar was the best we'd ever had. Every ingredient stood out. Brunch the next day included an incredible corn veloute & every other dish was almost as creative and memorable. The service was perfect all the way through---friendly and attentive when we wanted engagement, invisible at other times. Considering the quality of the ingredients, the cuisine and the service, the price was reasonable. I've eaten at most Michelin-starred restaurants in SF and this is atop the list for its creative combinations and flawless service.

We celebrated our anniversary with the 9 course tasting menu and premium wine pairing. I cannot tell you my favorite course because they all were the best possible version of themselves. The service from all wait staff was knowledgeable, personable and professional. We let them know our plan was to be there all evening and we finished in a well paced 4 hours that felt like 2. We enjoyed a before dinner cocktail with several amuse bouches to start and a 3rd dessert to recognize our anniversary. The wines and sommelier were delightful too!

I wish we had known when we made a booking that the weekend had a limited set of options in terms of the menu. Other than a Prix Fix menu there was nothing else. The options were also limited for vegetarians, but the food we had was good.

Celebrated a milestone b-day with the "Spice Route" prix fixe dinner menu with wine pairing. We were pleasantly surprised with the varied and delicious courses. The 6 courses (incl. dessert) were varied and flavorful. Certainly deserving of its Michelin star. Service was efficient, and courses were timed perfectly (we were seated at 630 and left around 930, just enough time to enjoy the wonderful menu). We will absolutely return to sample the regular ala carte menu.

Our first time dining at the Campton Place Restaurant and really, our first time experiencing Indian cuisine of this caliber. All I can say is wow. Go immediately. As local to San Francisco and having experienced much of our fine restaurant community, it's definitely our new favorite. It is expensive comparatively, but for those special occasions, it's definitely to be considered. OMG try the Spice Pot. The only strike is 4 of 5 stars for ambience. While the decor is quite nice, it sits right off the lobby of the hotel and can feel a bit exposed. The bar doesn't get really loud, but it adds to the small ding if you are looking for a romantic location. If you mind this, ask for one of the booths which I think will remove the issue.

Wow! This is something special. It has the super attentive service, fancy shmancy decor and astoundingly creative and wonderful food. There is a serious genius in the kitchen coming up with Indian fusion dishes that you will never see anywhere else. I don't want to give the details so that you can be surprised and amazed by what they whip up. We had nearly a dozen courses and everything was top notch. It is certainly pricey, but you are getting what you pay for and the amazing thing is that it's not so hard to get a reservation. It is worth splurging here for a meal you won't forget.

I wanted to surprise my wife with a special dinner on short notice. The "hot" restaurants were not available. But the Campton Place had great reviews and was available. What a remarkable dinner in an intimate setting. Remarkable? The seasonal fixe prixe menu was remarkable and allowed for substitutions. Each course stood on its own yet blended, fused with subtle Indian flavors. The wait staff cared and was fun when we wanted and invisible when appropriate. No long waits between courses. We could carry on a conversation without having to yell over others. Quite, elegant. Highly recommend. OK, the name of the restaurant will not be cool enough for some.

I had heard a lot about this place and had wanted to try it for a while. I was not disappointed. The service was excellent - almost too much but in the right spirit. The food was inventive and delicious. We opted out of the tasting menu and instead mixed and matched a number of dishes and the portions seemed small but in the end we were quite full - admittedly the chef sent out a bunch of small things for us to try and palate cleansers, etc. on the house (lovely touch). I'd go back and try the tasting menu next time (the lobster, lamb, spice pot, everything really was delicious and at the same time interesting). They go way over the top with their presentation- in a good way. Indian hospitality with wonderful local ingredients. Well done.

We had lunch during Dine About Town, and had a wonderful experience. The menu for the event was limited, but the choices were all delicious. My mother & I chose different options & shared so we could taste everything. First, we received a complimentary amuse bouche of cold avocado & apple foam/soup, then had a choice of a wonderful, fresh, generous market salad or a rich, flavorful corn soup. Entrees were perfectly cooked salmon or an incredibly juicy slow-roasted chicken, which was served with a really interesting mix of vegetables & stone fruit. Dessert was an incredible buttermilk panna cotta with rhubarb. Of course, all the dishes were more intricate than my brief descriptions would indicate. Service was perfect. Can't wait to go again!

We found this restaurant by chance and it was close to our hotel in Union Square. We even thought of cancelling because it may be just too quiet and overpriced for the sake of it. But the food was to die for, yes it is expensive however the taste, presentation and quality of service made it all worth while. We opted for the chef tasting menu and in all had 10 different items of food delivered to our table. The smiles on our faces told the story of how good the food tasted. Save up your money and go rather than settle for a bit cheaper and just be only satisfied with your meal. We will be booking the sister restaurants in London pretty soon

My wife had the scallops to start, the tenderloin for main and chocolate for dessert. I had the lobster to start, the tenderloin for main and cheese for dessert. Everything was great. The beef tenderloin was prepares perfectly. The chef uses sous-vide method to cook the beef. Unbelievable flavour and texture.

Food was really good. Loved the housemade lemonade with ginger and mint. But I was really surprised by the service. After being sat (1:45p) I was admonished to order before 2pm because the kitchen closed (does it really need to be said in a restaurant of this caliber?) They served the soup and didn't give us soup spoons. We asked a person walking by but he was not interested in us as he was working on another task and gave us no sense that he would come back or get someone to help us. Then another server apologized and quickly gave us spoons so we could eat the soup. Then I asked if there was bread to go with the soup and he apologized and got bread too. Pelegrino sat on the coaster and we poured it ourselves after the first pour.
