Wow what an amazing experience! We flew in from TO to sample the SF food scene, and Campton Place was the highlight. The Chef hails from South India and the food is the most interesting I've had since Meadowood. His take on Chaas was delightful and the lamb was cooked Sous Vide with Indian spiced Panko crust. Mango dessert was wrapped in a cylinder and tasted exactly like Alphonso. I see 2 stars coming!

Amazing experience! We opted for the 9 course degustation menu which we were allowed to modify as we wished, so we did a combo spice route menu with 3 additional items of the chef's choosing. Everything was delicious and the waitstaff was wonderful. Portion sizes were very decent and we left the restaurant feeling very happy and full! Highly recommended!

Exquisite cuisine will effect the palate in three different areas in each bite. The duck at Campton Place did that. The white chocolate cheesecake was an artful blend of textures and taste. Well done.

We hadn't been to Campton Place in years. We had the Spice Route tasting menu and the food was spectacular. Perfectly prepared and unlike anything my friend or I had tried. Only off note was the sommelier. Just pick your wine yourself. He was confused and irritating.

We went for my birthday and for a pre-theater meal. The service was outstanding and the pre-theater price-fixed menu was excellent and a good value, particularly with all the extra appetizers, desserts and birthday cake they threw in. I loved my spice pot appetizer and my beef entree and my husband loved his salmon entree. I honestly wish I had asked for two appetizers and an entree instead of a dessert since the desserts weren't quite as good as the savories. I also wish I knew in advance that they charged a $50 corkage fee. Besides those minor complaints, I thought it was a fabulous restaurant!

There is no way to convey the experience at Campton Place. We did the 9 course prix fixe with the premium wine pairing and each dish was tailored to the specific desire of each person. Spectacular service and no words to describe the amazing flavor sensations in each dish. We felt extremely pampered throughout our entire four hour plus diner. Kudos to the chef and staff.

The current chef (there have been many) prepares delicious Indian-inspired food that the spice-shy might not appreciate. This is a very comfortable, special occasion place (unless money is no object). As the waiter forewarned us, the portions are small, so sharing is not practical. The presentation is impeccable, the menu offerings are exotic, and the bill might inspire sticker shock.

My wide and I celebrated our wedding anniversary by going to dinner here. Everything was marvelous! The food was delicious! We both had the spice route prix fixe. It was a very flavorful fusion of California ingredients with an Indian twist. We also had the premium wine pairing and each selection was a superb match to the meal. We are gluten-free eaters, which was no problem for the chef to accommodate. We even received a signed congratulations card, and a special dessert (in addition to the dessert that was already part of the menu)! The service was amazing as well - every need was looked after.

Camptom Place is definitely a special occasion place given the high price and the need to dress quite formally. However, their Indian/Californian fusion cuisine works perfectly together! The food is very innovative, fresh and well balanced. The service is for the most part, seamless, and they apologize for any mistakes they do make such as forgetting ordered items. The only downside is the booth seats are too soft, and even my 6'1" husband sunk into the seat so low he felt the table was too high, so imagine how I felt at 5'1"! But otherwise a great place to go for a celebration!

The food itself is amazing!! The fusion of the herbs, spices, and entrées are exquisite. My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and were warmly greeted by exceptional service and lovely gifts. Our server was extremely helpful, friendly, and provided a great experience to our evening. My wife and I had the 6 course meal and undoubtedly recommend it to anyone. There is a wide variety of tasteful wines that pefectly pair up w/ each of the courses. And the courses can be easily substituted for another item upon request, as the service is very pleasing towards any dietary restrictions you may have. Again, overall wonderful!!

I professionally review food and wine. The service was THE best that I have ever had. Mind readers is what they are. When I was not pleased with the wine, before I had even mentioned it, they brought another bottle that was more to my liking. The food was unique and delightful. My wife loved everything and it really set the tone for our anniversary. I highly recommend. This is not a paid endorsement. :)

Everything was great, except: 1) everybody at the table must have the same # of courses (NO 3 courses for one and 6 courses for another) 2) for the Theatre Menu, if you want the 3-course meal, you get to pick an appetizer/entree/dessert; however, if you want the 6-course meal, you have to go "blind" (meaning the chef picks your dishes and EVERYBODY at the table will have the SAME thing; TOTALLY not acceptable); otherwise, you can go with the 6-course meal from the Spicy Route Menu or Vegetarian Menu Seriously, we're paying about $100 for a 6-course meal and we don't get to pick what we can have from that very limited Theatre Menu -- 5 appetizers, 5 entrees & 3 desserts. Just the whole menu/ordering process took 1 hour...bad experience.

This restaurant should be far more famous than it is. The food is out-of-this-world. The Indian element is wonderfully integrated with California contemporary creativity. The service is attentive but never intrusive. The only problem is the noise from the adjacent bar which is quite intrusive early on but eases off about 8 PM. A screen between the two rooms would be a great improvement.

We spent a weekend in SF and Campton Place provided highlights 2x. The lamb wrap we had for afternoon snack in the bar was the best we'd ever had. Every ingredient stood out. Brunch the next day included an incredible corn veloute & every other dish was almost as creative and memorable. The service was perfect all the way through---friendly and attentive when we wanted engagement, invisible at other times. Considering the quality of the ingredients, the cuisine and the service, the price was reasonable. I've eaten at most Michelin-starred restaurants in SF and this is atop the list for its creative combinations and flawless service.

We celebrated our anniversary with the 9 course tasting menu and premium wine pairing. I cannot tell you my favorite course because they all were the best possible version of themselves. The service from all wait staff was knowledgeable, personable and professional. We let them know our plan was to be there all evening and we finished in a well paced 4 hours that felt like 2. We enjoyed a before dinner cocktail with several amuse bouches to start and a 3rd dessert to recognize our anniversary. The wines and sommelier were delightful too!

Celebrated a milestone b-day with the "Spice Route" prix fixe dinner menu with wine pairing. We were pleasantly surprised with the varied and delicious courses. The 6 courses (incl. dessert) were varied and flavorful. Certainly deserving of its Michelin star. Service was efficient, and courses were timed perfectly (we were seated at 630 and left around 930, just enough time to enjoy the wonderful menu). We will absolutely return to sample the regular ala carte menu.

Our first time dining at the Campton Place Restaurant and really, our first time experiencing Indian cuisine of this caliber. All I can say is wow. Go immediately. As local to San Francisco and having experienced much of our fine restaurant community, it's definitely our new favorite. It is expensive comparatively, but for those special occasions, it's definitely to be considered. OMG try the Spice Pot. The only strike is 4 of 5 stars for ambience. While the decor is quite nice, it sits right off the lobby of the hotel and can feel a bit exposed. The bar doesn't get really loud, but it adds to the small ding if you are looking for a romantic location. If you mind this, ask for one of the booths which I think will remove the issue.

Wow! This is something special. It has the super attentive service, fancy shmancy decor and astoundingly creative and wonderful food. There is a serious genius in the kitchen coming up with Indian fusion dishes that you will never see anywhere else. I don't want to give the details so that you can be surprised and amazed by what they whip up. We had nearly a dozen courses and everything was top notch. It is certainly pricey, but you are getting what you pay for and the amazing thing is that it's not so hard to get a reservation. It is worth splurging here for a meal you won't forget.

I wanted to surprise my wife with a special dinner on short notice. The "hot" restaurants were not available. But the Campton Place had great reviews and was available. What a remarkable dinner in an intimate setting. Remarkable? The seasonal fixe prixe menu was remarkable and allowed for substitutions. Each course stood on its own yet blended, fused with subtle Indian flavors. The wait staff cared and was fun when we wanted and invisible when appropriate. No long waits between courses. We could carry on a conversation without having to yell over others. Quite, elegant. Highly recommend. OK, the name of the restaurant will not be cool enough for some.
