  • "Delicious tasting menu with interesting pairings. Having been here several times, the kitchen continues to try new flavors and rarely missteps. They are happy to accommodate wine preferences and will go out of their way to make your evening special."

  • "I had heard a lot about this place and had wanted to try it for a while. I was not disappointed. The service was excellent - almost too much but in the right spirit. The food was inventive and delicious. We opted out of the tasting menu and instead mixed and matched a number of dishes and the portions seemed small but in the end we were quite full - admittedly the chef sent out a bunch of small things for us to try and palate cleansers, etc. on the house (lovely touch). I'd go back and try the tasting menu next time (the lobster, lamb, spice pot, everything really was delicious and at the same time interesting). They go way over the top with their presentation- in a good way. Indian hospitality with wonderful local ingredients. Well done."

  • "The combination of a French trained Chef who is from Southern India is unbeatable. The menu is not large but the choices are prepared with extraordinary care and thought. The Indian spices applied to already delicious food gives one an exceptional experience. When you add incredible service, you have a marvelous culinary experience."

  • "We had lunch during Dine About Town, and had a wonderful experience. The menu for the event was limited, but the choices were all delicious. My mother & I chose different options & shared so we could taste everything. First, we received a complimentary amuse bouche of cold avocado & apple foam/soup, then had a choice of a wonderful, fresh, generous market salad or a rich, flavorful corn soup. Entrees were perfectly cooked salmon or an incredibly juicy slow-roasted chicken, which was served with a really interesting mix of vegetables & stone fruit. Dessert was an incredible buttermilk panna cotta with rhubarb. Of course, all the dishes were more intricate than my brief descriptions would indicate. Service was perfect. Can't wait to go again!"

  • "Went there during dine about town; the soup and the king salmon were perfect!"

  • "We had the tasting menu here for $100.00 apiece. I told the waiter that I was allergic to cilantro. Rather than substitute side dishes containing cilantro the chef gave me a vegetarian dinner. When I saw my daughter eating delicious looking fish, filet and all the rest I was not happy."

  • "Super light and fluffy with the best fruit and each ingredient must have been hand made. Again , Sachin made the experience wonderful"

  • "Sachin was amazing, he remembered my wife's favorite items from a previous year visit and was absolutely perfect. Had the french toast which is unlike any other french toast and light and delicious"

  • "We found this restaurant by chance and it was close to our hotel in Union Square. We even thought of cancelling because it may be just too quiet and overpriced for the sake of it. But the food was to die for, yes it is expensive however the taste, presentation and quality of service made it all worth while. We opted for the chef tasting menu and in all had 10 different items of food delivered to our table. The smiles on our faces told the story of how good the food tasted. Save up your money and go rather than settle for a bit cheaper and just be only satisfied with your meal. We will be booking the sister restaurants in London pretty soon"

  • "A friend and I had a lovely lunch during Dine Around Week. We always chose Campton Place so we can experience this wonderful restaurant at reasonable prices. Fabulous food, cocktails, and service."

  • "This is the place to go if you want unbelievable service along with great food and presentation. When I put my handbag on a spare chair, they brought out a small ottoman, put it on the floor next to my own chair, and placed the bag on that. The food is wonderful and comes perfectly portioned, so you don't end up carrying half your meal home. You can just relax and enjoy the food, period. As for presentation, my soup came as a bowl filled with dry ingredients. They then poured the broth into the bowl. What a great idea--no spills, just elegance."

  • "Food was really good. Loved the housemade lemonade with ginger and mint. But I was really surprised by the service. After being sat (1:45p) I was admonished to order before 2pm because the kitchen closed (does it really need to be said in a restaurant of this caliber?) They served the soup and didn't give us soup spoons. We asked a person walking by but he was not interested in us as he was working on another task and gave us no sense that he would come back or get someone to help us. Then another server apologized and quickly gave us spoons so we could eat the soup. Then I asked if there was bread to go with the soup and he apologized and got bread too. Pelegrino sat on the coaster and we poured it ourselves after the first pour. "

  • "We couldn't think of a better way to start our California vacation than to enjoy one of the best meals that we ever had. To top it off the service was outstanding. We had the theatre option. My wife had the scallops to start, the tenderloin for main and chocolate for dessert. I had the lobster to start, the tenderloin for main and cheese for dessert. Everything was great. The beef tenderloin was prepares perfectly. The chef uses sous-vide method to cook the beef. Unbelievable flavour and texture."

  • "We've been stunned from the very beginning until the end by the quality of the plates. It's from far, our best meal ever! Everything, presentation, aromas, flavors, were outstanding! Compliments au Chef !"

  • "I usually eat every meal at this restaurant when visiting. I noticed a drastically different service level in the bar , there are 2 bartenders that serve and one is fantastic and provides great service and the other is extremely poor in his manners and attitude. There was a large bug going through the bar area pointed to by one of the patrons and the bar tender gently and quietly removed it. Caitlyn makes the bar amazing and her attitude is amazing The food in the tasting menu wasn't as good as past visits - past visits they had many profiles and this visit they all seemed to have the same flavors. This is one of my favorite places in the world so slightly disappointed not as amazing as last visits. Service was spectacular as normal"

  • "We dined here during Dine About Town. The special menu was a value. First course corn veloute was exceptional in taste and presentation. Salmon second course was ordinary. Panna cotta dessert was very nice. Service was inconsistent. The dining room is beautiful with very nice ambiance. Let's hope the staff was having an "off" day."
    Dined on 6/3/2014
  • "The Spice Route menu is superb, with subtle Indian tastes. Wine pairing works well. For food and wine hard to beat. But atmosphere and lighting is dingy, needs more chic design, not just businessmen. Make it more like the bar next door so it feels like a fun place to eat."

  • "We went to Campton Place for lunch during the "Dine Around Town" special. The food was delicious, starting with an extraordinary amuse bouche, an unusually beautiful and tasty salad, and luscious salmon. Everything looked and tasted exquisite. Service was off. It would be a 5-star if service were a bit better."

  • "I had the Dine About Town Lunch here a year ago and two days ago. Both times I was made to feel special and the food was truly wonderful. The food is not too risky. Everything was, of course, fresh and perfectly presented. The matching wines were very good. Service was attentive but not hovering. A great restaurant for a special occasion. I really appreciate the low noise level - it is easy to dine and have a quiet conversation."

  • "The palate cleanser was tricky good. Lime at first then then texture. Refreshed! All courses different spices. No weak dishes.i even ate dessert, good ending!. The wine pairing was a little weak. I would have preferred a sparkling with the lobster, and not 2 rheislings back to back. May be not a Burgandy with the fowl , many be a Tempranillo . "

  • "We are never disappointed when we come to dine at the Campton Place. The service is impeccable and the food is always a culinary treat. This is a high-end restaurant in the heart of tourists, but it is comfortable and a locals spot. "

  • "We had the tasting menu, and it was unbelievable. The Indian-California inspired menu is truly creative, and each dish combined favors exquisitely. It is a very unique experience for the palate. The wine list was also very good. The service was outstanding-- gracious, elegant, and well-paced. The decor is elegant and intimate-- perfect for a romantic, quiet evening, allowing one to savor the food. My only regret is that it is set in a hotel-- this always feels odd to me for some reason, but it is a nice hotel."

  • "An excellent spot for fusion Indian, one of the best restaurants I have been to in this category. I think the chef is destined for bigger things considering how good a job he does. Extremely attentive service and a romantic quiet atmosphere."

  • "Our anniversary dinner could not have been better! The food was exquisite, the service impeccable. Don't forget to order the spice pot - a very special appetizer. Our favorite spot in San Francisco."
    Dined on 5/14/2014
  • "We ordered the 9 course tasting menu, complete with accompanying wines. We were asked if there was any special direction for the Chef to take, and suggested the Indian flavors that he is known for, and also nothing too heavy or oily. The food was unbelievably refined, exotic and flavorful. All the courses beautifully presented, original and tantalizingly delicious. With each new offering my husband and I remarked "this one is my favorite so far." With all the little amuse bouches and pre and post dessert extras, we polished off 13 courses of the most perfect food we have ever tasted. Service was thoughtful and unobtrusive, not flashy at all. This meal was the absolute highlight of our 6 day San Francisco vacation, thank you!"

  • "The indian-infused farm to table feel, makes this restaurant a great change of place. And the execution of most of the dishes is very very good. The service was attentive, the ambiance very good and the food was delicious. This is a very solid restaurant that deserves it's star and could plausibly make a bid for 2."

  • "One of the best meals we have had since eating at South Lodge in the UK. The flavors are subtle yet they fill your mouth with delight. My favorite was the Spice Pot. Original and tasty with a mixture of textures. Service impeccable. Decor a bit old fashion but do not let it deter you. A must in San Francisco!"

  • "We were in town for a conference and the restaurant was within walking distance. The waitress and sommelier were very attentive. I loved my appetizer with the quinoa and dry ice vapors. How cool! We had a lovely pinot grigio and ordered a case of it."

  • "Everything here is wonderful and the dinner is one of the best places for a special occasion"
    Dined on 6/11/2013
  • "The place feels a bit formal, and it's quiet. So it feels like a place for older people, or a couple that don't want to talk to each other. The food presentation was nice, food taste good. If you're really hungry, your probably should ordre an appetizer. Portions size is on the lighter side."
    Dined on 4/25/2014
  • "A new chef with a different slant on the food since I was last there. He is doing a great job. A prix fixe based menu that has different numbers of courses available with and without wine pairing. The food had some unusual items but the ones I tried were great. A solid 5 star place. Service was both friendly and highly professional. None of that "Hi, I'm Bert and I will be serving you tonight"."
