Diner Reviews
  • "Decided to go here on a whim and were so glad we did. Excellent service. Our waitress recommended a few items and all were fabulous! Try the calamari, you'll be glad you did."

  • "Staff very nice and friendly. Great GF menu. Can bring own GF pasta they will make you any pasta dish on menu!Very considerate. Prices a bit high for grabbing dinner out, would consider for special occasion. Mussels were sparse, many shells empty making meal more sparse. Salad was supposed to have candied nuts but they were missing. And way too much garlic in sauce! Huge chunks which we had to pick out (not easy in mussels. guess it was good they were big pieces) but missed a few and bit into! Yuk! New waiter was very kind. We didn't complain because he already seemed a little nervous and we had to make a flight so no time to fix. Hope this was isolated because great space. Love the brick and stone walls and cozy atmosphere."

  • "My wife and I recently had dinner at Campania. It was our first visit, and we were very impressed. The menu was creative, and the dishes were prepared so as to fulfill the the promise of the written description. My wife had Ahi tuna; I had baked sole. The accompanying vegetables were excellent, but the bed of mashed potatoes was somewhat bland. We were especially impressed with the wine suggested by the staff (not our server, but someone up the chain). Our server was herself was enthusiastic and appropriately attentive. She knew to get help with the wine list. We ate inside, but the outside porch seemed pleasant."

  • "The setting is casual and comfortable. I think anyone would feel at home in shorts or dressed up. The food was very good and tasty...and had some vegetarian options that worked well for my date.:) I had the Chicken Marsala since I was trying to keep the carbs down... my date had a vegetarian Eggplant dish...both very tasty!:) I collect wine so often bring wine in to restaurants. The corkage fee was very reasonable and will be one of the reasons I come back.. not to mention the best bread I have had in a very long time (so much for the carbs...:)) with a very tasty oil and balsamic dip. Everyone was inviting and courteous... and with the quality and costs a very enjoyable evening. I will be back! Kudos!!:)"

  • "My husband & I have eaten @ Campania Cafe twice in the last month for our birthdays & thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Both times we enjoyed different meals & cocktails. Very delicious!! Both times we sat in the wine bar (my preference) & both times our waiter(s) were very sweet but immediately informed us it was only their third day working there. Both seemed to try hard but neither were knowledgeable about simple questions we asked. We plan to return w/ family in the near future and will try the actual dining area next time. The amount & quality of food served was delicious! Could be our "new" dining place."

  • "This was our first visit to Campania Cafe. The food and service was great! We opted to eat outside. They had a gentleman playing guitar and singing which added to the ambience. We were celebrating our anniversary and really enjoyed our visit. Would recommend and plan on going back."

  • "Awesome lasagna, but the arancini was tasteless, except for the wonderful marinara. Service was spotty, although it appeared that several tables were seated at the same time. Water glasses were not refilled until dessert ,and a request for more bread after the appetizer went unheeded. Entrees were ample and the server was very polite and accommodating, but due to a neighboring college's recent graduation, the restaurant was likely noisier and busier than normal. "

  • "Food is always good-small dining room and single row tables on front deck with Music on the week-ends. Food is consistent-which is always not the case in area restaurants. We have enjoyed dinner here many times and we keep going back as time allows. Staff is friendly and helpful, which makes for a nice dining experience!"

  • "We were a big group with a disabled guest, and Campania was very accommodating. Everyone loved their food, and the service was very attentive. We are not often in Davidson but Campania will be on our short list for dining when we are!"

  • "Not the best Italian I have had but I would certainly go back.. My husband has the sole and I had chicken parmigiana. Restaurant Is in a great spot with outdoor dining option. Service was slow and two out of four of us had problems with out order that were quickly resolved. Good upscale casual night out."

  • "......that such a quaint restaurant, with great food, has such poor management. It was so loud that it was more like a sports bar, than an Italian restaurant. This was not my first time at this restaurant, but it's probably my last."

  • "I had really been looking forward to a certain dish that I had at a previous dinner. Unfortunately the menu had changed. I had the pork chops & they were delicious. My date enjoyed his meal as well. Our appetizers & drinks were yummy. The pineapple martini was tasty. Our waitress did not check on us much. We needed drink refills so she probably missed out on at least 2 additional mixed drink orders. Our table was in a horrible spot. it was right in the middle of the main dining room & we both were bumped all night long by people coming & going. It was kind of loud."

  • "My husband and I went on a Saturday night. I was not impressed. They sat the two of us in the middle of a room filled with large groups. It was so loud we couldn't even hear each other. The table was placed in the front of the emergency stairway. Our waiter was not available most of the time and they seemed very short staffed."

  • "From the goat cheese and nut salad to the Prince Edward Island Mussels, every dish was well-prepared and tasty. The rigatoni Bolognese had a nice flavor and wasn't too heavy at all - even though it has a splash of cream sauce. Diners enjoy their meals in a dimly lit space, and it's cozy but not too noisy. Partake in an after-dinner drink or an Italian dessert."

  • "If you are looking for authentic Italian food in North Mecklenburg, this is the place. It is in a small, non-descript, brick building on Main Street in Davidson, but what's inside is a real gem. Once inside, there is a small bar area with a couple high top tables. You are escorted back into the trattoria where you will be served some of the best Italian food I have ever had. From the bread and salad to the entrée, everything is excellent. I only counted 19 tables in the trattoria and they got pretty busy, even on a very rainy Thursday evening, so I would recommend getting a reservation on weekends."

  • "Great food, good prices. Italian food done right can be hard to find in the South, but Campania Cafe gets it right. Love all of the pasta dishes! The restaurant ambiance is very nice, quiet & romantic -- a great place to go for dinner with a friend, partner, or another couple, but the might not be the best for a large, or lively, group."

  • "The food was really good; prices were extremely high for the entrees, $17 for a chicken entree than another $7 for a small Cesar salad.. I do not see the value."

  • "If you want a really special Italian treat, go to Campania Café. I had the eggplant parmesan and my wife had orrechetci brocciletti and both were outstanding. Their red sauce (those from NJ will recognize as "gravy") is thick, rich and delicious. The real treat for us was the soup. The pasta fagioli. Sensational. I guess the other real treat is the bread. It is manna from heaven. The owners truly care about their patrons and do everything they can to give us the best dining experience possible. Our waitress, Jasmine, was also terrific. Campania Café is our #1 favorite restaurant. There is no #2."

  • "Appetizer was bland. Lobster Bisque was awful, we sent it back. Main course was not good either. We won't return to this restaurant . Service was good. Atmosphere was not what we expected, nothing like the photos on their website."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner. The food, the service and the restaurant atmosphere were all great. What was not were the other patrons. It's a quaint, cozy place. Certainly not a jackets required atmosphere but sweatpants, sweatshirts and the final straw was the woman in gym shorts and sun visor. Have some class people! Eat at the pizza place if you are going to dress that way!"

  • "The food is very good. Portions tend to be small for the amount of money. Even their pasta dishes are small. The take out dish we ordered was bigger than the dishes we ordered at the table."

  • "Nice atmosphere. The food has always been very good and the service has always been excellent. Would definately recommend to a friend or family member."

  • "Arriving on time for our reservations, we were immediately taken to our table. Rachel, rour server, was friendly and knowledgeable. We shared the lobster bisque, very tasty. Or ebbed were wonderful. The only downside was the tremendously large portions. Each entree could feed two or three hungry adults. Dessert was perfect and the coffee was flavorful. We loved the old stone and brick building and it's understated decor. A perfect evening!"

  • "The caprese starter was the best I have ever had; loved the addition of the eggplant to the dish. The Involtini Di Melanzane was amazing. The eggplant was perfectly cooked and not heavy on the ricotta filling."

  • "The reservation system was excellent, including a reminder. We were seated very quickly. The service was first rate. The food selections were a bit heavy on fish selections but, on the whole, a good range of possibilities. The appetizers were delicious, particularly the caprese. The spinach salad was just what we wanted. The chicken marsala was good with a nice complement of either pasta and/or beans. The beans were a bit undercooked but still delicious. The shared dessert (and the opportunity to share dishes generally) made for a good experience. Nice selection of Italian wines. On the whole a good experience."

  • "I ordered chicken Marsala and for $16 I received what looked like chicken scraps that were very rubbery. Worst diner I have had in a long time"

  • "Love this restaurant, we've been going for years, and are always thrilled with the food- every time! Our service was mediocre- the waitress was flighty and seemed to rush by us several times, when we were obviously trying to get her attention, but other than that, it was awesome! The owner is amazing, and always willing to make you feel comfortable, and she makes a special effort to come by and say hello!"
