  • "This place is awesome, classy atmosphere, food with an extra bit of care. The desserts even had chocolate camels on them. Very affordable and if I lived closer it would be very hard not to go several times a week. Excellent job on all the things that make this special. Also, great collection of gift and gourmet items."

  • "Camp Verde General Store and Restaurant is worth the trip from San Antonio. Enjoy your drive through the Hill County and save your appetite. The sandwiches are a meal and Donna' Meatloaf is a feast. If you are looking for a very unique setting that is relaxed yet elegant, I highly recommend Camp Verde to anyone."

  • "We have eaten here several times and have always gotten good food, salads are great. Service is always good, sometimes there is a short wait time but it is worth it. They have special favors of ice cream, I have had samples they were very good also. There is a store there where you can look around at a variety of things, it's really neat and clean."

  • "This place is beautiful! The menu is rather small, and nothing fancy. Kinda wish the menu selection was as extraordinary as the surroundings. And I really wish they were open for dinner! We went for a late Sunday lunch. Glad we had reservations. They went to great lengths to sound condition the room, so while it is very open, with lots of windows and concrete floors, you could still hear your dining partner without having to yell. The waitstaff seemed mature, experienced, and friendly. Since they aren't open at night, It would be a fabulous place for a wedding reception or private party. Don't know if they do that."

  • "In the Texas Hill Country there are lots of places to eat that are quaint or unique. However most of them rely on the food suppliers with their prepackaged portioned food to hold down prices and expedite service, That is truly not the case at Camp Verde. When I ordered a salad before my lunch the server told me is was a large salad and she could make me a side salad for half the menu price. It was perfect. The must have a true school trained chef because attention to detail is amazing, The sandwich breads a either homemade or made by a local bakery. The sandwiches did not look like the portion controlled presentation elsewhere. WeI had an excellent BLT and Chicken Salad. Great homemade potato chips."

  • "We have taken our guests here for years. We love the food and the reasonable prices. Everyone in the store is so gracious. Too bad we had such an inattentive waiter. We will return and always look forward to the visit."

  • "A favorite lunch spot - it's a drive but able to stop at the Ranch Store in Babdera to get bird food, great cards at Ace so factor in the great lunch, well worth the effort. I took a friend this last trip who hat the pork chop and said it was perfectly cooked, the vegetables still crunchy and the mashed potatoes were delicious. I always get the Chef Salad though the hamburger is what I want. It looks to die for. Never fails."

  • "Beautiful location, great food, and huge gift shop. The Arthur sandwich is my favorite, but everyone raved about theirs, as well. Love the extra touches, such as the olive skewered on top of the sandwich, the deli style kosher pickles and homemade potato chips; the chocolate covered strawberries with the gelato--almost too pretty to eat! Always a treat! Worth the drive!!! "

We, the part of six, was seated immediately by the window as requested. The food server was cordial and very attentive, esp.to Grandma. The food was delectable and the price very reasonable, not to mention the generous portions.Walking the manicured grounds was enjoyable. We took photos that will remind us of a blessed Mother's Day. Camp Verde is a delightful Hill Country destination."

  • "The trip to Camp Verde is a beautiful 'road less traveled' to a destination for the the locals as well as those visiting the Texas Hill Country for the first time. Friendly ambiance, good food with a gourmet spin, and a store for shopping for truly lovely unique gifts and special Texas items--everything you look for to share time with friends or with out of town guests. Camp Verde is always on my list of places to go and experience the best of Hill Country Texas. "

  • "we went as an excuse for an outing. definitely worth the trip. great scenery and fun general store. Even better if the store had gourmet chocolate, but the desserts at the restaurant were more than adequate to satisfy our sweet tooth."

  • "The menu is interesting and makes you want to come back and try something else. Also, they have installed acoustic panels that help with the noise a lot. If I were running the show, however, I would put a few more in there. It is not the quietest restaurant you will ever patronize."

  • "We had been told about Camp Verde by a friend, who highly recommended it. We drove over from San Antonio not really knowing what to expect. Even my husband was very pleasantly surprised. The drive over was scenic, the buildings are lovely, the general store was fun and full of interesting items. We had made a reservation at the restaurant, so we got in right away. The food was great (although the portions were so large even my husband couldn't finish his meal.. I will certainly make plans to bring others out in the future."

  • "We spent the day driving from New Braunfels down all the back roads in search of wild flowers and scenic things. We did drive across the street to the entrance of the original Camp Verde. Our only regret was not having enough history to review. It would have been so nice to see old pictures and read the history of the area. I brought 2 grandchildren who went especially to learn something new and perhaps know more about the camel project and the past history of the site itself. They we're very disappointed and I have to admit that I too. I was under the impression that perhaps we'd have a nice history lesson to cherish. So much more could be added to make Camp Verde unique. What is available is very nice."
