  • Can't beat the Hill Country immersion!

The primary draw with this restaurant is the setting--the hill country creek-side location with the historical "gimmick" of the camels and the architectural appeal of the stone buildings and the new dining area tastefully decorated. The food was a little better than average and the service, on a Sunday after church, was a bit slow. The gift shop is delightful and makes the outing more than just a lunch date. Thought it was curious that most of the staff I observed were women who appeared to be over 50, not good or bad, just curious.

Our group of 6 women enjoyed a delightful lunch at Camp Verde last week. Everyone said it was a place we where we would want to come back. Our food was delicious with ample servings -- we took "to-go" boxes with us! We were seated at a round corner table which was perfect and the shopping was fun too! Great place for having a birthday celebration for 2 friends!

This is one of the nicest and most friendly places to eat in the Hill Country. Every time we have lunch here it is wonderful. The food is very good and is presented in a pleasing manner. The wait staff is always friendly and courtous. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. It is one you should experience for yourself.

The Camp Verde Store has been around for years. A few years ago, they upgraded their lunch room. Now it is really outstanding. The menu is suculent. I can recommend anything on the menu as I have tried almost all o them. My favorite is the pastrami Ruben. Prices are very reasonable to, so don't be afraid to try them out.

Camp Verde Restaurant is where we take our out of town friends and family, and it never disappoints! The food and service is always great, at a great price. We've tried most items on the menu, and everything is delicious! It's a gem, tucked away in a beautiful place, and always a pleasure to visit. We always go away happy, looking forward to our next visit.

I made a reservation two weeks before to celebrate an Anniversary. Their special effort was seating us at a two topper in the middle of the waitress traffic pattern. I was happy for the couple seated before us who requested nothing and was seated at a four topper in front of the window. The food was less than average because who makes mashed new potatoes unrecognizeable with garlic and black pepper? On a good note the table side hat stand was impressive.

This was our first time going and we went based on the recommendation by our great friends. Stopped in on a Sunday morning around 11:30 during a Hill Country Harley ride and we were treated to a nice lunch and wonderful hospitality. We chose to have our lunch out by the waterfall since it was such a gorgeous day and enjoyed the whole patio to ourselves. We had the chicken & tuna salads (since we were on a cleanse) along with their chips and salsa. Great stuff & quick service! A definite "MUST go back" kinda place! Be sure to take a walk around the beautiful well manicured grounds.

When we arrived for our reservation, the hostess told us that the grill was broken and that we could only order cold sandwiches. We almost left, but decided to stay because I wanted gelato. Then the waitress explained that yes, the grill was not functioning, but that most of the menu items were still available, not just the cold sandwiches. Either the host/hostesses should have been given better information, or they should have explained it to the guests a little better. I'm glad we didn't walk out because of the mis-information. The food was delicious as usual and I love their choices of fresh gelato and desserts.

Perfect for out of town guests to experience the Texas chic ambience of the Hill Country and delicious food. Both men and women love it. Plus, there is very upscale shopping on-site. Camp Verde is situated in the midst of green, green parkland. The facilities are absolutely first class....from the vintage atmosphere of the Olde Store & Post Office to the always interesting temptations of the new extension of the gift store. But to the business of eating.....the Dining Hall is spacious & airy - the waitresses most pleasant & obliging. The food......heavenly! Good choices - wonderful desserts and the prices in the overall situation remarkable...

We reserved a table before coming on Sunday and it was all waiting for us. We had the chopped steak dinner and the pork chop dinner and both were delicious and SO reasonably priced. We took a slice of the homemade coconut pie home with us and it was simply divine. There is no service for the outside tables, but you can have your food to go and eat outdoors there which is nice. We ate indoors and it was busy, but service was good. This is a great place to take visitors to also with it's history, great food and fun gift shop. I am taking a friend there for a birthday lunch next week.

Camp Verde General Store and Restaurant is a great place to spend a few hours, lunching and shopping. The pecan cobbler is my new favorite dessert. I was also impressed by the chef's willingness to customize my order: I usually have a grilled chicken breast on top of a salad. This is not on the menu, but they have no problem in putting this together for me. The General Store offers a lovely variety of treasures. I especially like the Thymes brand of fragrances, with the Jade Matcha being my favorite. Lightly scented, and, the bar soap is awesome. A bar lasts over 2 months! I lovelovelove Camp Verde!!!

This was my first visit, but won't be my last! It is so beautiful inside and out. Ate inside because it was very hot day, but outside would be nice in cooler weather. Service was excellent and the food was amazing! I had the Hotsy Totsy sandwich with sweet potato tots...wonderful and enough for two people. Not only do I plan to come back, but I will surely recommend this place to others. Two of our guests were from California, and they were very impressed. Thank you...don't change a thing.

Was disappointed with the chicken salad sandwich--really wanted a half sandwich but was told by the waitress that you no longer serve halves--the chicken salad was really failing in taste--I can make GOOD chicken salad--this was not. I was asked by the waitress if I needed a take home box for the remaining half of my sandwich and I said"NO". Service was extremely slow--maybe, the kitchen was overwhelmed by our party of 5.

Our party of four thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Camp Verde restaurant for lunch. Between us, we sampled the Jolly Reuben and Pulled Pork sandwiches and the chicken strips. The Pulled Pork sandwich was piled high with tender pulled pork--so much that at least half of it had to be eaten with a fork from the open bun before the top of the bun could be replaced so that it could be eaten like a sandwich. The Jolly Reuben was good, but we wouldn't rate it as one of the menu stars. It was a little dry, and probably sat cooling for a few minutes while the chicken strips were cooking. The latter received raves, because their breading was crunchy and they were served piping hot. The onion rings also were outstanding. We'll be back again & again

The food was wonderful; the prices very reasonable; our waitress was very friendly and got our orders perfect; the view from our table breathtaking; the acoustics great - we barely heard any of the other diners.
