Caminoamazing. love the hearthmy 4th time here. never a dull moment. great chef, hostess, and staff. I go here every time I'm in SF from LA5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely place for delicious foodWe really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food at Camino. The woodfired oven is a treat and the food is inventive and scrumptious. We started with the calamari app - yum! Highly recommend. Then I had a mushroom main course and my husband had sardines. Both were deilghtful and well executed. Drinks were great and so was dessert and the atmosphere was relaxed and airy. I will definitely be coming back.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMBetter and BetterCamino just celebrated its 5th birthday and the owners should definitely celebrate the success that hard work and attention to detail has brought them. We have been dining there since the beginning and it has been consistently very good, but as of late Camino has reached a new plateau of excellence. The special cocktails are superb and now arrive without delay. And, while the menu is not lengthy, it is possible to construct a satisfying meal many different ways, especially with cheerful assistance from the waitstaff. Still somewhat of a "hidden gem" after 5 years, we feel happily rewarded each time we dine at Camino.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyable brunch spotWhen we arrived, we were concerned that the dining area may be too loud. However, we were seated at a separate table and had no trouble hearing each other. The hostess and server were friendly, efficient and helpful. The gin fizzes were wonderful. The portions were a perfect size for us--not too large. Everybody at our table enjoyed their meals: lamb and lentils; a vegetarian pea dish; and french toast with creme fraiche and prunes. Nothing was unusually notable, but everything, including side dishes of bread and salad, was of a good quality, and we would recommend this restaurant to others.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is outstanding. TheThe food is outstanding. The wood fire cooking adds a distinctive flavor that can't be matched.most dishes are not matched at any other restaurant.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMLove OaklandAlthough we're in the City this place is well worth the trek. You just have no idea what you're missing if you don't go to Camino. Although the menu is not huge our party of four tried just about everything. The ingredients were so fresh and flavorful even the peas are shucked and cooked flawlessly. And the squid!! I've never tasted it cooked like that. That open grill is used to perfection. I would guess that the chefs have been schooled in the Chez Pannise/French Laundry school of scrumptiousness. Plenty of street parking, the prices are very reasonable for what you get, the service was on point and the noise level let us actually have a conversation without shouting. Go!!!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed their fresh peasWe enjoyed their fresh peas dish and salads as well as their rockfish entree. Their entree chicken was moist and tasty, and their entree mixed mushroom was scrumptious! We topped it all off with a very nice orange cake and fig ice cream. A very enjoyable meal.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMService was excellent. AmbianceService was excellent. Ambiance was lovely. I will go back again for the duck breast salad - it was a grand slam!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious FoodThe setting...take yourself to the dining hall of Hampton Court, long communal dining tables, huge chandeliers befitting a dining hall, and flanked in the back end the fire pits! The notable exceptions King Henry VIII's soldiers never ate so delicious. With the selection varying daily, it's tough making reservations in advance. Either you book your reservation last minute based on your viewing of the menu on the Internet (day of), or you foreworn your guest that you have no idea what's for dinner. All you know is that your palate will thank you for the absolutely delicious food; prepared with the freshest ingredients and seasoned/cooked for the gods. We Shall Return! Pricing is only slightly higher than your average Friday night date.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat food! Excellent dininggreat food! Excellent dining in a very relaxed environment4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing. Minimal menu, butAmazing. Minimal menu, but every item is a winner. Friendly for families early in the evening and brunch.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMCamino is the best of theCamino is the best of the best. Pristine food prepared perfectly with novel spicing.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAt 11:00 on a Saturday, CaminoAt 11:00 on a Saturday, Camino wasn't crowded, so the noise level was friendly. It's one of my favorite weekend spots to meet friends and catch up, so I especially appreciated that we had very few people sitting next to us or across from us. We spent more than 1-1/2 hours catching up and discovering new connections. The home-made donuts and lattes were a good start, followed by eggs with farro and wild mushrooms.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMmany starsCamino has greatness! artisan cocktails fresh herbs and syrups and such inventive potions! The food is so fresh and beautifully prepared ..THis restaurant takes great loving care in all that they do... The only hindrance is there is no bar seating just a stand up bar ~ sad for one of the great bars in the bay area and its uncomfortable waiting for ones table. But once seated this is an amazing experience. THe service, the food ,the drinks and the lighting is exquisite. Camino has many stars4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMKnowledgeable waitstaff, interestinKnowledgeable waitstaff, interesting offerings, lovingly prepared and presented. We chose to share four appetizers (because they all looked so good, we didn't want to pass any of them up) and then split an entree, followed by two desserts. We were brought the appropriate dinnerware so we could do this easily, without needing to ask. When we weren't sure about wine choices, our server graciously brought us tastes. As all seven of our dishes were ones we would gladly return for, your experience should be wonderful, too. My only caveat is that as the evening progressed and the restaurant filled, it became more noisy, as there is no softscape to deaden noise. If you dine with anyone who has trouble hearing, dine early.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingMy parents were visiting for the weekend, so we were excited to take them to Camino, which has quickly become our favorite restaurant. To say our experience was incredible is an understatement. We structured our dinner as a five course meal, complete with a cheese course after entrees. We shared a bottle of cellar temperature small-batch white wine, that I feel we were lucky to have. The cocktails were wonderful and the service was helpful and friendly. Camino provides an accessible fine-dining experience that allows one to enjoy the artistry of their food without the stuffed-shirt pretense that can sometimes accompany a meal as high-quality as Camino. My parents were truely treated to a dining experience like no other.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMVery passionate servers whoVery passionate servers who describe the menu thoroughly. all selections had great flavor and presentation.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMCamino is always an excitingCamino is always an exciting event. The open kitchen and grill with artichoke and leek decorating the counter are hints of the freshness and creativity in the kitchen. The food lives up to the hopes. Farro grains with a perfectly poached egg, (not an easy feat), garnished with perky pesto. Fresh grilled artisanal breads with fresh butter and large, coarse salt are the details that matter. I also love the house sparkling water and fresh bar drinks.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb food (and I'm a foodie).Superb food (and I'm a foodie). Very gracious and knowledgeable service. Some of the menu items didn't appeal to me, but everything the four of us ordered was cooked perfectly and the "didn't appeal" was based, mostly, on my ignorance of certain ingredients. So, be risky in ordering; you won't regret it. Everyone (servers, chef, hostess) were extremely accommodating about my need to avoid too much salt.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMDespite the small salads andDespite the small salads and cocktails in tiny cups I return to Camino again and again. Their food is delicious and unusual yet restrained and refined. Don't forget to order some of their bar snacks; always yummy and a good value.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe very much enjoyed our recentWe very much enjoyed our recent meal at Camino. The one weak spot was the wines by the glass list. The choices were relatively few, and the several wines we tried, including an Oregon pinot noir, a Dolcetto, and a Grenache, were simply not very good.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMYou can't miss with this one!As always our dinner was outstanding. Limited menu but selections are always super. We'll be back again. Our friend also enjoyed her meal and is ready to go back. You can't miss with this one4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMI always feel great afterI always feel great after eating their food. Perfectly satisfied!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently DeliciousWe took some family to the Easter Dinner, and we were all very impressed. Three of us had the fixed menu featuring a moist and flavorful quail cooked in the fireplace, while the vegetarian in the group ordered from the regular menu. This gave us opportunity to try a variety of items, all of which were incredible. Some especially memorable items besides the aforementioned quail were thick cut grits with an egg cooked in the fireplace, and bayleaf icecream. We had a wonderful bottle of wine and inventive cocktails that have proven to be consistently delicious. The staff was friendly as always and the service was excellent.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMBest East Bay BrunchI love the brunch at Camino. From the blood orange mimosa to the amazingly fresh eggs (either oven baked in cream or poached), the potatoes in duck fat, the acme grilled toast (3 different breads), the decadent donuts and the Four Barrel coffee, it's a remarkable feast! Nothing in the East Bay compares. The long communal tables are perfect for large family gatherings. It's a gem. Highly recommended.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBring your own!Friendly staff, great service and excellent food. The drinks on the other hand, are served in extremely small glasses
and are pricey for what you receive. The wine I ordered was fantastic, but the poor
was barely half of the glass. Summary: food yummy, service with a smile, alcohol small quantity high price!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMYUM! YUM! YUM! Highly competentYUM! YUM! YUM! Highly competent and friendly staff, great bar with exceptional and unusual drinks. A limited menu which suited us just fine as each items was unique but gave a choice of meat, fish and vegetable entree. OUtrageous bread pudding. I love this place Serious about food and relaxed about everything else. Great atmosphere.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMStart with excellent foodStart with excellent food that tasted great & was prepared in-sight of the dining room. Add servers were fun, engaging, & knowledgeable. Create a drink menu that's adventurous yet traditional. Put most of your diners together ala a British fryhouse so your diners converse with each other. All together, you get Camino. Well done.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFive and CountingOur fifth time at Camino, and somehow they are still able to surprise. Our food from appetizer to desert was masterful, and the cocktails were delicious. We had a nice bottle of Veltliner paired with the fish we ordered, and a great Scotch with desert. The service was attentive and friendly as always. We were so excited to come back, we made a reservation for their Easter Dinner that very night.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMCreative, delicious and beautifulCreative, delicious and beautiful food.Warm vibrant atmosphere with roasting and cooking in flaming ovens. Chef, cooks and servers all engaged with the delivery of a highly sophisticated yet uncomplicated experience.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMA great experience!Great food! Very friendly service as well.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMI came with my two GermanI came with my two German friends. The waiter was amazing, and tried to explain lardy cake to us... we ended up ordering it just to see what it was and it was DELICIOUS. flaky, not too sweet... and the brandy milk punch I had was incredible.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was prepared reallyThe food was prepared really well, the service was the best. Thanks for a great dinner!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOur experience here was notOur experience here was not as wonderful as brunch usually is, but it was still a great time. The vegetarian dish was SO delicious. There were way too many bones in the rockfish- but they comped BOTH of the plates of rockfish we ordered which was just over the top wonderful customer service. Desert was fabulous! :)3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent and Warm PlaceVery warm and friendly place. Nice homey concept of long shared tables and seating not intrusive. Excellent food and service.
