A word from Cameron's American Bistro
Celebrate the grand reopening of our new Cameron’s American Bistro. Twenty years after opening in 1993, we've revised, renovated and revisited our original restaurant with a whole new take on the American Bistro. You’ll find a new menu with familiar favorites, and some brand new one’s as well as a wine list expanded in both choice and geography. There’s also a fresh new look from the bar to the dining room to the exterior. We look forward to having you as our guest soon.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Always go to Cameron's for birthday dinners. Never have had a bad meal. Lamb was wonderful and red snapper was excellent. Will be back soon. Would never hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone. The staff are always friendly and service superb!"

  • "We enjoyed the food. Our waitress Rachel was very good. She kept track of us but didn't hover. We got a reservation very quickly thank you. Please ask the chef to change the menu now and then. I used to go to the bar on Thursdays quite often the menu doesn't seem a lot different."

  • "The pork chop and clams dish was delicious. Sunday was 1/2 off bottles of wine as well, which was a night little surprise."
    Dined on 8/17/2014
  • "Food was delicious, service exceptional. The only problem was the noise level. Restaurant was completely full, but extremely noisy."
    Dined on 8/16/2014
  • "The food was wonderful and the service made us feel special on our special day. It was a bit chilly in the bar area, though."

  • "It was good, but not terrific, wow factor. We prefer Cap City, Marcellas is EXCELLENT, and Martini's over this location. Server was excellent, very friendly, highly recommending items which was appreciated, and was celebrating our 37 anniversary. She provided a rose, a free desert, not expecting and was a nice, unexpected touch as we normally don't say we are celebrating anything. Selections, in our opinion was good, but limited if not wanting steaks, beef; seafood rather pricey. It was a good experience but prefer the menus at Cap City, Marcellas and Martinis overall."

  • "Excellent service and food. We had 3 in party and each had a different menu item and we could share reviews between each of us. Thanks"

  • "The recent remodeling has improved the atmosphere and flow of the restaurant. Some of the tables are too close together to make conversation private. The food is very good, but the menu is standard."
    Dined on 8/13/2014
  • "Only one complaint-the fabulous shrimp bisque is no longer a staple on the menu. That and the roasted garlic are the main attractions for me."
    Dined on 8/12/2014
  • "Love Cameron's. We had not been in awhile. Really loud in the dining area and we requested a booth and it was so tight our chests were in our food! We are not huge people either. There needs to be a comfortable space between table and diner!"
    Dined on 8/9/2014
  • "Even if it isn't the side that comes with your meal, ask for it on the side! My husband says it is as addictive as crack!!! The Walleye is always perfectly prepared and 2 of us had the Salmon special which was delicious paired with green beans and roasted potatoes"
    Dined on 8/1/2014
  • "The newly redone Cameron's is much more attractive than it was, and the booths are more comfortable! It's quieter than before, if last Friday was any indication. I had heard a new chef was doing the old entrees differently and not as well, but four of us had a very good meal that included the old favorite walleye, which my friend who ordered it said was delicious. The salmon special was truly scrumptious. The person who ordered scallops wasn't quite as happy with their flavor, but that was the only complaint. Cameron's is a standout among Columbus restaurants, and we all agreed we'll be back."

  • "Our first time back since the restaurant was remodeled; very fresh looking and comfortable. The food and service were outstanding!! We were celebrating my mother's birthday and they made her feel very special. We have always loved this restaurant; will be back again soon."

  • "I loved the food. Each entre had some interesting item that caught my interest and made the selection difficult. The staff was pleasant and service very good. The Bistro vegetable plate, and the Shrimp and Grits were the 2 dishes that my friend and I ordered. Andouille sausage mixed with the shrimp were a tasty combination. The sweet corn ravioli on the vegetable platter were exceptionally delicious. I will be returning to try some of the other entres."

  • "This is a gem of a restaurant. I have been here over many years and have never left disappointed or hungry. Wonderful deep menu that offers something for everyone. The chef also helped me on my last visit because of special diet needs."

  • "Wonderful food, and the carrot cake was ridiculously good!"

  • "The food was great, the service superb, but still noisy. The noise level is high but the food is worth it."

  • "AB is one of my wife's favorite dining places. (I was tempted to call it an "eatery" but it is more upscale than that, and deserves a classier name.) We choose to have our 37th wedding anniversary dinner there, and it was everything that we expected. The Teriyaki Salmon was excellent, although I thought the sauce a bit heavy for the fish. I never had oysters served as they were in the Oyster Bingo, and they were a treat. Our server was especially helpful and professional. He checked with us frequently and promptly, but not so much that he hovered over our conversation. We also appreciate that AB participants in the MidOhio Food Bank restaurant week. I would recommend AB for a romantic ambience with out-of-the-ordinary dining experience."

  • "We have been going to Cameron's for years and it seems to get better and better. Restaurant Week took us there and we will definately return."

  • "We've been here and at other Cameron's places. We enjoy it, but there's always a 'surprise.' Either it's very loud so you can't talk or overpriced sandwiches. At this visit the server recommended the 'house Cameron wine' so we each ended up getting a couple of glasses (two white, two red). When the bill came I was absoultely shocked that the wine was $19/glass - I feel the server had an obligation to inform us of that when we ordered. If that doesn't bother you, ignore this review - as the rest of the experience was fine. Not sure if we'll be back."

  • "We were greeted promptly by staff upon our arrival. The Cameron's Walleye was excellent and we also enjoyed the frutti di marre (served with homemade pasta). The creme brulee was fabulous. Definitely will return for special occasions."

  • "We were a group of 5 and enjoyed our meals very much. The new renovation is beautiful and has helped the noise level immensely. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. We will be back!"

  • "This was my second visit to Cameron's American Bistro. Both times the service was excellent and the food outstanding. I give it my highest recommendation."

  • "The food was amazingly delicious! One negative aspect was that there was no changing table to change my daughter's diaper."

  • "Have eaten here on several occasions and leave wanting to return again."

  • "The re-done decor at Cameron's original restaurant is awesome! Someone actually paid attention that it is a small space and that noise bounces off of flat walls - they did acoustic tile on many of the surfaces, so you don't have to shout at your friends and family across the table during your meal!!! Wonderful menu as one would expect from any of the CM restaurants, and the service we had from our lovely and attentive waitress was awesome! We took the kids with us and they had a ball and a great meal too."

  • "From the moment you walk in, you know you're going to have a pleasant dinner. Our waitress was respectful, friendly & knowledgeable. It's definitely a 'special occasion' restaurant. Everything is al la carte, but most fine dining restaurants are."
    Dined on 7/11/2014
  • "The wellspring of a cornucopia of excellence in a variety of styles, Cameron's is as good as ever it was. Enthusiastic service, nice room, very good drinks, nice and varied wine list. Terrific meat, perfectly prepared, and accompaniments. Meyer lemon gratin is a classy finish . . ."

  • "First time at this Cameron Mitchel restaurant was memorable. It was our 48th wedding anniversary and we will definitely go back sooner than our 49th."
    Dined on 7/10/2014
  • "We had a wonderful dining experience at Cameron's again. The flat bread was the best that we've had. We will come back just for that. We shared the chop chop salad and the walleye. They were both perfectly split and presented so well. We highly recommend Cameron's and confident that any guest would be pleased."

  • "Excellent experience! After telling our server about how much we like our cocktail, she had someone bring us the recipe and describe how it was made at our table! Above and beyond"

  • "We came for our 30th anniversary. Loved the fact that they gave my wife a red rose and gave us a free dessert. We came here 2 years ago for our anniversary and really enjoyed the filet mignon. Unfortunately, they had recently changed the menu. The filet was still excellent, but we preferred the sides they had before. Also, my wife remembered a different lemon dessert. All in all, it was nice, but the menu options were too frou frou for us; we prefer a simpler fare."

  • "In the past, I've coveted the Dixie Pan Fried Chicken ordered by others. It looked crackling crisp & a work of art as well. The filet with blue cheese was changed to one with olives (which I dislike) so I ordered the chicken. Maybe because it was Monday, possibly the usual chef was off, but when I ordered it, it looked nothing like what my friends had been served. It was not very crispy, was pounded flat, & inconsistently sweet. The mashed potatoes & coleslaw were unremarkable. We go to Cameron's for all special occasions because the food & service is always excellent, so it was our first disappointment. Service was fine but missed Rick. Let's face it. Cameron's on a bad night is better than any other restaurant on a good night."

  • "Food was pretty good. Salad was way overdressed. Service was lacking. Waiter wasn't very personable. Didn't provide much information. For the money...I probably wouldn't go back. Place was pretty noisy."

  • "Have loved Cameron's American Bistro since the first time we ate there for an anniversary. This is the "go-to" place for my husband and I. Excellent food, service and ambience. Great for taking family and friends, as well as business associates. Would not consider this place for small children, although very friendly service for them."

  • "This was the first time I visited. This without a doubt was the best food I have ever had. The braised short ribs melted in your mouth. The lemon "cookie" type desert was incredible."

  • "Consistent as always. Great food and great service. A Columbus favorite."

  • "You get good portions for your buck at this place. The bread pudding is to die for (I suggest that you get one and split it - it's huge)."

  • "Took my parents out for my mother's 75th birthday and decided to give Camerons American Bistro a try. I had walleye, which was fantastic, my partner had Dixie fried chicken, also terrific, and my father had catfish that was superb. However, my mother had the frutti del mare, which was just plain bad. The shrimp were slightly overcooked so a bit chewy, the sauce was the consistency of tomato paste and just about as dry. The menu described a much lighter dish with a marinara sauce. My mother would not let it be sent back, but it really should have been. Service was great, ambiance was great, will probably return but mabe not in a real hurry."
