Two of us had steak, one prime
ribs, which were very nice. However the squash was very undercooked and rather bitter, which was surprising since they say all the veg comes from their garden. It was very empty and gloomy. They did present us with a chocolate cake with a candle at the end of the meal, because we mentioned it we were celebrating my husband's birthday when we arrived. It was very kind and thoughtful of them."

Very good food but a very
inexperienced waiter. Brought wrong wine list and 15 min after ordering said they ran out of prime rib."

Love Cambia Pines Resort. Always
excellent customer service. The staff is professional and caring. Great hiking, lovely gardens, close to shopping. We always have a pleasant, rest full sleep at night and find plenty to do during the day"

We ordered two burgers for dinner
at Cambria Pines Lodge. They were gray, compacted, tasted reheated, and came with a ciabatta buns that fell apart while we ate them. The burger was served with a pale, flavorless tomato slice. My lemon drop cocktail did not taste a bit like lemon, although I could see bits of lemon in the drink. Server had too many tables to deal with and did not return to our table to ask if our meals were to our liking or whether we wanted another drink. Best parts of this meal: The pickles on the burger and the sweet potato fries. Would have complained about the meal but server was too busy to see us. The background music was too loud and we could not talk to one another over it."

Unfamiliar with the area and
needing a place for dinner, we found this through OpenTable. Don't let the plastic tableclothes and old diner look deter you. The food was actually much better than we expected. We laughed heartily when we watched the young busboy walk carefully to deliver a water glass so full it was to the brim! He set it carefully down in front of me, I wasn't sure how I was going to pick it up without spilling it myself! Overall, the wine was good, the wait staff were super friendly and the food was pretty good."

The lodge has a very romantic,
outdoorsy feeling. The dining rooms are very romantic. The food was terrific and they will accommodate your special requests on any dish. Food was prepared exceptionally well, came out hot and cooked to perfection. Didn't realize they had a vibrant bar scene with live music, nice touch to a great evening. Would recommend the Pines to everyone."

Been here many times. Love the
cute place, bar, food, gardens, reasonable prices. Our only problem this time was our server. He spoke quickly and mumbled, making it hard to understand him. He didn't know the menu - couldn't describe dishes or specials, made things up ( a sauce "kind of like Alfredo, sun dried tomato and our Scampi sauce". Huh?). Even after going to find out the varietals in a wine blend on the wine list after we asked, it was then described having the varietals "marsanne, roussanne, and rose". Again, huh? One dish, we were told, came with rice and mashed potatoes. It did not, of course, come with both. A comment was made to the host, and the server improved, but he has been there a while. Training? Or incompetent?"

My lunch was excellent and I
enjoyed the great service. I toured the garden and the nursery and enjoyed both. I cannot wait to visit Cambria Pines Lodge again. I also intend to make reservations to stay at the Lodge in the future."

A great find in Cambrian. Nice
setting, attentive service staff and a good menu make this a nice place for dinner. Broad selection of foods also!"
Dined on 5/1/2014
plastic table cloths.... our table
was ready upon arrival. Nothing was really good about our dinner... nothing was really bad. Everything was lacking in flavor. Service was fine. Not what we had expected from reading others' reviews."
Dined on 4/26/2014
Everything was very tasty and
fresh. I had a Caesar salad which was excellent. Also had a shrimp scampi appetizer that was tasty but it was drowning in butter- could use less better and still have a great taste."

Loved the area...what a nice
quiet get away to the mountains. I loved our room and all the servers that were in the restaurants. Loved walking the grounds. This was a perfect spot to get a way from the hustle bustle of our weekly work week."

The food was very good...really
enjoyed our 26th wedding anniversary..."

The restaurant is part of the
Cambria Pines Lodge. This is an old, (1927), rustic resort in the hills of Cambria. The restaurant serves basic selections that are family oriented. The food is consistent, good choices and served by friendly staff. We have stayed at the Lodge several times and always dine at the restaurant at least one night."

When my hotel guy look aghast at
my saying I was eating there was I ignord thinking maybe he was cousins with thexmpetition. Well I should have listened. We had eaten lunch in Carmel.so that is a hard act to follow but it was unimpressive. Service was good but food not interesting. It qmwas the only place with Open Table but I should have used Yelp too and done better homework."

My Fiancé and I were blown away by
our entire stay at Cambria Pines Lodge! We found the deal through New Times newspaper for an overnight stay including a bottle of wine, 2 dinner entrees, and breakfast for 2. We were anticipating only being able to choose between a few food choices and have a bottle of a certain $2 brand of wine. We loved the house wine and were completely amazed that we could order any entree, including specials! The food was phenomenal and the setting absolutely beautiful. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. One night we ate in the restaurant and the next in the lounge, both great settings with awesome staff. Breakfast was wonderful as well; lots of variety of great food choices. Can't wait to go back!"

Went for my husband's birthday.
Started with before dinner drink in front of the big fireplace in the lounge. Excellent drinks, cozy atmosphere. Seated at a nice booth and had a stellar server. Friendly, knowledgeable, just enough attention. Food was great - one of us had prime rib, the other the swordfish. Both were very good, decent portions. We ordered a bottle of wine our server recommended, and we loved it. Would purchase it again. After dinner we wandered the gardens, and discovered that we could bring our dog next time and dine outside in the charming dining areas - heaters and fireplaces set the cozy mood. This place is a 40 minute drive from our home in Paso Robles, but well worth the drive for an unusual experience."

We are Cambria part-time residents
and visit Cambria Pines Lodge Restaurant almost every time we are here. We love the food and the specials they offer, including the special for locals that includes any two main courses and a bottle of house wine. The food was excellent as usual this time, but this was the first time we were seated in the room at the back of the restaurant with the fireplace. We did have to move because we were near the fireplace and it was too warm for us. Once we moved to a nearby table, we found the chairs less comfortable than the ones in the other rooms or outside in the private rooms. We would suggest that they get more comfortable seating in that back room and better cushions and heating for the outside seating."

Food was very good, the gorgonzola
butter on the filet is a great addtion. Not great ambiance, but I'd rather have good food"

I ordered the Top Sirloin medium
rare and it was perfectly cooked. Top stars!"

We generally LOVE CPL for dining
... this time our server was ... well ... how would you say ?? LACKING!! Lacking any sort of knowledge or understanding of the menu, didn't speak up - acted like it was his first hour on the job and had NO Training ... my husband would ask him a question and I had to answer because he would stand there dumbfounded ... but food was Ok ... I totally recommend getting a reservation for the outdoor dining which makes it a much more memorable experience. Love the location and other than our sad waiter ... all past experiences have been better ... their complimentary breakfast when you stay there is THE BOMB!!"

Loved it. Would do it again. Great
scenery, food, and service. Amazing!"
Dined on 2/8/2014
We ate here because we were
staying at the Lodge and two free dinners came with the package. We were happy to see there was two vegan friendly meals on the menu. That's usually hard to find at a restaurant like this. Both were excellent. However they were very over priced! But since it came with our hotel room it didn't bother us. We would have not have been happy if we had to actually pay for our meal. The service was just ok. I don't know if the waiter thought we were not going to leave him a good tip since we were getting the special or because we did not look like the typical diner since we are younger but we feel the service was lacking. No refills on water and just a rush everytime he was ar our table. We still left him a good tip!"

I have been to the Cambria Pines
Lodge several times in the past, but like a bad relationship I am breaking up. I will not return. Charred filiets (tried to cover up with fried onions) to be replaced by some sort of beef the size of a fifty cent piece with wrong sides no silverware and no waiter. I ate the vegetables my friend had soup (which we were not charged). The table next to us had some sort of problem also."
Dined on 1/6/2014
This was not only a great place to
eat, they still had their Christmas decorations up and the grounds were beautifully decorated. The overall ambiance is that of a cloistered private retreat center. Lots of great places to take pictures and it would be perfect for a destination wedding!"
Dined on 12/31/2013
Food was good and service, though
inexperienced was polite and friendl. There is one room with a fire place. This one's nice, the others are nothing to write home about. Priced on par with any decent steak/prime rib spot. The outdoor grounds were lovely and still decorated with holiday lights. Could be a romantic spot if there weren't so many kids around."
Dined on 12/28/2013
We've been to the Cambria Pines
Lodge other years -- also on Christmas Day. Last time there was not a buffet. I wasn't too impressed with the buffet at all. The food was OK, just OK. Other times, the food was excellent. Not so much for Christmas in 2013. That said, the lights around the grounds were terrific."
Dined on 12/25/2013
Made a excellent christmas buffet.
Carlos our server was great. Will return without question. Very large prawn cocktails with prime rib, ham ( my grand children loved the ham), and several sides. Very nice."
Dined on 12/25/2013
Made reservations for Christmas
Day. Found out when we showed up that it was buffet-style dining. I was shocked and very disappointed, but it was Christmas Day and didn't want to make a fuss. The salad and shrimp cocktail were fine, but things went downhill from there. There were a lot of servers, but maybe not enough for the crowd. We are vegetarian so our only main dish choice was salmon and it was very dry and tasteless. I guess I was just so unhappy that I didn't know it was going to be a buffet. I definitely should have been told. It was pretty disappointing."
Dined on 12/25/2013
Was recommended by several people
- it did not disappoint. While the clientele was on the older side, the food and ambiance was outstanding. The Christmas market was not open while we were there, but the patio was tastefully decorated and gave the place a little extra to look at, with its bare minimum decorative approach. The bread was delicious (and dangerous!) and the proportions were generous. The prime rib was fantastic and the New York was delicious as well. Will definitely stop by again next time we are in Cambria!"
Dined on 12/17/2013
Good basic menu, with something to
please everyone. Especially busy the night we went, and we were sitting next to a party table, so was a bit noisy. Food was delicious ."
Dined on 12/8/2013
When we heard the thanksgiving
meal would be "buffet" style- we were expecting cafeteria, rehydrated food that could be easily prepared for the masses. Wow! were we ever so surprised. The food was amazing- they prepared smaller platters at a time to ensure excellent quality. The vegetables were fresh from the restaurants garden and were crisp(prepared perfectly). All of the traditional Thanksgiving fare was provided with each dish tastier than the last. I would highly recommend this restaurant to my closest friends and family. We hope to return next year with a larger group."
Dined on 11/28/2013
I get it, feed the masses a buffet
for Thanksgiving, move more people, make more money. I reserved a table so that I could enjoy a quiet vegetarian meal and nice service. What I got was a Costco salad and dried meat. Actually, we stood up and left as soon as we realized what was being served."
Dined on 11/28/2013
My family and I have made
Thanksgiving at Cambria Pines Lodge our tradition going on our 3rd year. We love it. The scenic forest views, heated pool & jacuzzi, nature walks...and the food! The food was spectacular. We will definitely be back before next years Thanksgiving feast. Thank you, Cambria Pines Lodge for our families great memories!!"
Dined on 11/28/2013
Thanksgiving buffet was good,
service was adequate, great atmosphere. I ate Christmas dinner there and it was excellent. A great place to go on these holidays when most restaurants are closed. Scenic lights in the courtyard, and a very nice bar."
Dined on 11/28/2013
We were pleasantly surprised to
find restaurants on Open Table in Cambria. It is located off the 1 and can't be seen from the highway. We enjoyed our late lunch. We will stop in again. The location appeared very quiet and "woodsy" . The bar/lounge had football games on and we might have eaten in there had we seen it first. It was lively and inviting too."
Dined on 11/10/2013
The food was great, the décor was
awesome. I think this was one of he nicest places I have eaten. I loved the food. The service needs a little more attention. The first night the waiter was doing okay but didn't even bring water until our diner was half way done. The second night the waiter needed a lot of help. He didn't do a very good job making us feel welcome. He didn't tell us that we could take our wine with us as well. The whole experience makes it warmer when you feel welcome."
Dined on 10/15/2013
Surf and turf was edible. The
place was outdated and cheesy. Next time we will eat downtown in the west or east village."
Dined on 10/12/2013
Hotel is showing it's age but
still a wonderful place to explore with it's many spaces."
Dined on 10/11/2013
We had a good dinner in the
restaurant - service was good, attentive but not too much - food was good too. On another night we had appetizers and an amazing dessert in their bar - if you get a chance to try their puff pastry with ice cream and fudge sauce you definitely need to try it! Good wines by the glass, nice atmosphere, and an overall nice experience. We would definitely go there again when we're in the area."
