  • "I had never been to Cajun Queen and had been told for years I needed to. To begin, there is no parking but there is free valet. The busser was more cheerful and accommodating than the server who seemed to be in the weeds all night. We weren't given a beer or wine list and the rushed server rattled a couple off her head and we settled for the first one that sounded good. Then the food - BIG disappointment. HUGELY overpriced for what you get. I lived in NOLA and the food here is not anything close to NOLA food. I've had better cajun in my kitchen or down the way at Boudreaux's. Next, coffee and dessert...I had to request cream and sugar. The bread pudding: HUGE disappointment as it was overly compacted and tasted like a mix. Won't go back."

  • "We decided on Cajun Queen for our son's Birthday. We had 2 groupons so that helped too and CQ let us use both of them. We were upstairs this time and were a little concerned because we had heard that the band can get really loud but that was not the case. It was very enjoyable. First we started with the Fried Green Tomato appetizer-awesome, then 3 of our group got the Cajun Pasta Special, 1 Chicken Diane, 1 Creole with Crayfish. All were excellent. The latter 2 could have been a little hotter but we didn't want to wait, otherwise the food was excellent. Also, 3 got Ceasar salads-no complaints there. Too stuffed for the dessert. Service was good too. We really like this restaurant."

  • "Very generous servings. Shared crawfish tails for an appetizer. Ordered chicken Diane as an entree. Ended up taking 1/2 home. No way I could order dessert, though I really wanted to. Food was cooked well with just the right amount of spice heat. Nice to find authentic Cajun food here in Charlotte. Service was good, just enough attention without being annoying. We had an early seating (5:30) in the upstairs dining room so it wasn't crowded, but the tables are tight. It's not a place to have an intimate conversation. Musicians started about halfway into our meal but weren't as loud as I expected. Still, I can imagine the noise level increases as the evening goes on. Major points for the complimentary valet! Will definitely go back."

  • "My first experience at Cajun Queen was on my birthday and the ambiance was loud it was a small building and no parking lot. There is no waiting area downstairs in front for me and my kids to wait on the reservation. It was loud and tight space for seating hard to navigate due to tight areas. The servers were in a rush and all over the place like a zoo. I wanted to be seated near the Jazz and thought the Jazz music was for everyone in the entire restaurant. Not a kid friendly environment. I ordered the Diana which was rubbery, greasy and buttery. For the little bit if food given was overpriced. The meal itself I feel like I could of made at home. The bread was too hard. The bread pudding was tasteless and old"

  • "We go to Cajun Queen for the fried oysters appetizer and the great cajun foods. Always need a "to go" box for leftovers (get SO much food). We probably eat here at least once a month! Highly recommended. Wish they were open for lunch!"

  • "I really enjoy the food at the Cajun Queen. It may be a little tight in some places but the service is great. The desserts could be a little bigger ."

  • "We really appreciated the complementary valet parking -- parking in uptown can be difficult. Sarah, our server, was super attentive, as were the runners. And the food was delicious, too! My hubby had the ettouffee and I had the mahi with crawfish topping. Authentically New Orleans! The only downside was the noise level. Too many tables packed into the first floor also made it difficult when arriving to and leaving from the table, but we did have some nice conversations with our dining neighbors."

  • "We always enjoy it here. Tonight my husband tried the Cajun Pasta and now has a new favorite. We all tasted it and I will try it next time. They were very accommodating about adjusting the item for his diet preferences also."

  • "What I noticed most is how tender the chicken was. We ordered two different chicken dishes, and the chicken could be cut with a fork. So Yummy ! Also, we had 2 teenagers and 1 pre-teen with us, they enjoyed their dinner also. All three kids were first timers at the Cajun Queen. Everything was wonderful."

  • "This was our first visit to the Cajun Queen. Staff was great. Catered to our every need. The food was execellent. The filet was the best steak I have ever eaten. The fish was also awesome. The fried oyster appetizer was so good. I will be back to try the crawfish tails. We really enjoyed our meal."

  • "Terrible Brunch. Love this place for dinner but this was the worst brunch ever. Eggs Benedict came with hard boiled eggs instead of poached and then when we asked for poached eggs we were brought raw runny eggs. We were their first customer so being busy cannot even be an excuse for this restaurant as there was only one other table besides ours. I will never go for brunch again."

  • "Family celebration for my sons 32nd birthday. Twin sons who live 300 miles apart individually requested that we celebrate their birthday at Cajun Queen. it had been 7 or 8 years since they had been there and yet Saturday's dinner lived up to their memories. Thank you, Cajun Queen for the great food and excellent service."

  • "This is my second visit to your establishment. The first time was flawless, this time not as much. I really enjoyed my appetizers, but my main course was horrible!!!! I asked for my Sirloin to be well done and it wasn't. My broccoli was very bland and so was the Sirloin itself. My waiter was very unpleasant like he didn't want to be bothered, so I just sucked it up and didn't return my food. I didn't feel like the drama or feeling that I was bothering him! I never want him again as my waiter!!!!!!! Other than that I love Cajun Queen! :) The atmosphere is wonderful and the food is spectacular!!!! ( except for that Sirloin for $24!!! )"

  • "The atmosphere was amazing. Diverse group of people..really gives you the NewOrlesns vibe. I was disappointed in the food this time, however I'm willing to give them a second chance. My entire party was disappointed with the flavoring of the food. Staff was really friendly. I overheard the waiter saying that they've had the same chef since 1985. I thought that was pretty amazing."

  • "Wife and i just celebrated our 5yr anniversary and decided to go here for dinner. Our table was given away upstairs, but the mgr quickly resolved the issue and gave us 2 free drinks for the mix up. Great atmosphere and kind staff."

  • "I've eaten at Cajun Queen many times and never had a bad experience. Great food, great service and fun atmosphere. There is a nice dixieland combo on the second floor. If you want to hear the band, ask to sit upstairs (the bar is also on the second floor). If you want to visit but hear the band in the background, ask to sit on the main floor in the front of the building. If you don't want to hear the band, ask to sit on the sun porch."

  • "Good food, right-sized portions, and an attentive waiter who surprised us with an un-ordered dessert for our 45th anniversary celebration. We were there well before the crowd on a week nite, so we were able to have a quiet meal."

  • "Love cajun queen! Have never been disappointed with the food, service or ambiance. Outdoor, 2nd floor patio is great and there dessert and coffee options round off the experience wonderfully. And there fried pickles are the best around!"

  • "I was very disappointed with the quality of the food at Cajun Queen. The BBQ shrimp was terrible. The shrimp were tough, overdone and the sauce was just OK. The bread they gave us to dip with was stale. I also had the chicken with the Diane Sauce. They give you two HUGE pieces of chicken but very little rice. The rice was drowning in sauce. For the price, I do not recommend this place. BUT, the upstairs bar is nice for drinks and some live music. Maybe should keep this as an after-dinner place."

  • "Spent a delightful evening with special friends at The Cajun Queen. Excellent service and delicious food plus good company made for a memorable time. We chose different entrees and all were superb: steak, shrimp Scampi, and Mahi Mahi with crawfish topping. Spicy gumbo started the meal and we ended it with a luscious bourbon pecan pie and good, hot coffee. We dined leisurely and served with prompt attention but not rushed. Definitely will return !"

  • "Noise level: energetic is NOT good....in this case. Unfortunately there was a large table on the second floor which was obnoxiously loud - to the point of us not being able to communicate with each other nor the waiter. This disappointed our guests who were there for the first time. The food at this visit was ok, not a wow as it was on previous visits. The night experience was - a night out - not special."
