  • "My experience at Cajun Queen was one to remember...first of all, the bread that was brought to our table was as hard as a rock and tge gumbo I ordered was watered down. The drink I ordered was good, but the service was terrible our watress checked on us once and that was when she took our order. I do not plan on dining here again."

  • "The food was unbelievable good! Delish! We had a group of 8.... all were taken care of by an excellent waiter. No wait.... 5 star all the way. If you like "New Orleans" food... you will fall in love with this place!"

  • "This was one of our picks to try for Queens feast week. We were not disappointed. This is a must try. The food was wonderful and the staff was great. We can't wait to go back."

  • "There for restaurant week, had great food during a week that is usually not a great time - everyone enjoyed it!"

  • "This was a good choice for our Queen's Feast. The food is genuinely delicious. We want to go back and try some more of it, although I don't know how they can top the crawfish etouffee. Service was friendly and very relaxed. Really appreciate the valet parking in that part of town."

  • "We got the Queen's Feast (glass of wine, salad or soup, entree, and desert all for $30 during restaurant week) and it was AMAZING. Such a great deal for your money. I highly recommend the Cajun Pasta and the key lime pie. I can't describe how phenomenal it all was. Next time I will try the shrimp and grits. This place of course isn't a typical every day dinner, it's more of a special occasion ($$$) so think about it for your next birthday dinner or celebration dinner!"

  • "I have been going to the Cajun Queen for over 12 years! I live in SC however whenever ANY of my friends come to visit, one of the places we always go is to "The Queen". As a result, whenever they return they always clamor to go to "The Queen". I recently went with my SC neighbors during Queens Feast - Charlotte Restaurant Week. These neighbors either had never been or had eaten there years ago! Rave reviews were given by all. The food is excellent, the atmosphere fantastic and the addition of the jazz music makes this Elizabeth neighborhood restaurant a must go-to!"

  • "This was our first visit although we have lived in Charlotte 41 years. Recently we were with friends who talked about this restaurant and since we are leaving Charlotte soon, we decided to eat here before our move. We had a very nice meal and are so glad that we came."

  • "Went during restaurant week. The main dish was great for both my husband and myself. He had the Diane and he had the etouffee. Both dishes were very tasty. We did not care for the gumbo.... It seemed to be missing something... What I'm not sure. Also the bread pudding was great. And I'm not a bread pudding person, but it was good. My husband had the key lime pie that was very light and creamy. They ran out of the who cream which he thought it needed to combat the tartness of the pie. But overall we had a great experience. Food was good, service was good... We will go back again."

  • "I went with just me and my 1 yr old, very accommodating and understanding staff. Service was great and the food was awesome! Well, maybe not the gumbo but the special seafood topping over salmon and mash potatoes, yum yum. The best bread pudding ever tasted!"

  • "We were seated upstairs with the band. Food was great but the temperature upstairs was almost unbearable. So hot my girlfriend and i both were completely soaked when we left. Spoke with the folks sitting on either side and they were concerned about the hot temperature also. Thermostat on the wall was reading 86 degrees."

  • "Our waitress was not good. She rushed us and was very mechanical. Also, the live music was not very good and the only played for 20 minutes before they took a 30 min break. Strange."

  • "It's been several years since we visited the Cajun Queen. My wife and I were a bit disappointed this visit. Our reception/seating went very well -- the hostesses were more than accommodating and very friendly. Our meals were mediocre -- food was barely warm and my Creole had very little rice (I left hungry). My wife ordered cocktail sauce with her shrimp, but did not receive it with meal -- it arrived half way through meal. The service was also a bit disjointed -- our server seemed rushed/overwhelmed and the bus boys were in a hurry to remove plates (it was approaching closing time). The food tasted good enough, but it was hard to overcome the temperature problem and quantity issue. We will likely go back--maybe bad timing this trip."

  • "we live a few hours away, but if we're in charlotte at dinnertime this is a must! the service was excellent although a little slow to start, busy night though & i think they may have been understaffed. the food was excellent as usual - the fried green tomatoes were perfection! only thing less than pleasant this time was the table beside us - very loud and by no means excellent conversationalists. but leftovers the next day were equally divine! love, love, love the queen! best dinner spot in charlotte!"

  • "We go here at least twice each year. This was the first time we were...uncomfortable. We were seated right next to the hostess stand...and there were at least 5 hostesses standing there at any time. Although I sat right next to my husband, I could not hear him on account of the noise level. My husband asked for the oysters as an appetizer. The waiter told my husband that "that was a lot of food" and that he "should really just get the half order." We had finished our wine before dessert was served. The waiter asked if my husband wanted one more glass. He declined THREE times. The waiter would not take no for an answer and commented that "no one's going to know." When we received the bill the waiter charged us for the extra glass of wine!"

  • "We went on Friday 7/18, (my birthday) which was also the first night of restaurant week. Even though it was 6:30 pm...and was starting to get crowded, the service was great and it was really important to us because we had to get in and out to make it to a play that started at 8pm."

  • "We had dinner and cocktails upstairs and listened to the live jazz band. The band/food/drinks were all great, but the tables are really close together. It is more intimate downstairs, but then we would have missed the band. Definitely will return, I just know what to expect next time."

  • " Charlotte's #1 spot for Cajun Food ! Great ambiance. Quiet dining downstairs, live jazz bar and dining upstairs. Also outdoor rooftop dining patio with skyline views. Service is spot on, and food has never let me down. Three levels of cajun "spice" Diane, Creole, or Etouffee. I've had just about every dish. Blackened Steaks and Pork Tenderloins are my favorite. Don't forget to ask about the Daily Specials ! Wine list plentiful, and full bar. Next to uptown in historic Stanleyville. Free valet parking is a nice touch."

  • " My stop at The Cajun Queen was like a trip back to my childhood in NE Louisiana ,The food brought back all the good times of Cajun Country .The atmosphere takes you to the old homes of LA and the true Hospitality of the Cajun people ,reminds me of the homes that would open up in small towns for gumbo festivals .The people would welcome anyone with a bowl of gumbo and a good tale .You can't get any closer to Cajun people without being in Louisiana. The Staff goes above and beyond for the customer hats off to them all From the Hosting staff at the door to the Kitchen and Wait staff, Great job and excellent service ."

  • "My wife and I frequent this establishment because the staff is friendly, the food is great and the atmosphere is ever so changing. If you want a quite Sunday brunch - this is your place. If you desire a romantic evening - request a table away from the band/bar. If you want a vibrant, fun place to hang out and enjoy good music and food - sit upstairs where the band is playing on weekends. It's a wonderful place that we continue to come back to. Have fun!"

  • "Our dining experience was surprising much better that we anticipated! We arrived for Sunday brunch and was welcomed by a friendly host who seated us in the back patio room. It had great natural sunlight which created a lovely ambience. Our server was very friendly and helpful with our food selection. The eggs benedict and crab cakes were good! I am looking forward to our next visit soon!"

  • "We were with a group of 8 adults and we all enjoyed the food at the Cajun Queen- the specials were excellent! The service definitely could have been better. We went long periods of time without seeing our waiter. At the end of the evening we had to go looking for him as we hadn't seen him in 30 min or more! We will definitely go back though as the food was really great."

  • "Pork chops outstanding, shrimp & grits NOT eatable, steak great, shrimp scampi just ok, barbecue shrimp very good. Extremely crowded. Must use valet parking or walk there. So noisy, due to a party of about 16, our group of 5 could not have a conversation. For a special occasion I will stay UP-Town."
