Third time, all great. My third dinner and every meal was excellent. This time I tried the Shrimp Diane. Tons of smaller shrimp in this flavorful, delicious, spicy buttery shrimp broth which is accompanied with a heap of perfectly cooked rice. Excellent and that is an understatement. Every bite better than the last. My wife and daughter ordered, once again, the shrimp scampi and, to no surprise, enjoyed every bite. We started with the fried green tomatoes. Real good but next time we'll ask for the sauce on the side. They also start the table with some fresh, hot dinner rolls. Look for parking on the street because the lot is tough to find a spot and to drive around. Can't wait to go back. Very cozy restaurant and very attentive service.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was a great evening withIt was a great evening with friends and the food was awesome!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFun ExperienceThe atmosphere is what really makes this place incredible. A live jazz band upstairs playing happy upbeat tunes really keep the energy going all night. The food was ok, others will argue it is the best Cajun in Charlotte but I disagree. I order Shrimp Gumbo, the shrimp was rubbery and overall it lacked flavor. I also order Shrimp Creole, a Cajun standard, and was also slightly disappointed at the lack of flavor. My wife ordered Shrimp Scampi and raved about it. The server was really slow and didn't provide refills for our drinks but was very personable. All in all I would go back and give Cajun Queen another try. The food wasn't awful, I just wasn't blown away as I anticipated based on other reviews.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMothers Day CelebrationTook the family out to celebrate Mothers Day. WE all had a very enjoyable experience. The service was top notch, the ambiance was great and the food was the star of the day. There was six in our group and each entree ordered was cooked to perfection and a pallet pleaser. We will definitely be visiting again in the near future and definitely recommend it to individuals looking for great food with a cajun flare. A++++++5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFavorite Charlotte RestarauntCajun Queen is a must-visit for anyone who loves spicy, Cajun cooking. The food is always excellent, the service is wonderful, and despite the volume, it is a very romantic place to spend some time with that special someone. I would highly recommend this restaurant to any and everyone!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMTake your time and enjoy this mealDiners should really take the time to enjoy a meal here. The price of the entrees include a premium for the experience. The signature étouffée is not quite as hot as described but still delish. Get a bottle of wine...bar skills not worth it. Excellent service, ample parking, and a beautiful setting make this a memory-maker.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh and yummy! We tried all the classics on the menu and can't wait to go back and try everything else. The crawfish étouffée was amazing! Such a fun place. Enjoyed the live music.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the food! This restaurant has excellent food. The servings are more than adequate, the servers are friendly and the atmosphere is good. Live music is great and the atmosphere is vibrant. Parking is limited so be prepared to find a spot on the street. Prices are very reasonable and the deserts are great. We will definately return. Cajun is good!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMChicken Diane to die for!Loved my dining experience with the Cajun Queen. The Chicken Diane was awesome! Friendly staff, high energy, loved the live jazz music.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFANTASTIC SURPRISETHIS RESTAURANT WAS A WONDERFUL FIND. THE GUMBO AND FRIED OYSTERS WERE THE BEST WE'VE EVER HAD. THE ETOUFFEE WAS OUTSTANDING. CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK AGAIN.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great time. VeryWe had a great time. Very accommodating. Our server was fantastic!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMLove it!!!!I go here so much because of the food and the live jazz...and the servers are always upbeat5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMStill a great experienceWe like to go early and sit upstairs. We can talk before the music starts then sit back and enjoy the group that plays (different all the time ) It is worth going here for the entertainment but the food makes it a great experience. New Orleans style and still great service. They have expanded the upstairs so one can sit away from the main room in at a quieter table but still experience the music.
Most enjoyable.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place to eatWe've never been disappointed with Cajun queen. Top notch service, great food, and very nice ambiance.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat southern food. This is a great restaurant for Southern food. My creole was delicious, as was my wife's meal. It was our anniversary and we had a good time5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGood cajun foodWe have eaten her quite a few times and have never been disappointed.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGem in ElizabethSecond time at Cajun Queen. This time I got the dish with blackened chicken, sausage and pasta. It was delicious. My only negative about this place is the side salad. It's basically lettuce, shredded carrots and a half slice of a cucumber. It's not worth it! Get the other option.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceFirst visit for my husband and I hadn't been in 10+ years simply due to my husband not being very adventurous with food. Food was excellent. My husband had the 14oz pork chop which had a wonderful Cajun BBQ sauce. I had the Diane with chicken, shrimp and crawfish. Delicious, but next time I'm going for all crawfish...chicken is unnecessary when the crawfish is THAT good. Our server (Shauna) was way above par...she was attentive and personable. Will visit again to try other dishes.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat roof top patio for dining.Great roof top patio for dining. Always our "go to" restaurant.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother chance. We had not been there for 20 years after a bad service experience with a large group, we had brought to the restaurant. When we found out our good friend Collins was preforming there we gave it another try. The food was delicious and the service was very friendly and effecent. The music was very enjoyable. We will be going back soon.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is great. The jazz bandFood is great. The jazz band is always entertaining. Never disappointing.Always good. Never disappointing. Great wait staff.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFriendly and MemorableI came with wife and neighbors. They love the fried oysters. From a previous visit I remembered the shrimp scampi as delicious. This time the teaspoon of lemon sauce was thin and not so tasty, and I couldn't cut the broccoli with a knife. We sat upstairs where a table was graciously reserved for us by Laurie. We had agreed beforehand to sit at an upstairs table to honor our neighbor's preference. He'd been a band member there for decades. For me, sitting by the band practically curtailed table conversation. However, it was a friendly and memorable place, a pleasant night out and a pretty good culinary experience, except for the broccoli.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMwell, it would my first datewell, it would my first date with this lovely young lady. The store was nice and cozy and we like the music. The food was excellent the service was excellent , yes I would come back and try some more of your food let me repeat, we will come back had a great time, thank you.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMCajun Queen was King today! As always the Cajun Queen brought their "A' game! From the moment we walked in they greeted us, sat us and we had our water as soon as we sat. Within minutes the waitress was there taking our orders. Drinks and bread came quickly as did the appetizer salads. Waitress was very friendly and had fun with the kids as well. The food came next and was top nothch as expected and they delivered! Great experience.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed our experience here,Enjoyed our experience here, would like to come back and try the awesome looking Pork Chop dish I noticed being served to the table next to us. Our Crawfish Scampi appetizer was excellent and the dinner portions of Shrimp and Grits and the Shrimp Scampi were enough to take a little home with us.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe LOVE the food and ambienceWe LOVE the food and ambience at the Cajun Queen. You can't go wrong. My only complaint was our table on this particular visit. We had a reservation, but we were squished into a tight corner table. We felt like we were "on-top-of" the people next to us. We did NOT have this issue on our first visit. Both times, the food & service was excellent!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Cajun food in the area!I had been looking forward to trying the food at Cajun Queen for quite some time, and I was certainly not disappointed. From the fried green tomatoes to the dessert, everything was topnotch. The waiter was attentive, but not obtrusive, and the jazz band added just the right touch. All in all, a great time, and I can't wait to go back.
The only negative was that the tables are so close together that you can barely squeeze in to your chair, and the tables are so small that you can hardly fit the food on them.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWe loved dining in the sunroom,We loved dining in the sunroom, we think it is either new or remodeled. There was a breeze coming in the windows and a great view of the park.
My blackened pork tenderloin was fantastic. My husband thought the shrimp creole was good, but very similar to the seafood gumbo we had for an appetizer. He wouldn't order them together again. The servers were pretty attentive, we never had an empty water glass.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was excellent...Everything was excellent... only glitch was parking which was a surprise on a Sunday afternoon...4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food but noise levelGreat food but noise level and closeness of tables made conversation hard.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMDon't miss out!Great service, delicious food, wonderful atmosphere! A must visit if you're in the city!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMStill my favorite restaurantStill my favorite restaurant in Charlotte. We've been several times. On this occasion, as usual, everyone in my party loved their food - the fish specials, the pork tenderloin and a dish called Diane. The salad and gumbo aren't very good, but otherwise this place is awesome. Unique, lively atmosphere. Definitely reminds me of New Orleans.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was great and our waiterFood was great and our waiter was fantastic! We sat downstairs and couldn't hear the music at all. Next time we will request a table upstairs and see which one we like best.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBob!CJ is one of my favorites mostly because of the fried oysters and BOB! This is truly one of Charlotte's OLD favorites. The ambiance is wonderful. I have tried every location in the place, the menu is sea-national! and BOB! well, Bob is one of the best wait persons ever- he knows how I like the oysters and Caesar, that I need extra dressing, like the rolls warm and the butter soft, like coffee before and ice tea, sweetened during... and I keep going back, taking friends, meeting friends and raving about the oysters. Oh, and yes, the shrimp scampi, the calamari, the gumbo and on. Keep up great work! Thanks.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food as always.Wonderful food as always. Service was a little slow (I like to have the bread before the gumbo) but overall a nice meal.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great Place To DineThe service and the food were great. When the weather is good I strongly recommend eating on the outside deck. I took a coworker there for her first time for her birthday and she loved it! She talked about letting her friends know about the restauant. The price of the amount of food is equally fitting.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe gumbo was what sold me.The gumbo was what sold me. It was traditional Cajun gumbo, without a heavy dose of file that most think is "authentic" Cajun. The service was very attentive and friendly, and the bourbon pecan pie was a perfect finisher.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food! The food is spectacular! I had the Salmon special and my husband had the Étouffée. We topped it off with a piece of Bourbon Pecan Pie. It is pricey, but worth it. Parking is terrible, so go early enough to circle the block a few times. The tables are close together, so don't plan on a private, intimate conversation. The service is excellent. I can't wait to go back.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMCajun Queen never disappoints.Cajun Queen never disappoints. The food, drinks and service are always fantastic. It the closest thing to eating in New Orleans you will find in the Queen City.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMToo loud though. Sat nextToo loud though. Sat next to a huge party of huge people. This was our intro dinner to family who is considering relocating, although waiter was fantastic as was the food the ambiance lacked and the noise was unbearable at times (could not hear the waiter let alone each other.) Also why not have speakers in each room so everyone can hear the jazz at a lower sound level than upstairs. Food knocked it out of the park though! Pat & Ken Dorcy3/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
