Cajun QueenThird time, all great.My third dinner and every meal was excellent. This time I tried the Shrimp Diane. Tons of smaller shrimp in this flavorful, delicious, spicy buttery shrimp broth which is accompanied with a heap of perfectly cooked rice. Excellent and that is an understatement. Every bite better than the last. My wife and daughter ordered, once again, the shrimp scampi and, to no surprise, enjoyed every bite. We started with the fried green tomatoes. Real good but next time we'll ask for the sauce on the side. They also start the table with some fresh, hot dinner rolls. Look for parking on the street because the lot is tough to find a spot and to drive around. Can't wait to go back. A live jazz band upstairs playing happy upbeat tunes really keep the energy going all night. The food was ok, others will argue it is the best Cajun in Charlotte but I disagree. I order Shrimp Gumbo, the shrimp was rubbery and overall it lacked flavor. I also order Shrimp Creole, a Cajun standard, and was also slightly disappointed at the lack of flavor. My wife ordered Shrimp Scampi and raved about it. The server was really slow and didn't provide refills for our drinks but was very personable. All in all I would go back and give Cajun Queen another try. WE all had a very enjoyable experience. The service was top notch, the ambiance was great and the food was the star of the day. There was six in our group and each entree ordered was cooked to perfection and a pallet pleaser. We will definitely be visiting again in the near future and definitely recommend it to individuals looking for great food with a cajun flare. He'd been a band member there for decades. For me, sitting by the band practically curtailed table conversation. From the moment we walked in they greeted us, sat us and we had our water as soon as we sat. Within minutes the waitress was there taking our orders. My blackened pork tenderloin was fantastic. My husband thought the shrimp creole was good, but very similar to the seafood gumbo we had for an appetizer. He wouldn't order them together again. This is truly one of Charlotte's OLD favorites. The ambiance is wonderful. I have tried every location in the place, the menu is sea-national! and BOB! well, Bob is one of the best wait persons ever- he knows how I like the oysters and Caesar, that I need extra dressing, like the rolls warm and the butter soft, like coffee before and ice tea, sweetened during... and I keep going back, taking friends, meeting friends and raving about the oysters. This was our intro dinner to family who is considering relocating, although waiter was fantastic as was the food the ambiance lacked and the noise was unbearable at times (could not hear the waiter let alone each other.)
