This restaurant is in the NY Historical Scy. It is architecturally interesting and beautiful with soaring ceilings, an all-white decor featuring lovely woodwork and porcelain plates from the society's collection. Our server was absolutely delightful -- very knowledgable about the wine selections and a perfect server. The food was delicious. I did not give it the highest stars because this is NYC after all. The grilled branzino and rigatoni were repaired to perfection. The restaurant is a happy place with happy people, so expect a certain amount of noise as the kitchen is open to the dining area.

Caffe Storico is a cheerful place designed for ladies who lunch. The hostess just stared at me when I entered at 1pm. I had to ask if she worked there because she looked like a patron, just dumpier. Lousy service until it was time to hurry our party along due to a special event scheduled for 2:45. OpenTable should have indicated this event when I made the reservation as we were considerably rushed. Food was mediocre. The linguine was really spaghetti, the frittata was rubbery and our server was overly eager to clear our plates which we clearly hadn't finished. No time for coffee or dessert as it was obvious we were no longer welcome. The wine was good although server didn't have a clue about the wine list. Not a great experience.

Bright and loud. Shrieking child near us also. We were seated under a shelf of glasses, and a waiter leaned over us to fill a tray which he then lifted over our heads. Not a great night out, and rather pricey to boot.

Welcoming, charming and bright. Tall ceilings make it airy but noise level for lunch made conversation difficult. Service attentive. Ricotta and toast starter was tasty but skimpy amount. Sandwiches were delicious , size was ok for N.Y price. Panzanella salad was skimpy overpriced- toasts in this bread salad should NOT be croutons. Dessert was lovely& all around classic. I'd go again when at the museums- but not with a group I'd like to converse with. Noise was a problem.

I visited Caffe Storico for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I absolutely loved it. I was looking for a place that would be good for a birthday dinner and that was participating in restaurant week and I came across raving reviews about Caffe Storico. Since I had no idea that there was a restaurant in the NY Historical Society, I was intrigued. Let me tell you, the reviews didn't lie - it was incredible. The decor was completely charming and the service was top notch. The food? ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. I cannot wait to go back.

Very, very pretty--nice location. Staff is very accommodating and pleasant. Food is very good (we did have restaurant week--assume everything else is as good). The acoustics are terrible! But like all New Yorkers, we accommodated after a while to the noise. If you need a place to have a "real" conversation, not such a great choice. But if that doesn't matter it's really lovely.

I had some friends from out of town and we all agreed to try this place out. We had dinner around 6:30pm on a friday and it was relatively quiet, but by 8:30 when we left, almost all the tables were full of diners. We had well-informed waitress who could answer any questions we had. My friend had the salad for her app & the other two tried the lamb. The lamb appetizer was amazing. The portion was a decent size, could have shared. I didn't finish to save room for my entree. I chose the fish with lemon - Again, absolutely amazing dish. Probably the best fish I've had in awhile. They chose the chicken and said it was perfectly cooked and moist not dry. You must choose the apricot panna cotta. It's fabulous! Sweet & Tart, perfectly balanced.

The overall decor of the restaurant is great and the open kitchen gives it a more casualness in too of the overall classy ambience. The food is quite ok in the way that they don't taste bad but they don't taste exceptionally well either, given the price. The dessert is quite a disappointment. It is too sweet and creamy for Italian dessert.

My original glass of wine tasted like the bottle had been left open for several days. My entree - roasted chicken - had so much salt on the skin that any bites including skin weren't really edible. I didn't want to send a second thing back, so I just dealt with it. At prices like this ($13 for a salad, most entrees ~$30) I expect more, even in NYC.

I had eaten here before and had a lovely meal so went back and was very disappointed. After having spent ten minutes with the menu and settling on the two been items that I wished, I was advised my our waitress that neither of these was available (information that would have been far more helpful when the menus were provided). I struggled with the balance of the menu because I'm vegetarian, and when I explained this to our waitress, she left, saying she would give us "some more time" with no effort to assist or help me try and select something suitable. The service overall was lacklustre, which seems far below average when compared with other New York restaurants.

My husband and I absolutely love this restaurant. The food is always excellent and a very good mix of traditional and a little adventurous. they also vary their menu periodically during the year--each menu being equally delicious and fun. Whenever we have family or special friends visiting from outside NYC, we always bring them to Storico for dinner and every person has thanked us profusely as they eat every bit of food. Additionally, the service continues to be extremely professional--friendly but not obsequious/efficient but not hovering. Storico will continue to be one of our absolute favorite restaurants.
