  • "Maybe there was a different cook. One week ago I had lamb and it was very good. This time - it had a gray fuzz (marinade - server said) and it tasted off, spoiled ! so we returned it and both had scallops - scallops were undercooked at first - that was corrected but $25 for 5 scallops with a tiny handful of arugula and tiny bits of tomato ( not more than 1 thin slice) and tiny bits of onion floating in way too much olive oil - this was a bit overpriced . Seeing that we were not happy with dinner, they offered a free dessert - We had tres leches cake. Again, last week it was very good, this night it seemed it was perhaps not quite defrosted. So - I don't know - I've had very good breakfasts here, one good dinner and one awful dinner."

  • "THis is a nice restaurant. The lamb was quite good - the fish was only fair. The scallops were fairly good. Don't order the pig cheeks - tasted like overdone brisket. The mushrooms were nice.Personally, I think the small plates are too pricey. $9 for a handful of little mushrooms on a piece of overtoasted bread? The Tres leches was wonderful and the wine - a Pinot Griege was excellent."

  • "Nice outdoor dining but rain kept us inside. Brussel sprouts and parsnip starters were good, as was the squash soup (tasted like pumpkin pie). Enjoyed lean corned beef and tender scallops. Suggest they consider taking the skin off of salmon for better presentation with polenta. Venice was a great server."

  • "With the new ownership, it appears that prices have gone up, wine selection has deteriorated and prices have risen, the chef and the staff have changed. The Thai steak salad had nice napa cappage, but the beef appeared to be the gristle-y, fatty parts trimmed off steak. The salmon was--salmon -- on a bed of surprisingly flavorless but "hot" polenta. The two different white wines by the glass were "interesting" -- the term one uses when you can't find much good to say. Please note that the service was good. However, overall disappointing -- we had always so enjoyed coming here. We may try again in a few months to see if the "new-owner bugs" have been worked out. "

  • "I went to Niche to celebrate my graduation from the university of utah! I had made a reservation for a larger group, and despite some rearrangements at the last minute, we were seated right away. The staff was energetic and very prompt. Although I had been to Niche before, the food never ceases to amaze my palate! It is always delicious! My family visiting from out of state loved the experience!! We had a wonderful time! Thanks for making such a lovely experience! Niche is my favorite of Salt Lake!"

I would really like to return to try other items on the menu. I was very impressed. Even though it looks trendy, it wasn't pretentious, which I found speaking."

  • "My party was greeted at the door immediately as we walked in. The hostess was so friendly and started out our dining experience on a high note. We were new to this spot and our server was very informative and accommodating. We started with tapas style plates of amazing dishes, the warm potato salad and shredded brussel sprouts. Amazing and delish!!! We shared the fish tacos and the elk burger. We almost passed by the pickled jalapenos garnish but are so glad we didn't miss out. A great surprise. All around great experience."

  • "We were rarely given the utensils--knife, fork, spoon--we needed for each course. Waitress removed utensils after salad and only replaced them when we asked. This is clumsy and annoying! Please keep knives, forks, spoons replenished for each course! Vegetarian dish was a bit greasy--I recommend steaming some of the veggies and not slathering them in oil. I prefer plain artichoke to the one served on Saturday: too spicy and oily!"

  • "Once again a delightful, delicious meal -- and with it being 3/14 (Pie Day), both couples ordered the lemon meringue pie for dessert. Oops -- apparently a lot of others were celebrating Pie Day, as there was only one piece left. One couple said "we will forego". The staff then comped that couple with the tres leches cake -- something they had thought they did not want, but after one bite, were hooked. Thank you Caffe Niche for going the extra mile and caring about your customers!"

  • "Caffe Niche was recommended by a family member. Hadn't been before. Went on Valentine's Day so the menu was fixed. The lobster stuffed peppers were so good. The scallops were incredible - melt in your mouth delicious. The chocolate torte was the best thing I've had in a long time - went from sweet to cinnamon to a little heat - my wife got that and I ended up eating half of her dessert. The service couldn't have been better. Loved Caffe Niche. Will definitely be back!"

  • "This is a favorite restaurant of mine and the food has always been fantastic. They just switched their menu. The Mahi Mahi dish was so bland and nondescript, it was flavorless. The grapefruit brûlée missed the mark entirely. Appetizers (small plates) are limited and most of them are more like sides. Disappointing, but I will try again."

Not as good as say Copper Onion, but on par with most of the other great restaurants in the city. Will definitely be going back to try breakfast and/or brunch."

  • "Love the food and ambience and that the interior is roomy enough that you don't feel squished even when every table is taken. Atmosphere felt vibrant and energetic but bordered on being a little bit noisy. Plenty of high chairs and booster seats but no kids menu or changing table in restroom which makes me think they are pretty open to kids but not to the same extent as casual chain restaurants that really cater to families. Dinner prices are a little on the expensive side but worth it if you appreciate good food. Brunch prices are a great value for the quality/taste of food."

  • "I went here with my wife and a couple of friends for the first time. I hate brussel sprouts, always have, thought I always would. But the shaved brussel sprout appetizer that my wife made me eat was incredible. I am a convert. The Corned Beef was amazing and my wife said that her lamb dish was the best thing she ever ate. The place is beautiful, the service attentive and knowledgeable, and the food, well the food is the bomb. Can't wait to go back."

  • "I was served a quinoa salad that was dry and tasteless. Later my companions and I realized that they omitted the fixings--caramelized onions, apples, etc. My friend ordered an elk burger (which was dry and on an undistinguished bun), and was left without mustard, despite a request--while a nearby waitress talked to one of the few occupied tables (we were there at 5;30 pm). Our own waitress had disappeared for about half the meal. In all fairness, when I complained about the salad, our waitress took it off the bill. I had been looking forward to taking my daughter to Niche, which has a nice reputation."
