Diner Reviews
  • "My wife and I went for our anniversary and it was the best Italian restaurant we have been to in all of Salt Lake! It was close to our hotel and close to the Capital Theater. It was also great that we could make reservations so we didn't have to worry about running late. The staff was so friendly from the minute we walked in the door. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!"

  • "love caffee molise, we had an incredible patio table, great music. we were running late for the play and, even though they were busy, took care of us and hustled with the food and had great customer service."

  • "The food was good, but the outdoor atmosphere was great. They had a live band that added to it."

  • "Outstanding Mediterranean food with a creative style. Pork Loin with Figs is my favorite. Top it off with bread pudding in Caramel Sauce for dessert. Meal presentation was picture perfect. Chefs Specials are also excellent. Wine selection is impressive."

  • "Great location uptown with good food and very pleasant staff. Great seating outside. Loved the pappardelle and tiramisu."

  • "I love this restaurant for dinner, but was very disappointed in brunch."

  • "This is the first time I was not thrilled with dinner. My steak was over cooked, and because our waiter was nowhere to be found, the manager had to take over. That was great, but she was also taking care of one of two very large groups as well as a couple of smaller ones (because of this, service was lacking). I will, however, continue to go back because my previous experiences were fantastic. This was just a tough night for them."

  • "I'm usually very lenient on "service" people, been there, done that; but the hostess checking people in seemed somewhat "off." More specific, we walk in and there is all kinds of people trying to check-in and she stared and clicked on the front desk computer for 4-5 mins. Saying "I'll be right with you" once! We all looked at each other wondering what was going on! Finally, when seated, the server & food were exceptional! First impression was a little rough, everything else...near perfect!"

  • "The ambiance of our outdoor table was quite good if it hadn't been for a couple motorcycles driving past on 100 S. Otherwise, it was quite nice for meeting my fiance's friends and enjoying very fine dining. Had I realized just how noisy 100 S could be I would have requested a table near the back of the outdoor area. I'll remember this in the future."

  • "Had a great table near the music. One of the best tables on the patio to watch the Jazz trio. The girlfriend was very impressed and was smitten with the ambiance and food. "

  • "Took a date here for lunch. The staff went out of their way to help make it a romantic and memorable."

  • "I read in the advertising magazine in the hotel that Caffe Molise gave a free appetizer with two entrees. The manager had no knowledge of the promotion. Other than that, the restaurant is fantastic and our waitress was the best. I cannot remember her name but she had spent a lot of time in Italy and spoke Italian. "

  • "Outdoor seating is surprisingly quiet and picturesque. Weekend live music is a treat and I wish they would increase the line-up. This would be a great location for nightly local music. Always go for the chef's special, especially when the server says he's trying something new. The chef is skilled, has a great imagination, and puts together satisfying flavors. "

  • "This was my second visit to Cafe Molise. I am not sure what was off but our experience was just ok. We had a bottle of wine which was delicious and a good value. We both ordered salads and pasta. Everything was fine but not memorable. The first time I dined there we sat outside, ordered one of the specials and I wanted to lick my plate it was that good."

  • "This place has a really nice outdoor patio and a really impressive wine list. Food was solid, but not the best Italian I've ever had. However, for Salt Lake, this is the best local place I've experienced."

  • "We happened upon this as a second choice. Our favorite restaurant (Naked Fish) must have changed ownership or chef as they no longer serve sushi for lunch (very disappointed), so we followed the lunch crowd down two more doors to Cafe Molise. And boy, are we glad we did! In SLC for an annual business trip. The lunch which was superb, resulted in lunch the next day also, and finally on our last night dinner as well. All excellent, great taste, uniquely prepared food, impeccable service, attentive wait staff (kudos to Lori!). Outside patio dining is really wonderful. always ask for it if nice weather. Prices are super reasonable for the quality and service and ambiance. If you live in SLC go to Cafe Molise tonight!"

  • "Caffee Molise was recommended by a friend as a great restaurant. It was not. The food was fine but not notable. The service was a little slow but not bad. I will not go back. "

  • "Very nice meal; spinachi ensalata & unprounceable (by me or the server, which struck me as mildly odd) pasta dish w/ sausage. Might have been Ostecchioeci. Though I couldn't say it, I did like it. Lots of folks clearly enjoying themselves. I dined alone so cannot offer more than my own enjoyment of the food, wine, and space. I had one other, very different meal in SLC so can't offer much contrast."

  • "More than I expected. People often say you get what you pay for. The food was excellent. The Music was not expected but enjoyed and with my future Daughter In law and her mother we all had a great time."

  • "I've been here numerous times while on business in SLC. This time, my group of 15 sat in the wine/bar area and we LOVED it. GREAT vibe and wonderful ambiance. The food was incredible. Great wine selection (flights or bottles). Highly recommend."

  • "We ate here before going to a Ballet West performance which meant we did not have to rush as we could just walk across the street. Staff was friendly and efficient and thanked us for coming. Food was outstanding; excellent wine, very fresh salad and the olive oil was exceptional. My friend, who visits Italy frequently, thought the whole dinner was exceptional. A friend had recommended the restuarant and we will certainly spread the word."

  • "There were eight in our party. Everyone of us was pleased with the food and drinks. The restaurant was very busy yet the staff was attentive. Nice place to meet up with friends."

  • "Wife had polenta con funghi (mushrooms). Colorful, perhaps too many ingredients, but good. I had polpette di melanzane (eggplant meatballs). Quite tasty, very good. The place is a "caffe", with simple wooden chairs and tables. It is somewhat disconcerting, since you expect a more decorative experience on a weekend outing. Having said that, the food was good, service slow and inattentive. I personally am not very fond of polenta (baked cornmeal slices). The caffe is huge, has both outdoor and indoor areas (outdoor can be nice on a warm summer day) ."

  • "We had a great time. There weren't many people there so we got all the attention. We were a chatty, lively family and it was a great place to get together to eat great food and drink good wine while catching up with loved ones. The menu is diverse enough that everyone could find something they liked. We will definitely be back again when the weather is warmer and we can sit out on the fantastic patio."

  • "We hosted a dinner for a visiting business contact with a total of 10 people. The room was very nice with a big window looking out onto the street. All of the appetizers and meals were very good and the staff were very friendly and efficient. The ambiance music was slightly louder than expected causing some difficulty hearing such a large group. However I would definitely select Caffe Molise again for future meetings or personal events."

  • "I was initially very excited for my visit to Cafe Molise. My first impressions were that the environment was nice and I really enjoyed the live music. However, the service was horrible. Several people who arrived after us received their food before us. Our waiter was extremely slow and the food was "just ok." I was really disappointed overall in my experience at Cafe Molise."

  • "Caffe Molise is a local spot that serves up some great Italian food. The wait staff is nice and attentive and their menu is really solid, offering a lot of dishes from pasta to country style Italian cuisine. Although not as flavorful as I was hoping, it was a really good meal in Salt Lake that seems to have an abundance of chain restaurants in their downtown location. Their patio looks fabulous during the summer time and when I'm back in SLC, I'll give it a shot!"
