I wasn't impressed with Caffe Falai at all even though I was so excited to try it. Food was decent- they were out of the three entrees my husband and I wanted to try so we had pasta. Good, but not great. Sadly won't be going back and wouldn't really recommend considering the countless number of great italian restaurants in the city.

I absolutely LOVED Caffe Falai. From the second we got there it was excellent. Ok the drinks could have come a little faster, but no big deal. Pasta was pefect. Highly recommend the bread soup and the vegetable plate. We went with 6 people, and everyone was thrilled. Can't wait to go back.

I come for the pasta. At their price point, it doesn't get much better. Handmade pastas are on point and and tasty. Service is efficient but uneven (depends on the waiter) and not really feeling the decor, but when I feel like pasta with minimal fuss I come here.

Love this place. Their waiters are warm Italians and the food is comprised of amazing soft cheeses, meats and pastas - I don't think you can go wrong with much on their menu. I would go back again and again, if only there weren't so many other restaurants I needed to try in this city! I had their special gnudi - delicious and not heavy on the butter; my friend's salmon was tasty and the pastas my other two friends ordered (I think a cavatelli was one) were excellent as well. Recommend the charcuterie platter and the soft cheese as a starter.

Located off the busy streets of SoHo (Prince st to be exact), Caffe Falai is quite the find. Our group indulged mostly in the salads, charcuterie, cheeses and pastas and all of us enjoyed our dishes. Each of the dishes were thoughtfully prepared, without being 'over thought' or 'over decorated'. The wine list was decent and not overbearing. Definitely returning to eat a casual dish of pasta and salads soon.

I found this restaurant through OpenTable, and have since become a regular. Have not had a disappointing meal once. The staff is attentive and discreet, the food is to die for, and the ambience exudes a modern, European charm that blends well with the neighborhood. Can occasionally be loud, but the overall feeling has a great energy. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The food is excellent. Each of the dishes we ordered had interesting food combinations that were just wonderful. The pasta with spring vegetables was great and the color was amazing. We ordered the arugula salad and the lentil and chickpea salad--both of which are worth ordering. The desserts were also great, especially the chocolate dessert in cookie shape. We would definitely go back because there was so much on the menu we wanted to try. What a find!

Delicious every time, Cafe Falai never disappoints. Unique eats prepared in a clean healthy way that allows the flavor to explode makes it difficult to decide what to order. On a small yet important business dinner, our waiter was involved and efficient without being disruptive. The ambience is hip, and can be as casual or upscale as you want to be.

I always eat very well at Falai - the food is consistently good and so is the service. I love the avocado salad, octopus salad and battuta di melanzane. The bread and olive oil is always fresh and delicious and the coffee is great. They make a mean cappuccino. Their baked eggs look delicious. I like the ambience and the open kitchen. The service is very attentive and not arrogant. I highly recommend Caffe Falai.

    Dined on 2/25/2012
I had dined here before dinner on Saturday night. It had always been one of my favorite restuarants. The food was still great, but our waitress was one of the most unpleasant, rude, unattentive waitresses I've ever had. We split the bill between two people, and when we left her 15% tip, she came over and scolded the guests asking why we hadn't left more. It can be appropriate to ask your guests if the service was not "up to par", but to make guests who are on a date feel akward for leaving 15% when the service was abominable is inappropriate. I was a waitress and hate being treated as if I don't deserve the attention of another more important guest. We did not get our wine until after the food came and felt ignored and rushed. It was awful.

I always liked this attractive cafe but the waiter was so horrible and rude and ignored us as long as possible and with the restaurant half full it took him 30 minutes to bring three egg dishes. The models at the table next to us came in fifteen minutes after us and their food was on the table fifteen minutes before our food. I asked a simple question regarding adding onions to an omellette and he responded in an angry fashion, yes if you want them raw we won't cook them. I can't remember the last time a server ruined my experience in a restaurant as happened on Sunday.
