Diner Reviews
  • "The food represents the best of the season. It is traditional but inventive, and is prepared with an eye toward fidelity to the ingredients' character and quality. The wait staff possesses sound knowledge of the menu and the wine list. They get opportunities to try the wine in order to better recommend pairings. If they don't know the answer to a question, they will find someone who does. The sommelier picks wines for the list which represent not only classic Italian styles but out-of-the way DOGs and heirloom varietals. When this place was built it was controversial. Some neighborhood residents feared the traffic it might create, preferring apparently the out of business gas station with the leaky underground storage tanks!"

  • "We travel a lot and are big fans of unique and tasty food. Caffe Dolce is outstanding! Our waitress was WONDERFUL.....overall I don't think you could go wrong heading out the door to eat here. Keep up the food and service....we'll be back!"

  • "Who ever thought you could find squid ink pasta in Missoula, MT? Delicioso."

  • "Both the food & set-up are unique. While not what I would think of as my everyday foods, they provide a very tasty & surprising filling meal for a reasonable price. The open, but crowded lay-out is also not something that I would look for, but was a friendly & enjoyable."

  • "The music was blaring so loud that we would have walked out if we had not had reservations. The place sounded like a disco."

  • "Requested a table in the side room, which is much quieter, and has a beautiful display of plates, serving pieces, and coffee cups from Italy. I ordered the Shrimp & Serrano Tagliatelle. I am not a fan of very hot food, so requested a fraction of the serrano chilies. It was still too hot. I flagged the waitress and asked for some cheese on the side. That didn't help, so I picked out as many of the chilies that I could find and muscled my way through it. The manager came around asking about our meal. I mentioned to him that my dish was too hot (spicy). He offered to make a new plate for me, but since I was almost done, I declined. A few minutes later, he came by with a "gift certificate" for a free entree on our next visit."

  • "Though I have totally taken dates here, I went with my friend. We had a fun time, great food, and phenomenal wine. As an Italian restaurant, I was surprised that they had gluten free options for my friend. And when the server gave an accidental gluten full plate of food to her, he was very gracious when he noticed the error and returned with the proper plate of pasta. They took the opportunity to admit their mistake and keep our dinner flowing nicely."

  • "The menu at Cafe Dolce has something for everyone. Amazing flavor choices in pasta and a variety of other offerings. Don't miss the octopus and bone marrow pasta. To die for! The service was nicely timed and the portions were spot on. Highly recommended. It can be a bit noisy but not awful. The gelato for dessert is great too."

  • "First time, very enjoyable and good food, will come back when ever in Missoula."

  • "The staff is well trained; they are genuinely considerate. The food is elegantly simple. The ingredients are fresh; combined and cooked into wonderful combinations. I frequently have a pasta dish which is not too rich or overdone. It is simply a fine dinner."

  • "Our party of four included a vegetarian and a gluten-free and dairy-free dieter. We all found something delicious on the menu and were very happy with the winter menu selection. The duck confit and pork belly were especially good. Be sure to make a reservation any night of the week, or go for a late dinner."

  • "By far the best dining experience in Missoula. Perfect for special occasion dinners. Our waitress was very knowledgable about the menu items and the history of the establishment."

  • "First impression was that the decor didn't look like the decor of a top rated restaurant and was unsure whether the food would be top notch. Much to our surprise, the food was excellent and would rival any 4-star restsurant in any large metro area. To make it ever better, the waitress as outstandig as well. Wasn't happy to see a $20 pour charge on a birthday present of whiskey we brought in and waitress didn't even touch the bottle, and we used our own glasses."

  • "Everything right down to the coffee was near-perfect. Incidentally, a black cod dish that was not so good the last time was fine this time around. Dolce was on top of its game."

  • "Caffe Dolce is one of my favorite Missoula area restaurants. I have pretty high standards when it comes to food, and have never had a meal there that was in any way disappointing. Be it beef, fish, or pasta, the quality is always high, and the preparation is spot on - never undercooked or overcooked. Add to that great ambiance and service, and reasonable prices, and you have a winner. Highly recommended!"

  • "Noisy with Small Overpriced Portions. That says it all."

  • "I love Cafe Dolce! Whether for dinner or lunch the food never fails. The only down side to the restaurant is it can be a bite noisy. It is a wonderful spot for Missoulians and one of my favorite places to eat!!"

  • "Every time I go to Cafe Dolce I'm blown away by the FLAVORS! I love the tiramisu gelato and would have it every day if I lived in Missoula. Love the wine list, but also love the house wine by the glass. I'm always well sated, satisfied and pleased by the overwhelmingly wonderful experience I have when dining at Cafe Dolce!"

  • "We had good food and our waitress was exceptional. It is noisy with the high ceilings. We have also eaten lunch there several times and the prices are more reasonable but there is a delay time between ordering and getting your food. There is also a real problem with parking but we enjoy the food so much that it is worth it."

  • "I love Caffe Dolce's food, coffee, wine & beer list. It is a fun place to go--except for the noise level. You can't hold a conversation in the main area. Need to do some noise remediation."

  • "My husband and I were here for diner on a recent jaunt to Missoula, and found the food to be wonderful, as usual! Staff was very attentive, food came in a fairly timely way, considering how busy they were on this evening. Noise, however, continues to be an issue at this location. Did notice they have installed sound boards high on the very tall walls, which helped a bit. We'll return, as overall we enjoy dining here, and the patio in summer is fabulous!"

  • "First time to the restaurant. Service was great. The food was also great. We did not have to wait long for food despite it being busy inside."

  • "Wonderful! Took friends from Billings and we spent the rest if our weekend talking about how amazing the food was! We are all originally from Denver and have our favorite restaurants there and we all put our food experience equal to those. Great food.!"

  • "The place was incredibly loud. I couldn't hear anything the waitress was saying. If the weather permits, sit outside. Nevertheless, the food was excellent, although the pasta portions were smaller than I expected for the price."

  • "This place could be a real gem. I appreciate that it is off the beaten path, and has a neighborhood feel. It is a beautiful wide open space, yet you could easily have a romantic dinner. Ours was not - we had both of our teen daughters with us and they were equally comfortable in this setting. We had several pizzas and pastas that had a home-cooked appeal to them, yet light, as we still had room for dessert. One gripe - the dessert service was a bit off. We were told to go over to the gelato/bakery counter and pick out what we wanted. I thought it was odd that we needed to leave the table to get our own dessert. And when we returned to the table - we found a dessert menu had been placed in the middle of the table. ??"
