A word from Cafe Un Deux Trois
Cafe Un Deux Trois has been located in the heart of Times Square since 1977. We opened when the neighborhood was still very rough , and quickly became THE brasserie to stop for dinner and drinks before heading off to Studio 54 and Xenon to dance the night away.
We were and still are frequented by American and European theater and film actors, as well as politicians, directors, local New Yorkers and tourists from around the world. You will find many a Broadway cast and crew member hanging out after the show on any given night.

We recently had a facelift featuring enormous windows and a new color scheme.
The food while still classic bistro fare has expanded to include a variety of sandwiches, hamburgers and an extensive breakfast.
We have also added a selection of savory and sweet crepes to our dining choices.

Diner Reviews
  • "Always top notch! Good prices. Steak tartar is superb. One of the best in the city."

  • "Couldn't hear the couple we were with. Much too noisy."

  • "I had lost track of this restaurant. The food is great. It feels like Paris. The prices are quite reasonable. I have not done dinner, but can recommend breakfast or lunch."

  • "Fun atmosphere. Good waitstaff. Server was unsure how to describe beer on menu but, found out from the bartender. Appreciated. Service was prompt but not rushed. Food was outstanding, especially the specials. Would and have recommended. A little noisy but that was expected from a restaurant with this atmosphere."

  • "Was very disappointed- The service was non existent- when finally getting the attention of a waiter,or busboy,or whoever you could talk to- the main reply was- " we are very busy " worst thing to say to anyone ( except if you are treating them like they are NOT paying ) like all those other people who ARE paying and getting the service. Will NOT go back there- and surly guy at the front desk, should work in a stockroom so he does not need to deal with people- hard time getting the check-"

  • "Extensive menu of French food. Quality and preparation was very good. Waiter was also nice (not French). Good value for the price"

  • "Best attribute is location within the theater district. Salmon dishes were ok. Salad apps with goat cheese arrived without the goat cheese. Boeuf Bourguignon and lamb shank were well below par for a French restaurant."

  • "A great pre show dinner spot. Pre fixe is a value! We had the cordon blue and it was delicious! Wait staff very attentive."

  • "Food was "okay". Easy theatre location. I guess I would go back if I couldn't find someplace else to go."

  • "First, the two of us were moved to a less desirable table in the midst of tables of 4 and 6, all of whom were seated and had ordered. Fortunately we were served fairly quickly, however the tables all around us were anxious about their lack of service. The wait staff was ignoring our entire area because the other patrons were loudly trying to get served and on to the theater. It was really disruptive and unpleasant to hear all the loud voices complaining. Not a nice, relaxing way to start an evening out."

  • "Great French ambiance with authentic French food. Enjoyed the vegetable crepe as well as the Croque Monsieur. Staff was attentive even on a busy Friday night. Great for lunch or pre-show dinner."

  • "A good choice for a quick meal before or after a Broadway show."

  • "We went for a pre-theater birthday lunch for our 11 year old daughter. The crepes were just delicious. The lighting was bright. The atmosphere was fresh and airy, without being too cold, despite the hot and humid weather outside. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to others (I already have) and we will definitely return. The service was attentive and kind - food came out fairly quickly after being ordered. They sang happy birthday to our daughter and we were all very happy with Cafe un deus trois!"

  • "Terrific French bistro food. Love their croque monsuier. Good fries, crepes, salads and light fare. Fast service, good for pre-theatre, they can get you out out on time. It is a noisy restaurant, however, so dont go with someone hard of hearing. I am a repeat customer, it is a good reliable place and has never failed us."

  • "Been here many, many times. So dependable and, for the theatre district, a good bang for the buck. Nothing in NY is cheap, but here you get really great food for moderate (NY) prices. Sometimes can be noisy, but for me that adds to the fun. Attentive and professional service. Love the salads. Just like Paris - fresh and filling. Daily soups are usually good, too. (I'm not an Onion Soup fan, but I'm sure it's great!) I've also had the crepes - nice variety of sweet and savory. My dining companion had Chicken Cordon Bleu - it looked terrific. There are a bunch of Bistro-style restaurants around town. Lots, actually. But Un Deux Trois certainly has my vote for number one."

  • "my husband and I went to see Phantom of the Opera's matinee show and chose Cafe Un Deaux Trois for dinner afterward. We had made a reservation but got there early and were seated right away. The service was attentive and the food very good. We were very happy with the choice!"

  • "We really enjoy this restaurant and have now returned several times for lunch and brunch. Great atmosphere, convenient location and nice menu."

  • "Always a great place to meet with a friend or a group of friends, fun lively space, close to all the theaters."

  • "On of my long-time favorites in the Broadway area is no longer. The noise level, the service and the feel of a French bistro are still there but the food the other night was bland and tasteless. In addition they must have forgotten to put the steak on the sandwich-just 1 1/2 thin slices on each half."
    Dined on 6/19/2014
  • "Service was slow, couldn't hear myself think, never mind the company I was with. Had to ask for our lunch. But the n again, it was Wednesday matinee day. So perhaps another day would be better."

  • "Perfect for pre theatre. Service and food were both very good. Wide variety of choices. Very noisy when we went prior to a matinee."

  • "We were late getting to our reservation and therefore running late for the theater. The were wonderful accommodating us and the food was perfect."

  • "We go to Un Deux Trois every time we go to New York. The location is convenient to theaters but not in the midst of the Times Square chaos. Bistro type food is consistently fine and prix fixe Sunday brunch and lunch have lots of choices. It is a big room but not too noisy and the service is friendly and unpretentious."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "We were the first people there at 4:30 so our service was perfect and there was no noise level at that time. The prix fixe dinner for 31.00 was a great value and the food and portions from the bread to the dessert were delicious! The chocolate martini was fabulous and all four of us could not have been happier and more satisfied. I haven't been here in years and am looking forward to returning soon."

  • "I've always loved this place. The food is always excellent. They have a great wine list. The wait staff is always friendly and attentive and the location of the restaurant is very convenient for theater goers. I know of no reason to not recommend Un Deux Trois unless you don't like French Bistro food."

  • "Cafe Un Deux Trois adjacent to Belasco Theater and a perfect place for dinner before going to the show. We had the Prix Fixe and enjoyed our meals completely. She had pate, cream chicken cordon bleu with Chocolate Mousse and I had cheddar broccoli soup and box tie pasta with fruit sorbet. We loved the meal and would come back for more. Bonus for next time is that they have breakfast. The service was outstanding, but make sure you have reserved a table it gets really busy before shows. We loved the ambience, and excitement of being so close to our theater. "

  • "Convenient to theater district, friendly wait staff and good food. One, two, three-a great combination."

  • "This is an old standby for us as a pre-theater restaurant. The servers will always get you going in time for your show and the menu is broad enough that everyone can find something they will enjoy eating."

  • "This was our first visit since the renovations. With out of town guests staying nearby we thought it would be perfect for a pre theater bite. Service as always was fabulous. Attentive server was on the top of his game I was hoping for a light seasonal perhaps, appetizer. None were offered so I opted to begin with green salad Greens were gritty and limp under the weight of way too much dressing, really pretty gross My entree of salmon was fine and my guests seemed to enjoy theirs as well I think the sprucing up could have continued with a great tile blasting of the floors and a Reno of the restrooms as the bathroom was kind of gross Overall I would recommend, I just would suggest you stay away from items that need washing like salad"

  • "The poached eggs on the eggs benedict were overcooked. The quiche had kind of a mushy consistency- not very pleasant. The croque madame was very bland. The only good item we had was the nutella crepe and it was delicious."
    Dined on 5/31/2014
  • "My boyfriend's food came out about 20 minutes after everyone was already done eating and the food wasn't good enough to make up for that. I wouldn't recommend this place."
    Dined on 5/25/2014
  • "We eat here often when in New York. Great atmosphere, great French food, and a lovely staff. Close enough to all the Broadway action that you can have dinner and walk to most theaters for your show. Their escargot is worth trying - as are the many different crepes they offer. "

  • "If you're going to the theater, this is a good alternative. They have been there for years, its usually full so a lot of other people also like it, and they do a good job of getting you out before curtain time. You can count on very efficient service, decent food for the price and an "old world" feel. That said, I would not consider it a destination fine-dining establishment to go out of your way to get to. The snails were a bit tough as was my half chicken that for some reason was served with french fries. The service was good but rushed even though we were quite early for our performance next door. But that's better than being slow. In the same situation I'd return but stick to simpler things from their menu."
    Dined on 5/31/2014
  • "I went expecting it to be average but it turned out to be outstanding. The food was delicious. Our waiter was delightful and very helpful not only in his food recommendations but in getting us to the theatre on time with out having to rush through dinner. I definitely would come back."
    Dined on 5/29/2014
  • "Greeted warmly, seated by the window (distracting for conversation), offered water and coffee. Waiter rushed us with our food order and did not ask about other choices of sides. Never came back to refill coffee (could not get anyone's attention) even though there were only a few tables. Food was rather small portions and very greasy. Expensive!!! Sadly disappointing!"
    Dined on 5/29/2014
  • "the food remains the same in this outdated looking place that could stand some sprucing up."
    Dined on 5/25/2014
  • "Huge portion sizes, but was the least flavorful steak I've had in a LONG time. The french onion soup was good, though. The I think I had to flag down a different person every time we needed service, too - each person was very nice and responsive, but I had no idea who our server was."
    Dined on 5/24/2014
  • "Perfect place to eat prior to the Sunday matinee next door. The service was fast but not intrusive. Food came out quickly after ordered and was very tasty. Noise level was kind of high as the area is an open space, but our seat was by the back wall and we had a great time."
    Dined on 5/25/2014
  • "Discovered right next to the Belasco theatre. A quaint French cafe with a decent menu. Enjoyed it so much we returned for breakfast two days later. Friendly staff and excellent tasting food."
    Dined on 5/9/2014
  • "This had long been a favorite spot for dinner before the theater but this time the food was a major disappointment. The fish special with horseradish was dry and almost not edible. The onion soup was even mediocre. My husband lamb chop special was a joke. Three tiny ugly looking chops. We were four and the check was over 300 with a bottle of wine. Simply not worth it. "
