Cafe SpiaggiaTerrific Place!We loved Cafe Spiaggia for its food, atmosphere and energy. The pasta fungi was perfectly cooked as was the roasted salmon with artichokes and fennel. The tiramisu was also outstanding. The energy level is quite robust so don't go if you're looking for a quiet, romantic evening but if you want to be transported to Rome, here is the place. Service was outstanding as well as the gorgeous, rich marble laden interior. I had come from California for a business meeting,and this was the one restaurant I wanted to visit. It didn't disappoint in any way, from the kale and pumpkin salad, to the Salmon with a bed of roasted vegetables, to the caramel gelato and the cinnamon rice pudding. Fantastic! A couple of days before they called to confirm and asked me if it was for a special occasion. I told them about the b-day, and when they brought the menu that had a happy birthday note for her on the menu itself. Cute touch. We had a window table which provided a great view of Michigan Avenue. Food was outstanding. Only minor complaint is that the waiter could have been better. When asked what he recommended he didn't really note anything other then to say its a "really solid menu." Could have used a little more help there. We made an early reservation and brought our little girl. THe manager made sure to come over and tell us that we could get anything for her, we just had to ask. The Cafe has continued to serve superb gourmet food with attentive service in an uptown charming style.
