The food is very good, the service excellent, and the location central. This is one of my favorites. The noise level seems to be increasing, which I suppose is a good thing, but not for all occasions.

My wife and I tried this restaurant while scouring for a 1,000 point table on Open Table. We found one here that gave us just enough time to eat and make it to a movie. The menu looked good, but once we got there and tried the food, we were highly impressed. The calimari was excellent for an appetizer. I had a hard time deciding between the turkey sandwich and the lamb burger. I got the burger, and did not regret it--if you get it, ask for the Sriracha mayo. We had the apple crumb cake for dessert, which was fantastic. My only complaint: they didn't have ice cream to go with the pie. Other than that, it was delicious. Server was friendly and responsive. We will definitely be coming back. Overall a great experience!

Location is great. Everything else is really just good. Very nice to have the open front wall to the street, but way too much noise due to proximity of the White House. Service should be faster during the lunch hour.

Having been here before I was expecting a great pre-theater meal. Not sure if all was due to Sunday or holiday weekend?? However the waiter spoke poor English and therefore got 2 of 4 meals incorrect. The gazpacho was oddly sweet [as in sweetener vs. garden sweet tomatoes].

Noon on Sunday of Labor Day weekend is not a busy time at 17th and I. We were first in at 12 Noon and only 3 other people joined while we were there. Service was excellent, non-obtrusive and timing great. Had we not been scheduled for a Museum, we probably would have lingered longer. There was no Brunch menu which was disappointing. Salads were fresh, topped with Grilled Shrimp (OK) and Crab cake (Great) along with an ice tea and Arnold Palmer ($60+ with tip).

We decided to try out HH after work and the service was horrible. Only one waiter managing a certain section and did not understand English well. I thought that I would give HH a try but the poor service was the same when we had lunch there in February 2014. At lunchtime, it was very crowded so I gave the service a pass. However, HH was not crowded at all on a Tuesday night. The lunch menu is better and the HH menu was horrible. Not many selections.

My first trip to Cafe Soleil was a great disappointment. The tables are crowded together to closely making conversation very difficult over the extremely high level of noise. The surfaces are all hard, contributing to that. My entree was uninteresting - not inviting, and not well presented on the plate. The location is great, the reservation process went very smoothly.

I lofe the ambience at Cafe Soleil. It has the feel of a real French bistro. And when the weather is nice and the front doors are open to fresh air, it's really wonderful. The service is typically good as well. But the food never quite lives up to my expectations. Don't get me wrong. the food isn't bad by any means, but it's just ok. It could just be a much better overall dining experience if the food were better.

Cafe Soleil makes a great, convenient middle-downtown DC venue for rendezvous with friends - it's an elegantly appointed, efficient, friendly, well-run restaurant with a diverse slate of savory menu items. There's something for everyone, whether you're an omnivore, vegetarian or pescetarian. The service is exceptionally attentive but not overbearing and the kitchen is amazingly quick - our food came out not more than 15 minutes after we ordered it.

After working in the Farragut Park area for nearly 10 years I went to Cafe Soleil for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Wish I had gone earlier. It's a small restaurant but the staggered tables provide some privacy, and the staggering indicates that they are thinking about the diner's experience. The service was attentive and well-timed. First place in a LONG time that the server waited until we were both done before asking to clear the plates. Frankly, I'd go back just for that. But in addition the food is quite good. I enjoyed my lamb burger and sweet potato fries (although the bun lacked the strength to make it through the meal) and my dining partner liked his burger. The little roll to start was also tasty.

Food was predictably good, service wasn't its usual excellent. The restaurant which was a wonderful place for a business lunch has gotten too noisy. I think there was no thought given to noise when they added a few additional tables. First the front was too noisy and now the back is too noisy for a comfortable conversation.

My friend and I went for a late lunch... while no one was there to eat; the spot was charming and cozy. They have daily specials. We had the crab stuffed salmon with mashed potatoes and asapargus. Asparagus wasn't cooked properly, however the lobster sauce was ok with the medium cooked salmon and mashed potatoes. Waitor was professional and didn't OVER bother us while we talked and caught up. I liked the place being a foodie, I would have loved a BIT more flavor to the food. Still would go back for date night. Nice find and 1000 is always a plus!

After a few bumps in realizing that the happy hour specials don't apply to the main/al fresco dining area (it would have been nice if that had been posted or explained online), we had a full appetizer-entree-dessert meal. We chose this place because it was close to our hotel. We arrived at 6:29 PM for out 6:30 PM reservation. There was no hostess on duty and we waited approximately 5 minutes before the waitress noted us standing there and seated us. Food was ok, but nothing special. Restaurant was nice, but really loud. My husband and I had to yell across the table to each other and the restaurant was 1/3 full (bar was busy though). We sat in a side booth, which was adequate, but noticed they had 4 tables crammed together in the center. No one was sitting at them at that time, but not sure how they would have fit everyone if the place had been full. Would not go back.

When they rearragnged the tables a while ago it much noiser in the front room. Will only go now if we can sit in the back which isn't great but is better. The point of lunch to have a conversation with the person(s) you are with over a good meal. Now doing that is impossible in the front room and I am a fan of this restaurant.

Dined on a Wednesday evening about 5:30. Mid-way through dinner I noticed it had become so loud, I could not hear conversation at my table. Service was very, very good. Food was delicious, but my steak was very difficult to cut with a steakknife. In addition, there was so much fat throughout the steak, I left 2/3 of it because I was tired of fighting with it.

We had an enjoyable lunch at Café Soleil midday on Saturday. The floor-to-ceiling windows were open so it was like outside dining indoors. The ambience truly reminded me of a Parisian café.
