Cafe Soleil and Lounge, located just off the Farragut West Metro Stop, has set the standard for dining in Washington for over a decade with our innovative cuisine and unmatched service. We are renown for our quaint, French inspired dining room that is ideal for a business lunch or a quiet escape from the busy hustle of Washington's business district.

We recently added a happy hour that runs seven days a week from 5-8 pm. This menu boasts fine wines at only $5 a glass, and small bites that "are fit for foodies" at an affordable price.

Book your office holiday parties, private happy hours, or meeting space with us. We offer the most competitive meeting space rates in Washington, DC.

We have also added a daily specials menu. Do not miss Tuesday's "Menage a Trois" Special, Wednesday's half priced wine night, and Saturday and Sunday Suppers featuring three courses for $20.99.

  • "Understaffed. We constantly Waited for drinks and had to ask for refills. The food took too long and just ordering took a long time. An otherwise great evening rewened. No host to greet you, buss boy also did room service. And two very overwhelmed waiters. :("

  • "We were looking for a nice restaurant that was close to the Hampton Inn with great atmosphere. Even though we reserved our table on Open Table they were not that crowded. Was a little disappointed that they were out of a key ingredient in their signature margarita, Absinthe. I settled for their $5 happy hour margarita which was actually very good. My Wife and I each had the salmon with arugula in a light cream sauce which was very good as well. I liked the cozy atmosphere. You do sit close to the person at the next table but that didn't bother me. I would recommend dinning here."

  • "Unusually poor service - we did not get served for quite a while even though the restaurant was not busy. What's more, the waiter had no idea what was in the veggie sandwich. Still, the house wines are excellent!"

  • "Amid the rather impersonal business milieu of the Farragut Square area, Cafe Soleil is a real gem. It maintains its character and charming bistro atmosphere, with welcoming service and excellent food at reasonable prices. The service was prompt, but you're not rushed to finish and leave. It's always a reliable favorite."

  • "I go to Cafe Soleil every month or two and always find it to be a pleasant experience. The service is good, the food is always excellent and beautifully presented. The menu changes from time to time. One of my favorite places. I can go and won't be surprised. I've never had a bad meal there. Great atmosphere too. Worth a trip!"

  • "Cafe Soleil is a warm and friendly neighborhood restaurant located just steps from the White House. We visited on a cold rainy night and the friendly staff and warm comfortable dining room made us feel very welcome and comfortable. The menu is creative without being overly adventurous. I had pistachio encrusted salmon and my dining partner ordered the stuffed pork chop. Both were well executed. The salmon was perhaps a bit over cooked, but both dishes arrived freshly prepared from the kitchen. My favorite of the evening was definitely the tomato and crab soup. Cafe Soliel is definitely worth a revisit for the soup if nothing else."

  • "Always enjoy lunch at this restaurant, especially when it is warm and they can open the doors along the front of the restaurant. The food is always good and I have never heard a complaint from anyone in my party about the food, the service or the ambiance. Recommend this as a great place for lunch and hope to try the happy hour, which I have heard is great.!"

  • "The food was very good. The menu was varied. Almost anyone could find something they like. It had a friendly ambience but we were able to talk without shouting. Excellent place to go to if you want to talk and catch up with someone."

  • "The dining area is in a street level room with a view of 17TH St. N.W. The hardwood decor is beautiful and warm, but reflects the the loud voiced bar patron's voices throughout the small dining area. Service was prompt and friendly, but less attentive than we are accustomed to - left waiting for our server to return on a couple of occasions during our meal. Portion sizes were quite generous, and entree quality was great. The check total was fair for the board received. We are hoping, however, for a few more dinner and dessert entree choices to be added to the menu in the future. This is our third experience at this venue - we will return again."

  • "Situated in the heart of DC at Farragut Square, this charming little bistro has a great combination of food, service and ambience. I love to meet friends here for lunch, because we can carry on a conversation without competing with fellow diners or TVs. The service is professional, and the food quite good."

  • "Food is not great. You can tell the entire menu is frozen food. Way to many places in the same block that has better food. Very unimpressed and not worth the price."

  • "The service here is always excellent, as well as the food- never too salty or greasy."

  • "Delicious, eclectic menu is perfect for international and out-of-town guests. Great location for the "K" street corridor. Lovely setting, although can be crowded weekdays so book ahead for a booth or window table."

  • "While not necessarily a place for kids (and I only say this becuase there is no kids menu) the staff at Soleil went out of their way to ensure our four children had a great time. The food is fantastic and service was even better. This was definitely one of the better dining experiences formus in DC."

  • "We went on Valentine's Day. We got there early to have a few drinks and an appetizer for the happy hour specials. We got the fried calamari, which was delicious, and the cosmo and margarita. Both drinks were well made and not weak. Then we sat down for the reservation. Our waiter was not as attentive as he should have been, and it took forever for us to get service and our food, which is why I gave the service only 2 stars. We ordered off the regular menu instead of the Valentine's day special menu. My husband got the steak frites which he really liked. I got the lobster ravioli's, and they were only room temperature and not hot at all. They were stuffed full of meat and the sauce was great, so I still gave the food score 4 stars."

  • "Cafe Soleil is ideal for a working lunch, quiet enough to talk but with enough background noise to ensure privacy."

  • "Went here for a business lunch. Dining room was quiet which made conversation easy. I ordered the special, a scallop dish, and was a bit disappointed (scallops were a bit on the rubbery side, and there was a strange pairing of mango sauce with mashed potatoes -- great sauce for the scallops, but an odd combination with the potatoes). My colleague ordered steak nicoise salad and noted it was a bit under-seasoned. Service was good, though our table was too close to a table behind me (it was a table for four with only two seated there -- not sure how they would have fit in a third or fourth person)."

  • "Food was excellent; service as well, and quite prompt. Our only complaint would be the noise level. It is quite difficult to communicate without shouting or leaning very close!"

  • "Fantastic! This was the first visit of my wife and myself. We met for lunch. We had mussels, olive tapenade, the veggie sandwich, Everything was fresh and high-quality (except the mussels which were small) My wife is vegetarian. The menu easily accommodated both of us. The atmosphere was the best element. It is slightly upscale and relaxed & cozy. The service was professional, friendly, and prompt,. We were able to have a nice, relaxing, but efficient lunch within an hour. We will definitely be back!"

  • "Went here on a frigid Monday night. I chose Cafe Soleil because it was around the corner from the Farragut West Metro stop. I've been here a few times before and nothing really stood out other than it being ungodly crowded (it's really cozy, i.e. tiny). However, last night it was pretty empty but we arrived fairly early (by DC standards) at 6. I was 30 mins early so I sat at the bar and had a couple of cocktails which, of course, were not included on happy hour (just bottled beer...okay). All in all the service was good (remember, it was not crowded), and I was impressed by the food. I will say that when this place gets packed, it borders on unbearable in terms of noise and general comfort."

  • "I visit Cafe Soleil often as my office is nearby. The food is genrally good and the cafe is a cozy enclave in an area not overwhelmed with choices. Genrally everything on the menu is good, but I would stay away from the stuffed pork chops were as dry as paper."

  • "Scheduled a business meeting here and while the food and service was great, you could not hear anything. Not the best place for interviews or other business lunches."

  • "Best idea was to make open table reservation. Place was jam packed when I arrived at 1 pm on a Tuesday! Great service, tables very close together. Convenient to all around it and welcoming but food nothing special."
    Dined on 12/17/2013
  • "Both the pork and mussels were overcooked to be inedible. The waiter never came to ask how our food was. He seemed nonplussed by our not having eaten the food and our report that the food was overcooked."

  • "A colleague was moving out of the area, so we decided to go to Cafe Soleil for a farewell luncheon. The food was outstanding! We had warm brie for an appetizer (the selection of crackers/cookies was delicious). Entrees were tilapia, salmon and grilled vegies -- all were delicious and shared with each other. The Christmas decorations were beautiful. This is definitely a wonderful restaurant."

  • "We had a delightful dinner at Cafe Soleil. The food was very good, service was very attentive but not overbearing and the atmosphere of a small dining room was very appealing and relaxing. Our waiter did not rush us and allowed us to remain after the meal was complete. It was also a good value for the price and very conveniently located to several Metro lines."

  • "Substantial portions. Chairs were uncomfortable. Café Soleil was not the most upbeat place - perhaps because it was Sunday night. Wine choices by the glass are very limited."

  • "As always, I had a wonderful meal at Cafe Soleil! The food is wonderful, and the service never disappoints. I have and will continue to recommend this restaurant to all of my friends and co-workers."

  • "We were seated at 12:30, gave our order at 12:45 and were still waiting at 1:30 - ridiculous for a restaurant that caters to business crowd. They discounted our meal, but...it's not the first time that I've been there and I always have to budget 90 minutes for lunch when I go there."

  • "nice location and service, but food was filled with so much garlic that I couldn't eat it. ordered fish which came with broccoli and it was salty with an abundance of garlic. too much!"

  • "When we have an event at DAR Hall or the Kennedy center we meet here for dinner after work. Never had a problem with reservations. The wine list while limited in size is broad in depth. Have always found a wine we like. The menu is offers an interesting selection—I am fond of the lamb shank. Ambiance is nice. Have heard the bar section has a great happy hour but have not partaken."
