Both menus offered a varied selection with interesting choices. Our meals featured the freshest ingredients, excellent presentation, great taste with a thoughtful combination of foods, flavors, and textures, The sauces were truly out-of-this world good. The servers were attentive and offered helpful suggestions. We were not rushed.   • "we have been going to Café Sole every time we visit Key West since it opened 18 years ago. We went for my partners Birthday on St. Patrick's day. The owner was at the table next to us hosting a dinner party. He and his wife were so welcoming. The food was outstanding and the service exceptional. We always sit inside in the small seating area rather than outside. There is more room and on hot nights it is much cooler. I highly recommend this awesome restaurant!"

  • "Everyone in our group of 4 loved this restaurant, including the two vegans because there is a separate vegetarian/vegan menu! It is located on a quiet residential street away from the bustle of Duval Street, and we were seated in the very pretty, outside dining area. The service was attentive, friendly and fun, and we had an excellent, relaxing dining experience. Our favorites were the portobello soup, gazpacho soup, the bouillabaisse, the stone crab.The vegans loved the grilled portobello appetizer and the veggie risotto. Very nice wine list. For non fish eaters, the menu has a good selection of meat dishes. This has to be one of the best restaurants in Key West, and we will definitely be back!"

  • "Cafe Sole continues to deliver excellent food with dependable service even on a very busy weekend in Key West. We started with the Portabello Mushroom Soup which was so good, seasoned just right. I ordered the House special snapper and enjoyed the entree as well as the presentation. Others enjoyed the Grouper Romanesque. Our food came in perfect time and the waiter often checked on how we were doing. We sat in a booth which really helped with sound control. Since it was such a busy night in Key West, our hostess called a cab for us which seem to be taking forever. First the hostess and then John, the owner, came outside to check on us. Both offered to drive us to our hotel but the cab finally arrived. A nice evening had by all!"

  • "We had dinner at Cafe' Sole' on Saturday night and it was absolutely wonderful. We chose to sit inside and had a wonderful and knowledgable server. She described the entree's well and was attentie without being annoying. I chose the mushroom soup as a starter and it was delicious, but not quite as "smooth" as I had expected. We both had the hog snapper and it was about the best piece of fish I've ever had. The hollandaise sauce wasn't as thick as the breakfast version, due to the white wine and it was perfect! I highly recommend this charming restaurant to anyone visiting Key West! Please note that the restaurant only serves wine and beer."

  • "The signature hogfish was a bit disappointing. Nice flavor, but the breading was soggy. Filet was so thin it came across as just mushy. Sides were simple, but good. What I would consider traditional spanish sides. Grouper Romesco was fine. Just be forewarned that by "black" grouper they really mean "blackened" in the cajun sense. Worst part was the hostess. We were seated 30 minutes after our reservation and after seating a couple that arrived after us with no reservations. To add insult, when questioned, she lied to our face saying they had an earlier reservation despite our having overheard them tell her they had no reservation! Expectations were high based on reviews and reputation, but it just didn't come close."

My husband ABHORS lima beans, and he finished every last one .. . and enjoyed each one! The wait staff were terrific - - our waiter, Michael, was well-informed, kind and thoughtful. We had a wonderful time at Cafe Sole on our first night in Key West."

We returned 2 nights later for more key lime pie! The waiter was superb. He made excellent recommendations, and approached every customer with positivity, enthusiasm and professionalism. This is a hidden gem.This is a cloth napkin kind of restaurant so a bit pricey but totally worth it.They have a large wine menu by the bottle and by the glass. Our waiter was very friendly and very attentive. I started with the mushroom soup and it was to die for but the reason we went to Cafe Sole was to try the HogFish Snapper I had heard so many great things about. It's a mild white fish that just melted in my mouth...so light, fresh and flaky. It came with some vegetables that were the perfect accompaniment. It had a puree that was fantastic and lima beans that were seasoned perfectly. Definitely a good place to go with friends or perfect for a romantic evening."

I had the hog fish and it was delicious and my fiancé had the duck l'orange and he really enjoyed it. We shared a creme brûlée and lived it! I would encourage anyone to go here, way better than going to pinchers!"

  • "Please make a reservation so you don't miss out on this gem of a restaurant! You step inside Cafe Sole to find a romantic, candlelit, intimate dining area. Tables are close to each other - but it adds to the ambiance! Server was attentive, helpful, and seemed excited about the food. Highly recommend the stoned crab claws (served cold) and angels on horseback (mix of sweet and salty) for appetizers. For entrees do NOT miss out on the Hogfish Snapper in red pepper hollandaise sauce! Served with sides that burst with flavor! The grouper was also prepared to perfection. Yes, it is expensive to dine here; however, the experience is well worth every penny. We took a cab to get there and then walked home through the lovely neighborhood."

Were pleasantly surprised to find it as a chef's specialty at Cafe Sole. Our table of 4 all ordered it and cleaned our plates. Nice touch with a few veggies garnished on the plate. Professional, attentive staff, two of whom promptly and fully assisted a handicapped guest who departed with dignity intact. Delicious bouillabaisse and hog fish snapper with delicately flavored sauce and a lovely fanned presentation of vegetables. Diners in pairs and small birthday group appeared happy and content."
