Diner Reviews
  • "We like to go to Sistina when we are seeing a show at the Blaisdell. We park early and have a nice walk to and from the restaurant. The food is always delicious, the interior of the restaurant is gorgeous (those paintings!), and we love the staff. Special thanks to Louise for her consistently good service and sweet personality. And of course, those lobster ravioli with a nice Brunello."

  • "A friend loves this place and suggested we went. Glad she did! I've driven by so many times and didn't ever think of going in because the outside really has no 'curb appeal' but clearly looks are deceiving! Excellent food & drinks!! Will definitely be returning!"

  • "Cafe Sistina has great Italian ambience with all the walls painted in Michelangelo style. The food was excellent, exactly what I would expect to find in an Italian restaurant. The waiters were very attentive and ours seemed to be a native Italian. They have a nice wine list and a full bar, so the drinks were good as well. Highly recommended for lovers of Italian restaurants."

  • "Always good food, always good service. Both the Gnocchi and Pollo agorgonzolla were excellent. Portion sizes were filling and allowed for take home. Service is always great - attentive and friendly without being intrusive. I would and do recommend this restaurant to friends who have never been disappointed."

  • "This is our go to place. Our Greek salad we shared with four and was fresh and colorful. We enjoyed the lobster ravioli which was full of flavor and the penne with sausage. We all dug our forks into the light and coffee flavored tiramisu with a birthday candle. Our waitress was one of the most pleasant and efficient people we have had. We always have a most delicious and fun evening at Café Sistina. Thanks"

  • "Our family ordered pasta dishes, which were all very good! Being a fan of Michelangelo, it was great being surrounded by paintings that were so familiar, nice job! Noise level was quite high in the main part of the restaurant but we were given a table on the fringe, where it was much more intimate."

  • "Not only is the Italian food excellent, you will feel like you re dinning in the Sistine Chapel. :)"

  • "Hidden in a business building where you would never think to find a little gem, Cafe Sistina delivers. I took my best friend to lunch for an early birthday celebration. We loved the food! The lobster ravioli was divine. She ate the some kind of vodka sauce thing that I'm sorry I can't really remember because I was enjoying my lobster ravioli too much. The Caesar salad was just ok, but everything else was awesome. We couldn't stop eating the butter and we even got dessert, which the chocolate decadence thing was worth all the naughtiness. We had a wonderful time."

  • "Second time there and it was fabulous again. Nice little place with good fresh foods. The dessert was great and the wines were good too. Heard this three times while at my table so it's worth passing on, yes there is parking behind the restaurant."

  • "Food was good. Classic Italian cuisine. The wall decor is nice, but the bare wood tables and metal chairs left me feeling like I was eating at the mall food court. Not terribly romantic."

  • "Chicken Limone EXCELLENT!!! Very generous servings!"

  • "Murals beautiful like the Sistine Chapel. Felt like you are eating in the Vatican. Food was good though chicken limone had very little chicken. But overall gorgeous atmosphere"

  • "We had a lovely Valentine's dinner at Café Sistina. My papparadelle ragu was delicious. Eggplant appetizer was a generous serving and very flavorful. Haven't eaten at Café Sistina in years, they've reopened. Restaurant is beautiful with the wall paintings. Menu offered good selection. We'd go back for a nice Italian dinner out without a special occasion."

  • "I greatly enjoy everything I've ever eaten at Café Sistina over a decade. Café Sistina is a real keeper. On Valentine's Day, it would have been nice to have some grilled vegetables such as zucchini , eggplant, maybe some roasted red peppers, on the antipasti misto appetizer; it was heavy on meats. That night is was more towards a "salumi" a mixed cold cuts platter."

  • "The venue is interesting with parts of the Sistine Chapel ceiling reproduced on the walls. The Italian menu is wide ranging. The place was quite busy on Valentine's day. The wine list is satisfactory. There are lots of servers who share each table. There were always at least five couples in the restaurant while we were there. In addition, there were families with small children. The food was not as good as we expected. My pasta de mare had an unusual flavor, the squid was rubbery and the clams were over cooked. My wife had a much better meal with the bolonase. Service was spotty. I asked that they call us a cab which they did not accomplish in 15 minutes so we left and called ourselves."

  • "Step into an atmosphere that touches you senses: the beautiful art work that is appealing to your eyes, the waiter's Italian accent so melodic to your ears, and of course the food that is so scrumptious. It is a symphony of the senses; pure delight."

  • "As ALWAYS, we enjoyed our visit and as ALWAYS.....everything was exceptional. We made reservations and were seated on time and at a table that sat our party of 9 comfortably. It was my youngest daughters birthday with friends and family. She got a piece of cheesecake with a serenade at the end, compliments of the restaurant. Highly recommend this outstanding Italian Restaurant to all."

  • "Thanks to the waitstaff and those behind the scenes at Cafe Sistina for a really delightful experience. We made reservations online and had no idea, other than reviews, of the quality of the restaurant. We were delighted by everything; the food was excellent and the staff was perfectly accommodating and well trained. Keep up the good work."

  • "We were celebrating a birthday. Nice touch was the birthday cheesecake. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. Can't remember his name but he told us he was Mexican. Overall, entrees were delicious, ample servings. Spicy Tutto Mare did not live up to name….not spicy. Room temperature was a bit chilly. Had to wear sweaters throughout dinner."

  • "It's head-scratching why this restaurant is not ranked as the best Italian on Oahu by the local newspapers and city magazine. The food over five years has been consistently outstanding, as has been the service. As for the decor, wall-sized mural replicas of Michelangelo's frescos in the Sistine Chapel (hence Cafe Sistina) are amazing and contribute to the ambience. Buon Appetito e Buon Visti!"

  • "Excellent service, delicious food, but a little pricey for Italian (my pasta dish was $20)...but hey, this is Hawaii, so nothing comes cheap anymore! The inside is bigger than I expected and suitable for groups -- could be a fun party venue."
