On a recommendation of a colleague, I took the wife for her birthday. We were a little concerned to find only 1 table filled at 7:00 pm. The look could not be more deceiving. We opted for the tasting menu. The chef allowed us to have the tasting menu even though the menu says you must let them know 24 hours prior. The tasting menu was definitely worth it. The only unfortunate thing about the tasting menu was we only got 1 tuna appetizer with the wasabi foam each. My wife and I agreed that we could have eaten those all night. The wait staff was also very good. On a aide note, at 8:00 pm the restaurant began to fill up. It started to rain just before we left and it appeared they had about 10 take out orders ready to go.

Needed to find good eats halfway between Miami and Boca Raton. We were intrigued by the write up on TripAdvisor. Somewhat annoyed by the need to make a reservation with a credit card, but the experience was worth it. It is a small cafe with about 8 to 10 tables. Very quiet atmosphere. The salmon with truffle oil appetizer was excellent as was the salmon entree. The service was excellent, and the waiter very friendly. We will definitely go back.

Did the $60 tasting Menu. The 3rd (Yam) course could have been more interesting, and the Vanilla Ice Cream with dessert was a touch 'icy' and perhaps not 'home made'as suggested. Other than these minor quibbles, the food and service were excellent, and all in a cosy and inviting dining room. Apart from exemplary service, the Grouper and Uni app and the mushrooms with the fish course were highlights. We BYO'd (Champagne with apps worked very well) and had Shiraz BTG. No Spanish wine on list?! We will return!

In the context of any small, medium or large village, city, or countryside, this triple gem of great food, service and the unexpected, would be a certain surprise. Sam, our waiter, spoke to us for 1 minute about our likes and dislikes, and his recommendations were top of the line. The chef(s)' artistry in presentation is beyond the norm, and each new taste a delight for the palate. So, between between the front line of Sam, and the Wizard in the kitchen. It will be a memory to preserve, and many returns are in order.

This was our second time at Cafe Sharaku & it was wonderful once again. There were four of us, and three ordered three different appetizers each, some from the specials board, others from the regular menu. Only the lettuce chicken wraps disappointed. Pork belly, ceviche, short ribs, tuna tartare, beef carpaccio, yams with blue cheese and crab & avocado were all wonderful. The only entree sampled was the roasted filet mignon which was excellent. We also had a reasonably priced, great tasting Petite Syrah. Desserts were great, including the chocolate fondue, chocolate souffle and the chocolate mousse cake. One dessert, the jasmine flan, was not a favorite, but that was probably because the chocolate was so good! Excellent service.

This is a foodie's haven. Outstanding quality produce, and astoundingly good cooking. The chef hails from Daniel Boulud and Nobu and it shows. Zagat rated the food here a "28". I was skeptical when I first arrived, but by the end I thought it was well deserved. The outside of the building is pretty dreadful, but be brave, the food is amazing and exceptionally well priced. The ambiance rating was a bit lower due to the somewhat poor decor. However this did not detract from the overall experience really as the food was so good you forget about the decor.

Cafe Sharaku is far and away Fort Lauderdale's best restaurant. The menu offers an amazing diversity of choices for such a small place (about 18 seats!), and every one we have tried in 54 visits (yes - 54)was great. We take home a variety of dishes each time we go there, and they do a perfect job of packing them and including all accoutrements such as separate containers of sauces.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2012
    Dined on 5/13/2012
Fit for Foodies was noted because of the type of the food. It is exotic and many of the dishes are very different than normal fare (I suppose relating to for example Japanese Food). We had one appetizer (skate with miso sauce) that was not particularly good and was very tiny.We found that overall the portions were too small to be adequate. Overall the presentation was very nice, the menu was we felt generous and the specials offered were a nice variety. Again, we believed the portions (even being aware of the French influence) were not adequate.

Wanted to eat hear but could never get a table. Very small, excellent pan asian menu. Three of us had the special sea bass, and it was superb. Tuna appetizers and pork belly, and spring rolls were also fabulous. Had a couple of bottle of ZD Chardonnay, dessert and coffee. Very nice to finally go to a restaurant that you can have a conversation while dining. Celebrated my birthday, We will be back!

I have lived in this area for 22 years, and the meal that I had at Cafe Sharaku last night was easily among the best I've had in South Florida. From beginning to end, we both loved everything that we ordered.I had the short rib appetizer which was excellent;tender and flavorful. My husband had the tuna in a phyllo cone with wasabi cream and raved about it. For dinner I had the "sig-nature dish" recommended by our server, the chilean sea bass, which was perfectly cooked & had a fantastic sauce perfectly accenting the fish.My husband had the filet, also perfectly cooked and with a very tasty sauce. For dessert, my husband ordered the chestnut tiramisu and I had the chocolate souffle. While the tiramisu was good, the souffle was out of this world.

I've eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world and I am quite please that Fort Lauderdale now has a world-class restaurant with some of the most amazing food I've ever eaten. From the outside you may feel you're at the wrong place but once you walk in the food and service tells you you've arrived. Outstanding food unmatched in Southern Florida. It's great to order three or more appetizers (tapas-style) instead of an entree... but the entrees are great too. This is a must try!

If you are looking for a menu that will leave you with wanting more, then this is it! We found so many options that sounded appealing, my date and I settled on one main dish and three appetizers... all of them phenomenal. And the desserts were great as well! The service was incredibly friendly and attentive, without once feeling over bearing. With the little details they added along the way, I found myself wondering why other restaurants haven't been able to break the code on great customer service. Don't come looking for sushi, but come looking for a great dinner that will leave you very satisfied.

We also enjoyed the snow crab and avocado appetizer, the tuna sashimi cones, the baked half Maine lobster (small but excellent) app, and the salmon entree. One of the very best restaurants in the Ft. Lauderdale area. Food is always interesting and consistently top of the line without pushing the envelope too far. Service is kind, personal and caring. The small size of the place makes you feel like you are dining in a private home. While it is intimate and romantic, it's quiet atmosphere makes it a nice place for a small business dinner since you can hear what everyone at the table is saying. No need to speak over loud noise. We've never taken anyone to Sharaku who hasn't liked it. We think it's wonderful.

Not much to look at from the outside, but the food is near life changing. Only 7 tables and 1 server, but service was excellent. The menu is well constructed giving patrons a nice sampling of sweet and savory. Sampled 7 dishes and all were of the highest quality and each inspired. Every dish was simple without any one flavor/sauce overpowering the core taste. The combination of textures was equally impressive. The same goes for presentation. Food was well placed, but not over-architected. The ahi-cones, with its horseradish whip, was sublime. Don't miss this place.

Our 1st wedding anniversary was absolutely perfect. Food: The Sea Bass/orange sauce was recommended by our server and completely out of this world! The tuna carpaccio was worth a return visit. The Asian Yams are still a big hit. The Lobster infused Miso was among the three best soups we've ever experienced. Service: Our server was extremely approachable and spoke with us in depth regarding our occasion and the menu making us completely at ease. The staff properly kept their distance as well as were right there to swap a dish, refill a beverage or answer a question. Although we personally loved the music (hence the occasion), we completely see where others would complain. It doesn't fit. Sharaku's art should be displayed on the walls.
