Staff was super friendly to all and made us feel very welcome. Decor is lovely - really appreciated the beautiful flowers on every table. Food was excellent - especially the mussels, mushroom soup and flounder with crab cake. Bloody Mary's were delicious too! Service was terrific - attentive without hovering. I've been to the restaurant twice, and neither time did I even look at the menu! The chef came out to the table on both occasions and made my wife and I feel like we were old friends waiting to see what magic he could put on the table before us. The vegetables were crisp, and the flavors just sprung off the tongue. And I'm not even a huge veggie eater.
I asked for something surf & turf, and what I ended up with was an array of food fit for a king - crab, shrimp, lobster (with apricot and raisin glaze) and a half of filet with my requested bernaise. The table side visit by the owner and chef was special and the preparation as well as presentation of the dishes was beyond words. Additionally, the finishing touch of a special dessert and port wine made for a perfect evening. Cafe Renaissance stands above other first class restaurants in the area and has become the favorite dining place for me and my wife.

The owner/manager was very courteous and a gentleman to both of us from the outset. The waiter was attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu and winelist/pairings. The food was excellent (I had the filet mignon and she had the rack of lamb) and a great value. If this restaurant was located in DC, I could see them charging double. We were both pleasantly surprised when the staff came out to sing my girlfriend "Happy Birthday." With them they brought a custard-ish dessert that ranks amongst the best I have ever had. We went to a strip mall location based almost entirely on its good ratings by Open Table users. Once inside we felt we were transporter to another world. The French menu was a bit dated; however, the food was very nicely prepared. There was a long list of specials; however, the waiter was difficult to understand so we mostly ordered from the menu we could read. The service was good but the waiter was too chatty, interrupting our conversation more than necessary. It's not often that every morsel of a meal out is extraordinary, but that was the case here. From the wine to the appetizers to our main courses, they asked what we liked, assured us they would bring something we would enjoy, and brought out selections both beautifully presented and absolutely delicious - even for the vegetarian in the group, whose only guidance was "no meat or fish."
Among many charming things about this restaurant, the most endearing was the fact that the chef came out and talked with us - even on a busy Saturday night! The owner greeted us at the door, the chef sat with us to arrange and entirely off-menu dining experience, we had a great bottle of wine and an even better meal. We had oysters and duck confit as an appetizers, Chateaubriand for dinner and then a banana crepe flambe for dessert. Fantastic meal, one of the best cuts of meat i've had anywhere in this town.

Restaurant was quiet, we dined on a Wednesday and there were only a few other tables that were occupied. Food was excellent, extremely rich and full of flavor. The Maître D was extremely friendly and treated us like family even though it was our first time dining at Café Renaissance. The Maître D and head chef both sat at our table to chat several times, they made jokes and talked about their families which really added something special to the evening. The owner was very friendly and sat down with us about 3 times. The waiter was knowledgeable and also sat with us. The food was great and reasonably priced. We thought the wine list was great. We had the filet mignon and the fettuccini w/ salmon. The wine list had a wide variety to choose from, to include reasonably priced bottles. It was not a busy night, and they accommodated us by putting us in a smaller room off to one side, which afforded us privacy and was perfect for us. The menu and wine list are extensive. The regular menu offers enough choices for any diner, and there were numerous specials as well. We liked the wine we ordered, but it was the last bottle in stock, so the manager offered another similar, but more expensive wine at the same price. It was equally good. Service was outstanding--attentive, but not intrusive. The food was very good to excellent. The food is well prepared and served at good temperature. Fish and veal entrees are consistently good. My martini cocktail was an ample portion, but a little pricey for a neighborhood restaurant. My party of four had one veal entree, two fish entrees and I had the calf's liver. Everyone was very pleased and I really enjoyed my liver -- so tender. The presentation of the entree platter is always a
pleasure to the eye -- very colorful and includes multiple vegetables -- usually three. Our service was over the top attentive. The chef even sat at our table to speak with us about our choices. The meals were presented beautifully and were every bit as delicious to enjoy. The Capellini Renaissance was superb with generous portions of mussels, scallops, shrimp and calamari with a lovely vodka cream sauce. The roasted salmon with bernaise sauce was perfectly cooked with accompaniments such as a poached pear along with a nice selection of vegetables. The chocolate mousse with blueberries finished a memorable meal. Generous portions and excellent service make this a place not to miss.
