The shrimp, scallop, snd lobster appitizer was so fresh and delicious. The chateau briand was tender, savory and perfect. They upgraded us to a more expensive wine at no extra charge as a gift and a beautiful dessert with two different cakes. The presentation of the dishes was a work of art. Every person that came to our table was polite, personable, and friendly. I'm only surprised we have not taken advantage of this gem in our town sooner. The food was amazing, the service impeccable. Once you've been, you'll understand. The food, the service, the ambiance, and all for a quite amazingly LOW price. Where else can you go for fine dinning where the waiter and/or chef pull up a chair at your table and engage you in wonderful conversation. They treat you like good friends of the family. Chef Ocean himself came out to our table to chat, and ended up selecting and bringing out our entire dinner personally. The soft shell crabs were excellent and the fish tower not only beautiful but delicious.. The mussels were a huge portion for lunch. All the dishes were created for us by the chef who came out to greet us and ask what we wanted for lunch offering us a custom menu. None of our meals came from the menu directly, but all outstanding. The chocolate fudge cake and the fruit tart were outstanding. Our fish was cooked perfectly & all the sides were great. We both noted they don't overdo dishes with sauces and extras, rather the flavors are very "clean" and characteristic. I've been to the restaurant twice, and neither time did I even look at the menu! The chef came out to the table on both occasions and made my wife and I feel like we were old friends waiting to see what magic he could put on the table before us. The vegetables were crisp, and the flavors just sprung off the tongue. And I'm not even a huge veggie eater.
I asked for something surf & turf, and what I ended up with was an array of food fit for a king - crab, shrimp, lobster (with apricot and raisin glaze) and a half of filet with my requested bernaise. The table side visit by the owner and chef was special and the preparation as well as presentation of the dishes was beyond words. Additionally, the finishing touch of a special dessert and port wine made for a perfect evening. Cafe Renaissance stands above other first class restaurants in the area and has become the favorite dining place for me and my wife.

The owner/manager was very courteous and a gentleman to both of us from the outset. The waiter was attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu and winelist/pairings. The food was excellent (I had the filet mignon and she had the rack of lamb) and a great value. If this restaurant was located in DC, I could see them charging double. We were both pleasantly surprised when the staff came out to sing my girlfriend "Happy Birthday." With them they brought a custard-ish dessert that ranks amongst the best I have ever had. The wait staff is positively, if not intentionally entertaining. Clearly some boundary issues but in a goofy family way as opposed to an uncaring or clueless way.
We found the food was surprisingly good with a nice presentation and thoughtful mix of ingredients and flavor. Not a foodie place...but great for someone looking for an interesting meal and unique ambiance.
We felt comfortable, cared for and included in a difficult to describe manner. We went to a strip mall location based almost entirely on its good ratings by Open Table users. Once inside we felt we were transporter to another world. The French menu was a bit dated; however, the food was very nicely prepared. There was a long list of specials; however, the waiter was difficult to understand so we mostly ordered from the menu we could read. The service was good but the waiter was too chatty, interrupting our conversation more than necessary. It's not often that every morsel of a meal out is extraordinary, but that was the case here. From the wine to the appetizers to our main courses, they asked what we liked, assured us they would bring something we would enjoy, and brought out selections both beautifully presented and absolutely delicious - even for the vegetarian in the group, whose only guidance was "no meat or fish."
Among many charming things about this restaurant, the most endearing was the fact that the chef came out and talked with us - even on a busy Saturday night! We had oysters and duck confit as an appetizers, Chateaubriand for dinner and then a banana crepe flambe for dessert. Fantastic meal, one of the best cuts of meat i've had anywhere in this town.

Restaurant was quiet, we dined on a Wednesday and there were only a few other tables that were occupied. Food was excellent, extremely rich and full of flavor. The Maître D was extremely friendly and treated us like family even though it was our first time dining at Café Renaissance. The Maître D and head chef both sat at our table to chat several times, they made jokes and talked about their families which really added something special to the evening. The owner was very friendly and sat down with us about 3 times. The waiter was knowledgeable and also sat with us. The food was great and reasonably priced. We thought the wine list was great. We had a couple bottles of a very good cab. When it was time for dessert the owner treated us to a glass of port with some Remy Martin champagne added.
