  • "Skillfully done meal. Mushroom tart was surprisingly tasty, cod and asparagus were first rate. Altogether a pleasant evening."

  • "it is always one of the best lunch during the week, as we go out almost every day"

  • "Our anniversary reservation was for 6:30pm but when we arrived, the one table for two was taken, and so we stood at the bar for 30 minutes while the other couple finished their romantic evening. But the food was excellent, our waitress was very nice and personable, and we mostly forgot about the half-hour of standing/sitting at the bar. Our shared dessert was comped because of the snafu and we look forward to using the remaining amount on our gift card soon."

  • "We are always on the lookout for really excellent French restaurants. We have found our new favorite! Superior service. Phenomenal food quality and presentation. For us, a "just right" experience that made for a delightful evening."
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "My wife and I went for our anniversary for the first time. The food and service was excellent. Our only disappointment was that we had a dinner reservation for 6:45 and they had run out of the prix fix menu specials by that time. Our waitress was very apologetic and told us that in the future we should call ahead to make our reservation and let them know that this is what we desired. They would be sure to make enough and some in reserve. Our consolation was that we ordered off the menu and had excellent meals. My Dover sole melted in my mouth and my wife's lamb was excellent."

  • "It is great to see this neighborhood spot getting the recognition it deserves! The service is always excellent which always puts the experience over the top."

  • "You will not be disappointed dining here. Everything about this place is wonderful. The food is excellent, scallops and filet perfect, and the wait staff could not be better. We definitely would recommend this restaurant."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "Yet another great dining experience at this elegant little restaurant. The 3 of us shared escargot & a charcuterie plate (foie gras , country pate, & duck mousse) - delectable! Then one of us had the red grouper (the special for the evening), lamb, & a fillet - each expertly prepared. Finally we shared a strawberry crepe for dessert - scrumptious!"

  • "Excellent food and attentive service. Quiet and charming. Lunch was delightful."

  • "I love this place. Monday is souffle night and we had two. I had salmon - guest had veal. Everything was great."

  • "We celebrated our 30th anniversary at Cafe Provence - we had not been to this restaurant in years. My husband had the Veal and I had the Filet. Both were cooked to perfection and full of flavor. We had Chocolate Souffle for dessert which was like eating a cloud of heaven! Wonderful night!! Can't wait to return!"

  • "Great spot to sit outside... particularly like the small plates. We had escargot, mussels, cheese and olives. Add a couple of glasses of truly delicious wine and it was the perfect light meal."

  • "Café Provence provides the best dining experience in Kansas City. The food is lovely, delicious, and well-varied, the service consistently friendly and excellent, and the environment comfortable, pleasant, and unique. Rightly recognized by many reviewers as among the best Kansa City has to offer, and deemed by Zagat the best in the metro, Café Provence has for years been our favorite restaurant. On our most recent visit, my wife had the halibut, which proved scrumptious, and I the leg of lamb, which was equally delicious. We shared a nice date/pistachio/goat cheese opener, and the potato leek soup was strong on basil but tasty. Créme caramel and a double espresso perfectly finished the evening."

  • "Great food & great atmosphere. Love going there. The pea soup tasted like fresh peas."

  • "My husband chose this restaurant to celebrate his birthday. I had requested a specific seating location in my reservation and we were given that location. We had a most pleasant evening. The food is delicious. This is one of our favorite restaurants."

  • "Excellent food, presentation and ambiance! What a gem of a restaurant."
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "We ate outside because it was a gorgeous day! The traffic of people and cars did not make the outdoor dining as pleasant but we loved being outside. The food was delicious. Three out of four of us had different things but all were pleased with their choices. Good service, too."
    Dined on 6/13/2014
  • "I took a co-worker to lunch who has been having a difficult time. Cafe Provence was perfect! Quaint, quiet so we could talk, wonderful service, and the food was fabulous, as always. Cafe Provence is my go to place for an intimate, fabulous lunch. My co-worker live in SW Johnson County so had never had an opportunity to go to Cafe Provence. She can't wait to take her husband after he has recovered from his surgery!"

  • "This was my first visit and it was beyond exceptional in almost every way, practically perfect!!! The only negative was a somewhat rude petite French lady with short hair that sat us. She was very curt and unwelcoming, as if we were a total pain in the wazoo. Bad first impressions aside, the food was impeccable!! Natalie, our server, was professional, yet playful and charming. The food!! Oh, the delicious food!!!! Coquille st Jacques and a fried goat cheese salad to start. Filet with Boursin cheese for an entree. And the bread --- it took me back to traveling in Europe. Devine!"

  • "We went on a Tuesday night and ordered the four course prix fixe menu. Excellent! Sea bass was course 3. Soup, salad & of course dessert (chocolate mousse!). Each course was superb and beautifully presented. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Highly recommend"

  • "This is one of the most reliable restaurants in the KC area. The food, setting, and staff are always above average."

  • "This is unbelievable gem in the heart of Kansas City! We enjoy every visit and we love the food, atmosphere, service and the crew who is behind this!"

  • "It was like we were eating at a sidewalk cafe in Paris. Our server was French and was quite knowledgable, with a positive attitude to boot! We really enjoyed our main courses. The Amish chicken with brandy sauce and leg of lamb dishes were delicious! We also had the blue cheese endive salad and lobster/polenta appetizers, but they weren't as good. The thyme oil overpowered the salad and made it bitter. We had caramel flan for dessert which was very good if you like flan. French press coffee was great and was actually decaf as requested. One disappointment was that they didn't do anything special for our anniversary. Stick w/main courses & you'll be set."

  • "Very pleasant lunch experience....love the Village location, fantastic menu, excellent food!! The server was knowledgeable and friendly and best of all, he didn't hover, just seemed to be there at the appropriate time. The bar had a nice feel and I thought at the time what a great place for dinner and drinks. "

  • "We always go to Cafe Provence for our anniversary. The service does every thing possible to make you experience memorable. And the food is outstanding. We will continue to frequent this great restaurant. "

  • "My wife and I have dined at Cafe Provence a number of times, usually with out of town visitors and/or on special occasions. We have never had anything but outstanding food and service. (Natalie has taken great care of us.) Without exception, our business associates (mostly from New York and Chicago) have been most impressed with the restaurant, saying it is as good or better than any restaurant they frequent at home. On this visit, one of our business associates does not eat deserts so we just ordered some "for the table". The non desert eater ate the most!"

  • "Everything about this place was wonderful! The food was excellent and was soooo happy I could get my champagne by the glass! It is such a cozy atmosphere too. Would highly recommend!"

  • "The food is some of the best I've had in Kansas City. Though there was a street festival was going on having a great evening with someone was very doable in the restaurant. We did not feel rushed and were able to savor the food at our own pace. Service was great and the staff was helpful and friendly."

  • "My husband and I discovered this gem years ago, after he retired. We would have a leisurely late lunch at Cafe Provence. We got to know the family and enjoyed sharing our stories of France. Five years ago we booked the restaurant, on a Sunday afternoon, for our 50th anniversary. We haven't stopped going there. We love to bring friends from out of town with us and our daughters especially love to go with me to lunch on special occasions. My husband usually orders the mussels and the endive salad with a glass of Hess Chardonay. I try different foods on the menu and have never been disappointed."

  • "Met a friend for lunch. She had never been to the restaurant - loved it. Food was excellent and service was attentive and helpful."

  • "We went 5/31/2014 (our anniversary) and this was during the art festival. The restaurant was overwhelmed. Our server forgot my martini until I reminded him (took about 20 minutes to get his attention). We arrived @ 6:30, ordered our cocktails, and then ordered dinner. We weren't served until 8 PM! Two tables close by, came later and left 15-20 minutes earlier. The food was really good (filet. Chilean sea bass and halibut) but the evening was not enjoyable."

  • "Even in the hustle and bustle of the Prairie Village Art show, Cafe Provence provided an elegant and delectable dining experience. The staff handled the crowds and demands of every customer and potential customer with ease and grace and the kitchen turned out beautiful and exceptionally tasty food all night long. This is a perennial favorite of mine, when the budget permits. The bill is always well over $100 for two if you enjoy two or three courses and wine with the meal. It is worth it when you want authentic French cooking unlike anywhere else in town."

  • "My wife loved Cafe Provence for our fourteenth wedding anniversary. Flowers were on the table just as I ordered. At first there were few other patrons in the tiny dining room, but soon after we were seated other parties arrived, nearly filling the place - attesting to its popularity. But the noise level was always just fine. The French-accented hostess/waitress was delightful with a cheerful "Voila!" as she presented each course. All-in-all just right."

  • "Great service, wonderful food, wine, drinks and excellent coffee, dessert, all to be enjoyed in a quaint tasteful and wonderful setting. A marvelous case made excellent for fine food and truly wonder unpretentious service. France at Praire Village 😋💥✨🌟. A place to refresh you tired body and spirit, Provence is what food is about."

  • "New to the area and this is one of our favorite restaurants. Although we were the only customers when we arrived, they seated two people next to us at a 4 top. However, the people were seated directly next to us when they could have been seated at least two chairs away from our booth. We could tell that both parties were uncomfortable with our dialogue. Very disappointing since it was an anniversary celebration! We will probably return but I am actively looking for another fine French restaurant. "

  • "Was rather disappointed in dinner. Appetizer was good- Lobster/Polenta dish. Veal dish was pedestrian at best. My wife had an asparagus soup which she enjoyed but her filet of beef entree, which I tasted, was good but really nothing special."
