Its so very nice to get away from the tourist spots throughout Solvang and yet this is right in the middle of town at Petersen's' Village Inn. The restaurant looks out a serene courtyard with plants & flowers throughout. It should go without saying that this place is for people who enjoy wonderfully prepared meals.... Superior quality, service and very relaxing.

The salmon was superb. It was nice to be at a place where we could hear the other couple talking.

The menu is now rather different from that advertised on the Web: http://www.peterseninn.com/dine/dine-in.htm. French Onion Soup is no longer offered daily (although it might be an occasional special, as our waitress offered to check if there was some left over). I thought that my food was very good overall, although my wife thought that her potatoes had been cooked in too much oil/butter/grease. The Floating Island dessert was still offered, and that was excellent. If you see 2005 Carina Cellars Viognier on the wine list and ask for Viognier, you will not get that vintage or brand, as I consumed the last bottle they had. By 6:45 PM on a Saturday in June, only one other couple had arrived; by 7:23 PM, only one additional party.

Love Petersen Village Inn and was thrilled when I heard that Cafe Provence was now open Wednesday through Sunday. Had an amazing Salmon entree and a glass of the Bridlewood Chardonnay. Great! Jackie our server is always a delight and the room was just freshly painted and lovely. Will be back!!
