Only real negative was that valet parking was $7, and parking in downtown is prohibitive. My husband's steak and our friend's chicken were good and ample. Bad news is that the fish and carefully composed endive salad portions were delis but tiny. Good news is that I actually lost a whole pound the next morning - this is first after going to a fine restaurant. The shuttle to and from the Taper was very prompt. Allowing our own wine without corkage made it a very reasonable way to enjoy gourmet food. my wife and I had the pork chop and sea bass entre's at the recommendation of the waiter, loved them each to our own, and they got us out in time for the shuttle to the music center in spite of traffic putting us a half hour behind our plan. I was eating by myself: usually an immediate target for poor and slow service. Instead, the wait staff was very attentive, making wonderful recommendations and witty reparte between courses. When space was appropriate to let me eat or reflect, I was left be, but always checked on discreetly. By the end, my server Jorge was also chatting with me briefly about my conference and providing me with a lovely treat for the road, while still providing the same level of service to his other table, as well. On my recent visit Carlos was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable of the menu and had plenty of recommendations. Mr. Thibaud Duccini the restaurant manager on duty was Terrific!! He greeted my party and I at the door and enlivened our dinner. My wife fall in love with his french accent.
