Lovely little place. The food was traditional bistro fare. All well prepared and good quality. It may get a little snug when busier, but for us it was great.

We had another lovely evening at this charming café. A nice selection of wine, which can be had by the glass, carafe or bottle, starts off the evening. There are usually a few specials that are tempting. I would especially recommend the ravioli appetizer (or the pasta special) and the stuffed tomatoes-very tasty indeed.

We had a lovely dinner, with great service. Wonderful neighborhood restaurant, great place to go before going to Theater for a New Audience, or any of the venues near the Barclay's center. Unbelievably nice staff, very good food.

  • Food apparently an afterthought
    mistercisne
    Dined on 7/2/2014
Food quality and preparation seem to be an afterthought here. The pate of the day was served as a paper-thin slice and was quite bland. The escargot was edible, but only because they did a decent garlicky sauce and served it with plenty of bread--the texture of the snails was far too chewy, even for snails. The steamed mussels didn't include any larger than a dime, and they were served with severely undercooked roasted potatos (inedibly firm). Lastly (and I should've known better after the rest of the food), we had creme brulee -- served in a coffee mug, not cooked through, and with a flimsy and pliable film of haphazardly bruleed sugar. Ugh. Would not recommend. Dessert was comped and service was fine.

Although the ambiance was fine, and the music at a good level and appropriate for a bistro, the menu seem limited and the food was not consistently good.

One of our favorites. A half-dozen tables. Bistro style with exceptional French country cooking. This time a pair of extraordinary "gypsy classical" guitarists added even more ambiance.

Cute little French Bistro a couple of blocks from BAM. Small and quiet; a nice place to bring a date for dinner or a snack before seeing a show. Not a large selection of wines, but enough, and all good ones with some variety, so there ought to be something for everyone.

I recently ate dinner for a second time at Cafe Paulette. The food is superb. Excellent French staples like coq au vin and duck confit. House made ricotta was also excellent, and the desserts blew us away. Pear and peach tart, creme brûlée, chocolate tart. All exceptional! I can't wait to return to Cafe Paulette!

This is a wonderful small restaurant across from Fort Greene Park and a few blocks from BAM, Theater for a New Audience, etc. Maybe 10 tables and a small bar. The owner hosts and serves up the wonderful dishes he grew up on, with some of his own flair.

Cafe Paulette really provides an authentic Parisian experience right here in Brooklyn. The intimate ambiance, food, and decor near perfect. The staff provides just the right amount of attention (never an empty water or wine glass) without being over intrusive. The food was spot on, and i would recommend CP to the most particular diners out there. Perfect for pre-theatre, friendly get togethers, or any occasion!

We went before a show at BAM, and they made a point of getting us out fast--thanks! I'd be happy to come back soon for such friendly, quick service and such good food. Cafe Paulette is not a fancy, high-ambiance restaurant. It's a (very) small neighborhood place with a strong French palate. And it really is a cafe--a cross between a coffee place and a place to stop for dinner. If you're looking for a fancy night out, this is not the place. If you're looking for a cozy spot for some good food, head here. The food was nice, simple, and delicious. They seem to have specials daily. I had the trout (stuffed with herbs) with chard and potatoes, and I was happily surprised. It tasted better and fresher than many other places. I recommend it!

Sitting there with a nice view on GreenPark and having a great dinner and wine in that intimate, cosy, not noisy restaurant was awesome. Everything was enjoyable: From appetizer to dessert. Thumbs up to an oustanding service and ambience created. I've been to Cafe Paulette several times, so I've tried a large part of the menu and wines. I've got the anchovies, the onion soup, the snails, the ravioles , the Duck confit, the coq au vin, the raclette, the seak, all desserts. Never been disappointed. For a wine's lover as me, the wine list is creative and inspired. Can't wait to be back and bring my foodie friends for lunch, brunch and obviously other dinners. Thank you Cafe Paulette for being the greatest new gem in the neighborhood. A.

I'd read some wonderful reviews of Cafe Paulette from others from this website with ratings of 4 to 41/2 . Unfortunately, this was not my experience completely. I REALLY wanted to rate this eatery higher than that given but it wouldn't have been honest. Prices were very reasonable I thought. Ambience was wonderful & the intimacy just what I was looking for. Menu was interesting & service reasonably good. The food was the problem. Both the starter (New England clam chowder - ton of it & plenty of clam) & the flank steak, were luke warm. Really, the soup needed cooking longer(not just heating an extra few minutes) as both the potato( too hard) & clams( much too firm & chewy) & the steak (barely warm) was a bit off putting. I'll go back tho'.

Wonderful French bistro with larger menu than anticipated for a small, cozy restaurant. Great selection of starters, sides, and mains - all seasonally appropriate. Exceptionally warm and tasteful interior space, perfect for gazing out the window over to Fort Greene park and people watching. Owner on location to great and chat with customers - very pleasant! French onion soup and red were were a dream on a snowy evening! Will definitely return to try breakfast and lunch!

This former wine bar has not so many tables, but the kitchen is a champion for its size, and service was both thoughtful and attentive. While there aren't many menu items, there are enough choices to make us want to go back, and the preparation seemed reasonably authentic (French bistro). Seats facing the window are treated to a great view of the park. We went for a special occasion and were not disappointed.
