A word from Cafe Paragon

Café Paragon in Providence was first to open it’s doors in 1994. We started serving our valued guests in a friendly European Bistro/Café style atmosphere with a comfortable 32 seats, full bar, and a limited menu. In 1997 we expanded to create Viva offering a more sophisticated dining experience… including Mediterranean Mezes, specialized martinis, and extended bar selections in our comfortable lounge. On weekend nights the restaurant transforms with club music. Over the years we have won several awards in RI Monthly and the Providence Pheonix, among them for Best Burgers, Best Salad and Best Octopus and in addition we have been written up in several publications such as Yankee Magazine Travel, Providence Journal, and Vanity Fair.Continued

"They didn't have a table ready for the reservation. We waited over 20 min. Food was only mediocre. Waitress only came by a couple times and forgot things like water that we requested (which should have come automatically). Just a horrible experience."

"I am from out of town and thought this would have been a funPlace to go with my husband and another couple.It is more for college kids and their parents. The food was okay.The service was good. Finding parking on the street was stressful."

"A group of us went to lunch at Paragon for Providence's "Restaurant Week" due to the fact that their entire menu was available for the special pricing. Also, we were looking for a place that we had not been to in awhile or ever. We had a great waiter, very attentive and helpful with our food selections. We sampled everything from delicious chili and intriguing salads to good entrees (salmon, a burger, chicken, etc.) Tiramisu and a chocolate cake were delish! They have an extensive menu and one can eat very reasonably there. Some of us took food home, the r.w. deal could not be beat!"

"The food was fair - the butternut squash ravioli was bland, no taste, and covered in oil. My steak was over cooked, the peas were covered in oil and massive amounts of salt. The best part of my meal was the mashed potatoes. The appetizer of coconut shrimp was good, but nothing extraordinary. The bar was empty except for what seemed to be homeless man and a noisy bartender that had to claim the scene. The waitstaff hung around the end of the bar and gossiped louder than my conversation at my table. Not to completely bash this restaurant, but for downtown Providence, I did expect more effort to go into the experience - Wednesday night or not! I would not reccommend this restaurant as it seems it is still open only by luck of its location!"
