Cafe of LoveGood but priceyI enjoyed Cafe of Love and the food was good. I would highly recommend the truffled chick peas, they are addictive. Also, the bread pudding for desert. Even though I enjoyed the food, I felt the entrees were a little expensive.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWent there for lunch ...lovely,Went there for lunch ...lovely, looking forward to having dinner there5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe traveled down from DanburyWe traveled down from Danbury for a very pleasant evening. Gino the waiter extraordinaire guided us to some of the best choices. Appetizer, meal and desert all deliious and memorable. Owner, host came by to add the personal touch. An altogether wonderful dining experience.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSmallish but trendy restaurantSmallish but trendy restaurant with a great bar menu and an interesting food selection. Not a really extensive menu but what they have seems to be done well. Hostess was incredibly friendly and attentive. Owner also very nice and personable. Waitstaff knowledgable. Overall, a great night out.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMy friend and I went to CafeMy friend and I went to Cafe of Love for lunch and we both loved it. We were seated right away, and the service was excellent. Our server even let us (both) try a sample of the truffle soup before we committed to it! Farm to Table, Local, Delicious with good portions and reasonable prices. What more could you want? Oh, and the restaurant is beautiful and sweet. French fries, for example, are served in a flower pot and the check comes in a passport sleeve. I know my friend has been there several times, but this was my first - and certainly not my last visit.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed our lunch and thoughtWe enjoyed our lunch and thought they provided a very good menu for Restaurant Week. We chose from the restaurant week menu which offered three choices of appetizers, entrees and desserts, all of which were interesting. We were all very pleased with our choices.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is the fourth time IThis is the fourth time I have eaten at Cafe of Love. Have loved it in the past. This time I was disappointed in the entree selections during Restaurant Week.
Of our party of 8, two people went off the Restaurant Week menu because they did not like its offerings.
As for me, I ordered the Pot au Feu that I found extremely bland. The dish's sole redeeming elements (but barely) were its horseradish and cornichons accompaniments.
One of the other ladies in our group commented that the barley vegetarian dish (although tasty) was not an adequate offering on the menu. She still felt hungry afterwards.
I am a retired food writer, so I know what's good. Please keep the Pot au Feu off the menu.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful all aroundSuperb, Fabulous. The food was outstanding. Fresh, inventive without being fussy or silly, full of flavor, excellent preparation and presentation. Service was friendly and attentive. Decor is lovely. Can't wait to go back!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Special OccasionThe food at Cafe of Love is just terrific. Last time there, I took part in the Restaurant Week prix fixe special, so I didn't notice the prices as much as usual. It is expensive, but the decor is charming and the fresh menu is always beautiful presented. On the less expensive end of the menu, I have really enjoyed the dinner omelet, and the free range chicken is very tasty. I have trouble not getting the duck, though, which is fantastic. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes, too. My only reservation has to do with the activity at the bar on a busy night. It is hard for the room to absorb the noise created, and the jostling can be intrusive at a table near the bar. Best to be tucked into one of the corner tables!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMall good. will add them toall good. will add them to my list of places to go to.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for dinner duringWe went for dinner during Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. The restaurant is pretty and quite lively. Our service was excellent. Bread, served with hummus and pickled radish was delivered to the table as soon as we had menus.I chose the Cornish Game Hen for dinner. It was excellent as were the accompanying side dishes. We each picked different desserts. They were all delicious. All of our plates went back to the kitchen empty!!! Thank you.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my first visit toThis was my first visit to Cafe of Love and I will definitely return!

The service was extremely slow but that may have been because it was also during restaurant week. Would definitely go back.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMCafe of Love is an attractiveCafe of Love is an attractive restaurant which is beautifully appointed with flowers and lovely serving platters and dishes. The menu is very creative and it is easy to chose a nice and healthful lunch. My criticism of the Hudson Valley Restaurant menu is both positive and negative. I felt the choices were too heavy on salads. The beet soup was excessively sour. The "seafood" cakes should have been labeled fishcake because they were very fishy tasting and tasted strongly of salmon. The almond bread pudding was delicious. The service was outstanding.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMvery lovely Sunday brunch.very lovely Sunday brunch. Service was very courteous and professional. Excellent choices everything was very well presented. A bit pricey but otherwise real good and an excellent choice for a special occasion.3/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat delicious food and uniqueWhat delicious food and unique menu!
