The food is good -- make no bones about it -- but the chefs need to continue to work on their recipes, because if the food was GREAT, it would be a true inspiration for a community that really needs rescuing from the artery-clogging blandness that is South Bend food.
I'm going back, because I think these guys are gonna get better. They need to work on slightly more intense flavors -- all the meat/fish we ate had great texture, and nothing was overcooked. But things were just a bit on the bland side, and I don't mean 'add more salt.'
FWIW, I'm not a foodie -- but I have traveled the world.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMVeggies and Vegans can eat here....There always seems to be a vegan entree, which is wonderful.......thank you. I am vegetarian, but do not eat cheese since most of it contains animal rennet (from dead cows' stomachs) so I appreciate a cheese-less entree. However, i do eat cream, butter and eggs, so it would be nice to have a richer vegetarian option on the menu as well (that I could omit the cheese on). Also, would love for one of the three soups to be made with veggie broth rather than chicken or beef broth. Food here is very good and some items are from local farms. The staff kindly agreed to prepare the yummy gnocchi appetizer without cheese so that I could enjoy it....great! Very nice ambiance....great addition to SB restaurant scene. The waiter was fast, friendly and caring. He was awesome. We sat upstairs and it was right after work at 5:45PM so it was very quite. Which was great because I was there for mainly a business meeting.
I'd recommend this resturant to anyone. It's in a grown, sexy and romantic setting. I'm not even sure if children are permitted with the long bar and it doesn't open up until 4:00PM.
Can't wait to go again.

The mushroom soup was delicious. The big eye tuna appetizer was very good, but the portion was not very big for the price. The ahi tuna at Ruth's Chris is a better value. My entree was fantasic! Striped Sea Bass with risoto and green beans was out of this world!
We enjoyed a bottle of Louis Martini Cabernet that was a fair price for a nice bottle of wine.
The only negative would be the noise level. On the other hand the "jamon serrano" was lacking in flavor. Nonetheless these dishes are a nice effort considering our area that is so traditional in its food choices.
