Heather is such an exceptional waitress. We ask for her every time we dine. Fish specials are my husbands favorite and I always go for the Salmon. But we've gone back and the last 3,4 times food and service were on the money. Old management back, Monte , chef, servers, OUTSTANDING. Kudos to you Monte, You got us back, for good. This was the first time for brunch and, as always, we were not disappointed.
Good coffee, wonderful OJ, heavenly and light Belgian waffle with tasty berry compote, bodacious and delicious Fruit De Mar omelet and a rich and tasty classic Eggs Benedict!
Service was polite and welcoming and we wanted for nothing.

We just moved from Uptown to Southpark are delighted that we are so much closer now. We continue to be greeted like best friends, if we show up without our doggies everyone from Monte, to Leon the Manager, the servers asks about "where are children are" :-) Food is consistently good and they've added some new specials recently as well - my husband just tried their Chicken Coq Au Van and said it was superb! We sat outside and enjoyed the weather, while eating excellent french food. We split a lobster and crab crepe along with the short rib baguette. I had the Quiche Lorraine & she had the chicken and mushroom crepes, both of which were excellent. Very pleased with the taste and the value of the dishes. The service was attentive and friendly without being annoying. Only minor drawback was the atmosphere -- nice, (and I know it's a "cafe"), but I guess I expected it to be a little less casual and noisy. All in all, an enjoyable experience, though. We watched people come and go and service didn't miss a beat. Management is best in Charlotte. We sat in the cafe and witnessed the manager accommodate several large parties without reservations. Everyone was happy, especially us. Food was outstanding. We had a party of 12 and everything was superb. CM barely made us wait and gave us a nice table. I was afraid it would be too noisy, but the mgmt was quite accommodating by seating us off to the side. Lunch was delicious and healthy. The environment is romantic in a French way with excellent service and a varied menu with conventional as well as French cooking influenced selections. We always enjoy the French Onion Soup - this would be expected, I suppose! I have had the cheese fondue appetizer and it is a nice small way to enter the meal. My wife usually has the quiche garnished with a delicate salad. I had the short ribs which were tasty and tender with a nice soft that isn't the ordinary brown sauce often found with short ribs. The wine selections are fine. This is a great place for lunch, brunch, dinner - as well as late evening. We lounged outside in the sun; lovely; we had traveled to Paris together, and had stayed out side the Eiffel Tower; it brought back so many great memories.
So, came time for my daughter's 36th birthday. Since she is a very successful woman, I could not think of anything any nicer than to take her and my other daughter out for brunch; It was recommended by the lovely waitress that had taken care of us the week day we had been there. She wanted to go to Paris one day; we encouraged her to do so.
The food was great both visits...cannot tell you how good it was, since I have had good food all over the world. It is hard to find such a gem here in Hickory, and really, in Charlotte.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSaturday night was hoppingSaturday night was hopping with people and a 3-man band playing golden oldies from the early 70s. So the noise level at the front of the restaurant was quite high and we had to wait about 30 minutes for our table. Aside from that, I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience. The cafe is well appointed with decorative tables and chairs that remind one of an outdoor cafe. We were shown to a table near the back of the restaurant which took us away from the music and afforded us nice conversation. Service was good. There was a little confusion towards the end of the meal about availability of desserts, but it got straightened out. And the food (why you go) was excellent. Really excellent. Atmosphere can be whatever you make. We've taken our kids (7 and 6) for lunch and dinner and they absolutely love their entrees, whether it is from the kids menu or off our plates. Really enjoyed the food. Service was a bit slower than usual, but they were slammed. Portions are more than ample. My only complaint is, I used a living social coupon, and evidently they changed their policy and don't apply these toward ANY beverages. The atmosphere is great, food is terrific and the wine list is good too. I do find that our experiences with your wait staff is very different each visit. It would serve you well to make sure that they are all trained uniformly so that we know beforehand what will be provided without asking (or not).
