Diner Reviews
  • "We hadnt been to cafe magnolia for since last year. Great meal and terrific service. No doubt well return"

  • "My family and I were there a few days ago. I had a burger, my son had a kids pasta & meatballs that was huge, my wife had a salad and my daughter chicken fingers and we split a desert. We all really liked our meals. It's byob and in total I felt it was a very inexpensive sit down dinner for the quality and quantity of food we received. The waitress was nice, not incredible or anything, but she did her job well. We ate in a side room with four tables (groups of 2,3,4 (my table) and 6). It was loud(ish), but you could easily understand the people at your table. I wouldn't recommend the room for a quiet dinner, or private matters, but for us it worked well. I would highly recommend at least giving the place a try. "

  • "I have been here many times. Each time it has been a delight. Best for a party of 4. This last time we had 7 and everyone enjoyed the experience."

  • "Food and service is always wonderful. Great place to meet up with friends."

  • "Food is always great, service fine, and the former old house just provides a very homey atmosphere. Be forewarned that they lack a bar license so if you want wine or drinks, you need and are permitted to bring your own. To me this is a plus since I bring good wine at store prices rather than restaurant prices, and they don't charge a corkage fee. My only regret is that they are not open Sundays when I frequently visit from out of town."

  • "My wife and I went here for Valentine's Day, it was our first time eating here. We had an appetizer, main course, and desert, and all 3 were very good. There is outside seating but obviously given the time of year it was not open, I think it would be a nice place to eat outside once it warms up. The place is sort of small, so would say it's best suited for a party of 4 or less, at least until the outside seating is open. The prices were reasonable considering the quality of the food. We'll recommend to family and friends and we'll go back again."

  • "Don't forget it is BYO....wine, beer or drink of choice! They will provide the glasses, bucket and ice!"

  • "Cafe Magnolia has a well-deserved reputation for the quality of their food. The restaurant itself could best be described as cute. It isn't fancy but they have nice touches to make it a very pleasant place to eat. The food was impeccably prepared including very generous scallops that are easy to mess up. I have to say that everything from the kitchen was spot on. As a BYOB establishment the overall price is quite reasonable. I definitely wouldn't call it an ideal spot for a romantic night unless you both really enjoy great food and want to share a special bottle you have in the cellar then it would be perfect."

  • "Food was great. This place is BYOB, which is always a plus. We had an awesome waitress, which I think makes or breaks the experience. I'd recommend this place to anybody."

  • "All around an excellent dinner and very good and attentive staff."

  • "The food was amazing and the service was great. They are a BYOB, so don't forget your favorite wine. The pork oso bucco and salmon were phenomenal."

  • "We had a pleasent experience, as usual, My husband can not stop voicing how great his mesl was!"
    Dined on 2/3/2014
  • "The food is excellent. Service is sometimes a bit slow if you are in a group or purchase any of the entrees. Sandwiches and salads are much quicker."

  • "Nice salads, but greens needed chopping. The dressings well prepared. The almond crusted sole: ample portion, cooked perfectly. The sauce was thick and too sweet. The crab cakes: high quality lump crab but they lack any enhancing flavoring. Then the monster wahoo special. It was very over cooked, dry, tough and the fish was very strong tasting. Our kind server saw that my wife was not enjoying it and a replacement arrived in minutes. A generous serving wasn't much tastier, or less tough. As she ate, she discovered 50% of it was still raw pink fish.....it was gross! The bill was partially adjusted. I would give Cafe Magnolia another chance, as there were moments of excellence. The wahoo presentation surely needs work."

  • "Our group of four had delicious meals. It is tough to choose from a good variety on the menu. It is BYOB which brings the price down, and the entrees are all reasonably priced for this quality. It is one of our favorite places to meet friends or go out for a special dinner."

  • "Cafe Magnolia was recommended by a friend. Reservations easily obtained. Quaint and relaxed atmosphere. Service was wonderful and the food was out of this world. My husband and I will definitely be dining there again soon!!"

  • "My friends and family have been telling me how wonderful Cafe Magnolia is for several years. Recently I was given a gift card so I thought we would give it a try. Service was great, BYOB, food was excellent! We had a caprese salad as an appetizer- excellent! We had scallops, veal oscar and almond encrusted fish as our entrees- all were really, really good. The scallops came with a pineapple risotto and almonds that was fabulous! We will be back."

  • "My wife got the Chicken Cheasapeake and I ordered a dish with shrimp and lobster. the sauces on both dishes were so overwhelming, that you couldn't taste or know what you were eating. Let the customers taste the food, and don't just put so much sauce on, that you have no clue what the food tastes like."

  • "Great neighborhood place. Very reasonably priced and service is very friendly. Specials are always good and my wife and I always get the hummus trio which rocks the house to start us off! Remember it's BYOB so bring your favorite bottle of wine or two to go with the chef's excellent cuisine."

  • "I saw this quaint restaurant daily on my way to work. After eating there I can't believe it took me so long to stop in. The food and service are head and shoulders above any restaurant in the area. Would recommend this place to everyone!!!"

  • "Had a great meal with great service! I was completely disappointed with the seating arrangements. I understand with New Years Eve its tough to find seating arrangments but the isle/hallway with three tables as soon as you walk in the door is not an ideal spot. First, as soon as the door opens forget about it!! The wind comes ripping in and then its hard to have an intimate dinner when you over hear all the people coming in and waiting to be seated. I made reservations for 4:45 (which is pretty early) and probably got the worse seat in the house. Again the food and service was good.............that seating location almost runied the evening. The table closest to the host is the worst one in the house. Hallway limited to two tables."

  • "Great way to spend New Years Eve with friends. Service was great, not rushed. Everyone enjoyed it."
    Dined on 12/31/2013
  • "We made reservations online, thinking there would be a special New Year's Eve menu. We were not aware that the special menu was only for evening dining that day, so we were very disappointed. Guess it was our fault. We should have called the restaurant and spoken to someone. I would not recommend online reservations for a special occasion. We both ordered something that we had never ordered there before. Ended up leaving most of it on the plate. We have eaten there many times. This was the first time we were disappointed."

  • "My husband and I were looking for a good dinner and wanted to bring our own wine. Cafe Magnolia was the perfect choice! The restaurant has so much character. The owner was friendly and seated us in a cozy room. Paul, our waiter was very attentive and helpful. My husband ordered the citrus shrimp which was quite delicious. My selection was the crab cake. It was wonderful! We ordered a limoncello dessert to share and it was very refreshing. It was truly the perfect choice for us. We will definitely add Cafe Magnolia to our list of restaurant options."

  • "We were in the area on a visit and this was the closest restaurant to our hotel. It is BYOB. It is an older home converted into a restaurant. The dinning rooms were several small rooms with 4 or 5 tables. Food was good and the service was fair."

  • "One of the nicest things was it was Veterans' Day, and Cafe Magnolia was offering a special menu with discounts to Veterans. Their meal may have even been free. It was packed! The food was exceptional, and the service attentive but not intrusive. It is a BYOB, but this is occasionally nice when you want to bring your favorite wine. I highly recommend for a nice, delicious dinner!"

  • "Had a business meeting dinner recently. We all had the Wolf Fish and risotto. The Fish was bland and the risotto (I had the lemon) was tasteless. I was looking forward to the experience since someone had recommended the risotto. Not impressed."
